Feedback - Stress Test

I was on Classic Realm 3 at launch time and played about 3 hours to level 12.

  • Was it too crowded, even for a launch day experience?

It was okay till the realms got pushed to be 2 realms only, then it got to crowded it was to hard to leave the starter zone, but once I finished all quest and left it got more easier to quest.

  • Did it feel too empty or too crowded after you moved to the second zone?

It felt perfect it might have been a little empty just a little as I maybe seen 1-3 people near me also questing but that was because they were still all stuck in the starter zone.

Problems:

  • Lag on quest, items, mobs as it looked only local and wasn’t me lagging but the server but only at least a 1-2 in it started that.
  • Maybe need more layer on starter zones at least for launch this way people can leave that zone and help on other quest but still keep it full of players but not a whole server.

Logged in to Realm #3 (PVP) Dwarf not crowded quests worked smoothly, no lag. Disconnected at 4:25server required update but have been getting BN launcher queue since and wait time is climbing. Everybody wake up at the same time this morning with Classic on their minds? Still having a ton of fun i have to say

Sure but you have run back and forth between npcs / towns etc. And you have to compete for mobs with all the other questers. I swear it’s more efficient to just murder low traffic mobs non-stop, only going to vendor stuff and train skills every 2 levels. Preferably kill mobs close to a vendor for max $$.

I guess it’s only viable for certain classes / specs. Like hunters, warlocks or rogues deep in combat (kill humanoids for a constant supply of bandages).

Spawn rates were too slow, the lag seemed to straighten out later on

At the start it was good – crowded, but playable. Then Omar showed up, said the servers weren’t stressed enough, and shut down our server. Game has been unplayable since, just wall-to-wall players standing around waiting for mobs to spawn in the starter zone, gave up after only being able to finish the first quest, and that only after grouping. Even hours later the starter zones were unplayable on three different servers. Have no idea if it got better since I couldn’t get out of the starter zone. If this is layering it did not work…

too crowded had to grind to level

Update 4:45 am PDT World of Warcraft Classic Version has now been removed from my play list after it required an patch update and queue wait. Unable to connect to Battle net on the launcher with retry timer repeating every 60 seconds.

Logged into realm 3. 8:30pm CST-10:00pm CST

First layer I was in had a fair amount of people in the starting zone. Going solo, it took quite awhile to get early quests complete. A friend of mine logged in around 9:00pm CST and invited me to join a group which put me in his layer. His layer was less crowded and we got the quests done together.

Moving to Goldshire, there weren’t really any people within the town. The questing areas were, of course, a different story. It took some time, even in a group, to complete quests as other groups were trying to do the same thing.

Overall, I went into it expecting it to take some time with crowded areas. It didn’t feel like it took away any enjoyment though.

I started on Wed 6/19 around 6pm central time on realm 15 and the human starting area was way too crowded. every mob was dying as soon as it spawned and it was an exercise in frustration to tag anything before someone else did. even in a group, it was just a lot of running around waiting for mobs to spawn and hoping to hit them first. not the most enjoyable experience

Same, I am unable to log in as well.

I was surprised at how crowded the valley of trials was last night; baby trolls and orcs all over the place! The boars died about as fast as they spawned. I was on PvE realm 2 about 8:30 PM Central Time.

I cant log in either. And Classic has also been removed from my launcher. Actually the entire ability to switch accounts has been removed. I cant get to the PTR either. Also cant log into live. Tried logging into Bnet app on my other computer, that isnt working either

I started in the Night Elf (Realm 3 PVP) starting area so probably a little less crowded than other areas. I started almost immediately at 7am (when the servers opened for my timezone).

I think the Level 1 congestion was fine. There was immense competition for the starting kill quests in terms of tagging mobs. I think it was perfectly acceptable. Huge competition for tags is to be expected Day 1 Hour 1 of launch. It was easy enough to grind on higher level mobs and come back to the Lvl 1 quests later on.

I got out in front and for most of the way to Lvl 10 I was first or second in the Teldrassil zone for my layer. (At least according to the /who reports) After about level 6 when I went to Dolanaar the zone felt very empty. I had zero competition for tags and was out alone leveling like it was a dead pserver.

The Barrow Den was dead. It was me and one other guy in there almost the whole time.

I expected the Wetlands run at Level 12 would bring many more players. However, that didn’t seem to be the case. Ironforge was deserted. Stormwind not much better. And Westfall is almost abandoned as well. Perhaps it’s the time of day (night time in Australia is 3-5am sort of thing in the US) but it just felt dead.

Also, I joined a guild and none of the players in the guild were showing up in my layer as far as I could tell.

tl;dr The early levels and competition for mobs was fine (1-5). Everything after that felt like the layers contained far too few players.

Realm 15 Elwynn Forest was pretty rough in the 1-6 starter area. Pretty much had to skip the trogg quests if I wanted to level quickly. After that I didn’t feel like there was too much competition other than the trogg mine outside of goldshire (which is to be expected). Felt decently full the entire way through, though Ironforge and Stormwind were pretty dead.

The troggs in stonesplinter valley were not respawning properly though. We cleared the entire area twice and it would stay empty for around 10 minutes, then the entire area would spawn at once.

I started in realm 13 and things were running smoothly in Northshire Abbey. I got into a group and was able to finish most of the starter zone quests before the server shutdown. When I relocated to one of the remaining 2 realms (I forget which one), it was very crowded. I formed a group and even with 5 people grouped it took a long time to complete the kobold quests in Northshire Abbey. Although, considering it was a mock launch event, its exactly what I expected.

Started on classic 15 as Undead.
No and felt a little empty once I left the start but still lots of people at each individual quest spot.
I thought it was really great. There should be a ton of people on launch in the noob zones. this early grouping is your first taste of the true vanilla experience. some of these first people you quest with to kill the mindless ones or the rattlecages or (insert mob name here) may become your friends and guildmates. You may run into them in the barrens, brill, or silverpine forest and you’ll be happy you have friends in that cold, dark world of warcraft.

great job with the stress test I loved having my game back! please whatever you do…do NOT reduce the amount of people we see on launch day. It’s essential to the experience!

Classic 3 - I started in the human starter zone but couldn’t complete any quests that involved killing mobs because they were literally extinct. I moved on to higher level zones and got flight paths, then got bored and decided to check out the other starter zones. The dwarf/gnome zone was slightly less populated, but still impossible to kill mobs. The nightelf zone was the least populated, but again would have taken me hours to complete anything there. After about 4 hours of exploration, I hit level 5.
