I just tested a bunch of the starting zones on different realms from 3:45 to 4:15 realm time on June 20. Currently Realm 2 and 12 are listed as “Medium” and Classic Realm 3 and 15 are listed as “High.” On Realms 2, 12, and 15 almost all of the starting zones had 50+ players based on /who. However, Realm 3 only had 4 players in the NE zone, 10 players in the dwarf/gnome zone, and 17 players in the human zone. This may be a way to test smaller layers. I much prefer the larger layers on the other Realms.
I had a few of those empty loot windows in Mulgore while doing the quests to kill Wolves and Cougars, but it wasn’t too bad, I probably only had like 3-4 of them the whole night on server 3. I played from about 7:30pm to 1:30am pacific time, I figured it was just bad RNG and nothing dropped. If memory serves me correctly, I seem to remember having the occasional empty loot window when the RNG gods are in a bad mood.
Realm 3 Alliance Night-Elf “lvl11”
I had a blast leveling and even grouping.
-
When the servers open, they were pack hard to kill monster but after a few hours it did quiet down some. Today been very quiet.
-
It did feel a bit empty going into the second zone that I ran to Stormwind from Darkshore to see if there was more going on.
on my rogue I am finding that with backstab doesn’t always register when I am behind the target…I get an error that says I need to be behind the target when I already am. This usually happens after a gouge or a sap…doesn’t happen to often but enough to be like hey there is something wrong here
Was on realm 12 at about 8-8:30 pm PST. It was so crowded in the human starting area, there wasn’t a single mob alive anywhere. Kobloid quest was impossible to complete. Dogs and defias were doable but took close to 30 mins to find spawn areas where 20 people were not just standing there waiting for them to spawn in. Ended up just leaving the area at lv 4 and grinding near gold shire until those quests were available.
logged on server 3 instantly at 4pm. no delay…
saw hundreds of people…
i knew it was gonna be hard to tag mobs…
might just form a group and go outside start zone to farm lvl 5-6 mobs, then pickup lvl 6-9 quests in goldshire/brill.
nobody has time to fight over vermin tags…
I think I was on realm 14? It was a medium pop at the start of the test. Everything was good, got ahead of the pack, and was questing on my own. Once I heard servers were merged (turned into realm 3), I started getting lag here and there an hour or so into the test. Not sure how the population was since I was ahead of most people.
Server 15 from around 6 pm pst to 8 pm pst. Tried to make an undead. The starting town in this area was so crowded there were players every couple of feet and it made getting tags on mobs even with a group a daunting task. Made a tauren instead where it seemed more appropriate for a launch day experience. Still plenty of competition for mobs but not 10 minutes to tag one mob.
Once i left the starting area it seemed a bit lower in population than i would expect for s launch day type of experience but still plenty of players running around to make the world feel alive.
Hopped back on the same character this morning around 11 and seems the population dwindled a bit since last night. Very little waiting for mobs but still would run into charges out doing things wherever i went. Keep in mind this is from the tauren perspective so might be complete chaos elsewhere.
Might just be me, but the XP rates feel super boosted. Hitting a few mobs and doing literally 2 quests I was at level 3, then it felt like 10 minutes later I looked up and was already level 7. I may have just gotten way better at the grind, but it still felt a little off. Could just be me though
It was way too crowded, even for launch day experience, on Server 3. I did not make it to the second zone, as the competition was just too much in first zone.
Classic Realm 15
Went from 1-15 in about ~6 hours. Wasn’t too bad considering I started an hour after servers went live and logged off and hour after getting on until about 2 hours after that.
Valley of Trials was very heavily populated when I first logged on but that’s to be expected.
I enjoyed it.
Login time - ~7pm AEST 20/6 Server 3
Starting area was populated but not overcrowded, I saw roughly 10 people in the 1-5 (Durotar) area who I also saw down the track closer to lvl 10.
~9pm AEST moved to Barrens and did not see another player for half an hour, saw multiple looted mob bodies but things did feel kinda sparse in the way of actual players.
All in all I felt at the time the 1-10 zone was very healthy, mobs/quest objectives were respawning at a more than reasonable rate and the zone felt alive, once moving to the Barrens this did change and competition for mobs was non-existent.
Hoping to test more tonight
2nd game session. Realm #3, around 6pm - 8pm EST. Absolutely no issues. Traveled from Darnassus to Elwynn Forest, stopping briefly in Dun Morogh to quest. No lag during any quests, looting or otherwise. Population was plentiful, not crowded. Had a good time.
This is my experience with playing a Dwarf Priest from levels 1 - 10. I don’t know the exact time, but it was early to late evening C.S.T.
- No, not what I would consider to be bad experience, if this was a launch day for Classic WoW. It really wasn’t that crowded as far as I can see. I did see the effects of others there. The respawning of mods was showing me I was either a little late coming to the area after a big group or a small groups was gathering around a quest mod. Note: I would work on the spawning rate; it’s a bit too fast. Or maybe I just wait until the big crowd that will start right away playing Classic, so I don’t get caught in a middle of big respawning area with having to deal with a whole bunch of mods with no other players to help me. smiles
- It was neither empty nor crowded. It felt about the same as being on MoonGuard realm where there was enough players to interact with, if I wanted to. I seen plenty of players in the dwarf/gnome starting areas leading up to Ironforge and Stormwind was about the same. The second zones of each were the same as the starting zone of Dwarves/Gnomes.
Side note: I didn’t realize I would have to be doing a whole lot of corpse running (reason: getting caught up in the middle mod heavy area that was just respawning that I didn’t know about) smiles
I’ve add the video link of what I saw and done in the Stress Test [below].

Tested all realms, for about equal time. Some at 8pm, 10 pm, 2am, 4am and some just now.
The CLEAR thing that stops us from STRESS testing the servers, is the game spoon feeding us mobs.
With nothing to do but wait on a game timer respawn, it’s pretty useless and very BORING.
GOOD:
I can login, I can create a character, I can go into the world, I can get a quest or more, and I can jump up and down and walk aimlessly all over the map, watching others do the exact same thing.
Can we have something to do while testing your servers ?
If you change respawn timers for YELLOW mobs in starter areas to 10 sec, we could give it a real test, but, as is, it’s so BORING walking around aimlessly.
Does not matter how many other players I can see, or not see.
If there is nothing for us to do, then there is no ability to test the servers other than them MAIN functions beyond what I have tested for you so far mentioned above.
This started day one, each and every time you took the realms offline and restarted, I was there, working whatever we had available.
The CLEAR problem from player perspective - NOTHING to DO as there are no mobs to kill, to complete quests.
Yes, I grouped up, was nice to have others kill things for me so I could get credit, suppose I could just afk and get credit as well.
Game has to be playable, which it barely is, if, you have to spend hours standing around just trying to get your quota of mobs to turn in a quest.
Not having mobs to kill is what makes the world feel EMPTY, not how many players I can or can not see.
Other than that, game is not crashing.
Side notes:
- Where is the SPREADING NAMEPLATE Option?
- Stack Right Bars Vertically - I do not recall that being an option.
Am I wrong on either? anyone?
If they made respawn timers 10 seconds in starting zone and everyone leaves the starting zone that much quicker… same problem exists but outside starting zone?
Spreading nameplate option is in interface options.
Stack right bars vertically was default in vanilla with no way to change without add-ons if I remember right.
Played all day on Server 3 Alliance side, saw very few people. Cities were almost totally empty as well, felt like a ghost town. Way too few people!
True, however, we can’t STRESS test the servers without mobs and all the server functions that entails, buying stuff, selling stuff etc. Lots of things could be tested, if the stress the servers, not the login abilities. is all I’m saying, just for testing, let the servers give us things to beat on.
Duel each other, they already said they wanted to test specific things in this stress test so I’m sure they’ve adjusted what they wanted to test before starting it.
I would offer feed back but I don’t have a Sub like the millions of players waiting till Aug.
Maybe have an open Stress test to get better data? Most people wanting to get on the stress test aren’t subbed. Makes no sense.
