But realistically it’s more like 3hrs not 15 minutes.
Please open Classic servers. The game is fine how it is, and the wait might literally kill me.
Server 2, Horde
Starting area was way too crowded on the first night. Not sure how much that can be mitigated, but it was nearly impossible to do any questing at all. Valley of trials was basically hours of play because of how many people were vying for mobs.
After that, it was still crowded in Echo Isles, and that was yesterday afternoon/evening. Today, it was not crowded at all, felt pretty much perfect. I ran into plenty of players out playing, and grouped up for quests. Most of my time was spent in Durotar. Barrens felt very empty. I believe, from what a friend of mine who was playing Alliance was saying, that Alliance side had way more people.
Overall, it was very crowded feeling most of the time until toward the end of the test, when it felt almost emptyish… I had trouble finding people to group up with for Skull Rock. I didn’t see many people out questing in N Durotar or in Barrens. I think people gave up? Mostly played Alliance?
Also, could I mention two things?
- There was no sound for Z (weapon draw/sheathe)
- The shadows were really weird, especially when entering Orgrimmar. See the doorways here: puu . sh / DIXmo / 100f56fcda.jpg
final day #15 Troll starting area Not a lot of players much faster than #3 first day.
To he/she who spawned the bosses at the end Thank You very much. I am impressed with the hundreds of players outside the gates that the server did not crash. The lag was even better than I would have expected.
I began a night elf a few hours after the start. The 1-5 zone was populated, but I didn’t really have competition for mobs. This continued until I got to Dolanaar, when I started to see few other people. Once I got to Auberdine last night, I saw more people, but none doing the same quest as me and my partner.
As far as stability, I did have a few lag spikes but this was mostly unnoticeable. The game felt very smooth. The loading times were amazing coming from BFA. The mobs didn’t bug out for me or anything. It seemed close to ready for launch, to me.
Overall seems very polished, and I would be satisfied if this was my launch experience.
edit: Classic Server 3
Hey Guys,
" make sure to tell us what time it was and indicate which realm you were on ." Classic Realm 3, was originally on another one till it Thanos’d.
Was it too crowded, even for a launch day experience?
The Night Elf zone was quite crowded initially, but was easily solved by grouping. I didn’t mind seeing so many people in one place to be honest. I only played nelf to 6 then moved over to check out anvilmar as a gnome mage, was less players there, unsure if due to layering or just nelf booty being more popular.
Did it feel too empty or too crowded after you moved to the second zone?
Not at all, felt just right. groups roaming around for crag boar ribs, the nice dwarf priest that party’d up with me took us further a field to find boars, there were plenty if you went looking past the initial spawns. In the Loch, I got some solid group play, with people joining and leaving as they needed. Some issues with layering, ie friends logging in on top of me, in an empty inn and us being in different layers, no idea how to solve it though.
Final note, the booze up in the thunderbrew, was amazing thanks to all those that danced on the tables with us and the creeper gnomes getting freaky with it. Props to the bear that showed up to put all our moves to shame. WHELP that about sums it up. Thanks Blizz, my only regret is it ended all too soon.
i was here
I decided to play a Tauren on Realm 3. The starting zone seemed a bit sparse of players, and that feeling only got worse. It frequently felt like I was the only person running around doing anything. I hope that the layering that realm experienced is not quite what it will be like for launch. I understand some layering is needed, but there has to be a balance. It felt like I was the only person on my whole layer tbh.
I started in Deathknell in realm 3 …Was very crowded at first, then layering happened and it was like a ghost town from levels 5-14. Wsg was fun the last couple of hours,But i missed seeing others questing and running around in the world. If I wanted a solo experience I would play BFA…
10/10 even with the number in the first 3 hours, I found it fun, normal to group to fight mobs and at different hours, it was really good population wise.
Server 15
Day 1 - Level 1 - 5 was way too crowded - 4 hours(evening)
Day 2 - Level 5 - 10 was okay, less crowded - 4 hours (evening)
Day 3 - Made new toon and went from 1-12 (almost 13) Was much easier to quest… could have hit 15, but got distracted by Asmongold. - 8 hours (pretty much all day)

Stress testing on Classic server 3 (PVP)
No disconnection issues. Lag spiked for a few seconds every 10min or so but by no means unplayable (from OCE location)
Early on, lots of people, but was happy with the amount. People who are displeased with the fewer re-spawns eventually realized to get with the program and actually group for content to share kills. Felt a bit sparse as time went on, but collapsing layers last 15mins of play, hanging out with a massive group in thunder-brew distillery was fun times.
Secondary area’s were somewhat dead.
Only intrusive bug for myself and people I was grouping with I can see has been reported before (loot window-open/closing instantly and there no loot and no one can then touch it again) and this seems to be worse on free-for-all than group loot if that matters.
I think people play on launch partly to experience the crazy crowded hype-ness, and I’d rather things were occasionally a little overcrowded in popular areas to meet people, and set off into the distance as a group to less charted waters as you get deeper into the content.
Spammed /cry as the timer ran out, cant wait for actual release.
Was smooth, everything was awesome… but then I’m not 100% sure, maybe an extra week to test this
Realm 3 (I think), was listed as high pop PvP when I created my character Wednesday evening.
Orc starting zone had mob competition, but nothing crazy and a quick group settled any issues.
Left the level 5 area and went to the Troll islands. Here, the mob competition was about the same. Still no real issue clearing quests.
Started levels 7-10 in the regular Durotar area and it started to become rarer to see anyone.
Level 10, headed to the Barren’s and the world was a ghost town, both in the Barrens, Crossroads and in Org.
All in all, it ended up feeling like a dead server. Not enjoyable. If this is a result of layering, please don’t set the layering so high. It ruins the game.
The end event was a blast, when they merged all the layers.
Play wise, it was smooth with only a few minor bugs with my hunter. Mostly pet responsiveness and a fun little graphical bug that replaced my melee weapon with my quiver.
Started out on Realm 2. Did not feel too crowded when all the realms were up. Then all realms but 2 pvp realms went down. The starter zones that i tried on the pvp realms felt crowded. The situation became less crowded when more realms came back on and i could go back to realm 2. Very much enjoyed to stress testing on realm 2.
Realm 3, 19th, 6:30ish CST
Way too many people in Orc starting zone. WAY too many. We were making groups to ensure we all got credit for kills, but I waited more than 45 mins for scorpids to spawn to get the tails. Possibly more than an hour.
There was pretty significant lag as well, prior to the server restart. We were waiting 3-5 mins to sell goods and turn in quests. I had green ms the entire time.
Day two, Sen’Jin/Echo Isles area. Area was not too sparse. Population felt pretty good. I was able to make groups to get quests done. Mobs were available to be killed. I think once people got spread out it was great.
That being said, the players were very kind, supportive, and entertaining. I’m so happy the community made it such an A+ experience.
Created a character on Server 4. Was going well then got snapped over to Server 3.
Played right as the servers came up. I was able to get to level 5 as a Dwarf solo no issue. Mobs seemed to be spawning at a decent rate. Got to play a lot on Thursday evening and was having a blast. Decent mob rates and not crowded.
Immediately after stress test launch on server15, I got in and found that completing quests was near impossible due to mob respawn timers. No big deal though, because I just moved out and started killing mobs outside the start zone and used that to level enough to get to next quest hub.
Each zone I moved to felt alive. I did dungeons, PVP, BGs and everything felt good.
Layering seemed seamless and I was incredibly impressed with the lack of lag during final segment before shutdown when everyone was outside Org.
the 1st zone felt about right almost every mob was being killed on spawn, as it should be. The 2nd zone felt a bit more empty than it should have been, however there were some quests in the 2nd zone that did have a lot of people at. (I was playing Undead on realm 15) however the 2nd/3rd zone being empty could have also been because i was the 23rd highest level on horde at the time.
