I had been somewhat avoiding the BG system since TBC launch because of the extreme queue times as Horde. Before this test it was a complete waste of time sitting in a queue. I know some others would say oh just go do a dungeon while you wait… so you could not do a premade, and if you were going to solo queue well that thing would pop right before the last boss in a heroic dungeon. Only other option to make some use of my time sitting in queue was to fly around looking for Alliance to kill that was questing, or just farm. I really hope this BG mode becomes permanent. Would I enjoy mind controlling a guilde off the bridge in a ETOS? You dang right I would.
Alliance queues are longer than before by a lot
Game changing, this is the greatest change Blizzard could have implemented. So many of my friends are already coming back to get into PVP again
The feedback here will clearly be scuffed, are you just looking for self validation for a crap idea? There is clearly a queue problem on horde caused by a massive faction imbalance when it comes to players that pvp. Fix the actual issue, open free xfers horde > alliance. The reprocussions of this change won’t be evident until it becomes permanent and the snowball effect takes off.
probably the only “incentive” is that you wont spend money to transfer to human once classic wotlk goes live… probably level to 70 on a pve server and drop the expansion until wotlk.
this thread is just another echo chamber after all, it’s not like they actually read feedback in general.
Laziest change, not the greatest.
Thats the problem, these devs weren’t around then, all the OG devs are gone.
I’m sure horde are happy and it was a good change for the larger pvp faction, but this will def have long term effects on the size of alliance as new rerolls and new players will just jam the horde button without a 2nd thought. That being said, you can’t force people to play alliance, many private servers have tried that for a long time, and nothing ever works. It always ends up a 70-30 split or worse. This change will, over time, likely just lead to what we see on retail now where the horde population is massive and anyone that wants to play the game really ends up just going horde no matter what.
It is what it is, they couldn’t allow horde to keep sitting in ques for hours at a time and there isn’t an easy way to make people actually play alliance due to racial imbalances in min/maxing.
They’ve already implemented incentives to get alliance to play warmode in retail.
Didn’t work. Alliance just permanently get incentives, and yet their faction continues to dwindle.
Alliance just don’t want to PvP. Racial abilties make it worse, but changing that won’t make the problem go away.
Seriously saved TBC Classic for me.
The implementation is garbage. Horde vs Horde … I watched it fill one side first until it was 9 vs 14!
You’ve already broken the faction vs faction rule. Just fill the teams with mixed factions at this point who cares.
Alliance ratio was already slipping into unhealthy territory, this is gonna be the final nail in the coffin. Makes me feel like I wasted my time as alliance and I should have just stacked horde like everyone else because there is absolutely no downside to horde now.
Probably not gonna renew subscription after this month, because the long term health of the game is in serious trouble if this is the path we’re headed down.
‘who cares’ is not an argument. go back to retail.
Yes! Please keep this. It feels great to be able to actually play the game with friends again instead of playing other games while waiting for bg queues to pop.
all these horde complaining about que times. you knew what you signed up for when you rolled horde. you have no right to complain.
Oh I don’t play retail and won’t play after TBC. I think this change is a poor choice.
Bad update outside of the immediate gratification this pushes faction imbalance further if you’re sticking with this please give us Alliance to Horde transfers its the only reasonable way out of this self-made problem.
As an Alliance pug I am fighting nothing but, full 15 man premades in EOTS. Even got into 2 games against alliance and were both 15 man premades…
This is broken. Cap premades at 5
As an Alliance PvPer, this change has made the battlegrounds experience worse for someone who would like to enjoy the honor grind. Since the release of TBC Classic, I have farmed over 90k honor. I keep an Excel sheet of which Battleground I played, total honor gained, and win/loss to track which is the best honor per hour. I currently earn 578 Honor/Hour. That sounds pitiful, and it is because the Alliance win 12% of their games (over 200 sample size) due to people giving up within the first five minutes of a battlegrounds. Each game comes with someone saying everyone else sucks and half the team afking at the earliest opportunity. With this latest change, we are now matched up against a Horde premade (and sometimes Alliance premade) at every queue and have an even lower chance to win. My recommendations would be first to match premade groups against premade groups. Rather than giving them an instant queue, it would be acceptable to wait for ~10 minutes if you’re a premade squad. Second, I would not allow premade groups to queue as a raid. Make the cap at 5 people (full group), and require the matchmaking to place them against another 5 people group. Every other game has a system like this, and this would be an opportunity to make the games balanced on paper. Third, rather than making it Horde vs Horde or Alliance vs Alliance, the queues can be merged into all one large bucket so that anyone from either faction can play against each other. The current state of Battlegrounds as an Alliance PvPer is absolutely embarrassing and pathetic, and these changes make the experience that much worse. At the end of the day, everyone just wants quick queues and balanced PvP matches. By making these suggested changes, I believe that the system will be that much greater for everyone.
So we’re just not going to address the problem that caused this in the first place, offer a bandaid solution that the majority will readily accept and silently kill off the remaining Alliance faction as a whole. Cool
