Feedback: Hunters

Huh? This is a classic toon.

Zekvir ?? is almost tailor made for hunters. Disengage clears spittle and you just have to focus on kicking the super telegraphed heal and avoid the giant easy-to-dodge cone.

Fun is subjective, everyone is welcome to their own opinion of what is or isnt fun.

Blizzard knew almost no one chose to have Barrage, so they considered it a dead talent and got rid of it.

They may have felt the same way with Wailing Arrow, but I loved Wailing Arrow, mainly because tbe damage it provided was real :muscle: strong. Losing it feels like if Ret lost WoA but maybe not quite that extreme.

The new interactions between abilities enabled by tbe new talents do add rotational complexity, some players will enjoy it, some wont. Doing what feels to me like a bit more work to enable short Aimed Shot cast times will remain a topic of discussion.

Losing the traditional pet is the hottest topic, some like it, plenty don’t. Just depends on how much the individual leaned on the pet to tank or how attached they were to their pets for RP or visual preferences. Moving what was pet utility to the Hunter/Eagle seems like a mechanical/rotational win, again, only if you were not relying on the pet to tank.

Exactly.

And it also still quite difficult all the same. DataForAzeroth shows less than 4% of characters have the Let Me Solo Him or Hunting the Hunter achievements.

Some feedback from testing MM on PTR:

  • On Target feels a bit lackluster outside of Trueshot, I felt like I had fairly low uptime even on 3 targets with the Ohn’Ahran Winds talent granting additional Spotter’s Marks. The fairly low proc chance of Spotter’s Marks seems like it would make this talent mostly irrelevant on a single target fight, outside of Trueshot. During Trueshot I was able to reach 4 stacks and maintain the buff easily.
  • I noticed that the additional Spotter’s Marks from Ohn’Ahran Winds are not consistently consumed during Trueshot, with trick-shotted Aimed Shots
  • Bullet Hell feels a bit lackluster. It’s also sort of confusing to me that it can be talented without having taken Volley.
  • Quickdraw looks like a dead talent. Uninteresting and not powerful.
  • Precision Detonation is a really cool talent. I think there’s a lot of skill expression with it, especially with Salvo also talented. I thought it was a fun combo to try to pull off, where I was making a decision to hold onto Explosive shot for a few globals until I could get a 2x Streamlined Aimed shot off on the next global after firing it. I do think that Aimed shot’s cast time without 2x Streamline, and the somewhat fast detonation time on Explosive shot makes this a pretty difficult combo to pull off though.
  • The combo of Razor Fragments and Headshot was another fun addition. I liked weaving in deathblow kill shots after a Rapid Fire or Aimed shot.
  • Lock and Load and the tier set are always fun, but I think the proc rate should be adjusted given the changes to our auto shot timer.
  • Ammo Conservation has a strange placement in the tree I think, because it really should require Rapid Fire to pick up. Maybe swap places with Penetrating Shots?
  • Trueshot doesn’t feel like a meaningful cooldown. I know that Tensile Bowstring is bugged and not granting the additional Streamline cast speed increase, but even with that talent I’m not sure that it will make Trueshot feel like a fun cooldown. It also requires a lot of talent point investment to really make it have any power. It takes a minimum of 4 talents to really augment the ability to be a respectable cooldown, 5 talents to get Tensile Bowstring, 6 for Double Tap. I think that Trueshot needs another look. It should feel like an impactful button to press. One idea I had was that it could make abilities empowered by Precise Shots castable while casting Aimed Shot. Like Fire Blast for Fire mages, which can be used while casting. I think that would speed up the gameplay a bit during Trueshot, where we would be casting more Aimed shots and Rapid fires to take advantage of the cooldown reduction, but still utilizing Precise shots, Streamline, Trick Shots and Spotter’s Marks.

I think for a condescending clown like you you should leave the feedback threat and play lol or something

It will be harder to find anything beyond that

Apparently if the spec is “more complex” they can rub their ego by playing the “high iq class”

All of this can be fixed by:

  • Change visual effect of the eagle to something else
  • add pet option back

Put a talent in the MM tree. Call pet: you summon a pet from your stable to taunt your target. The summoned pet would act the same as treants for boomkins accept be permanent. With the specification it not be usable in dungeons and raids. Like a survivability cooldown for solo, PVP (I think pets on rogues is actually useful) and world content. The pet would do no damage as it simply acts the same as Treants do.

Kill shot is acting weird again, it’s doing a full 90 degree spread practically. It’s going to pull mobs we aren’t in combat with and are far from the ones we are targeting.

It’s bad enough Hati and Fenryr like to go off on their own to attack mobs we aren’t attacking or aren’t close to our targets. Does Kill shot have to do this too?

FEEDBACK: Pack Leader

I’m not a big fan of the concept of summoning extra pets but the effects are solid and the new fantasy is well-defined, while the former version was very generic. However, I feel that:

  • The defensive kit of the new Pack Leader is very lackluster. You got Shell Cover, which is a passive 10% damage reduction for 6s with a 2-min CD. Can’t we get at least keep the incredible Den Recovery (20% HoT for the target(s) of Survival of the Fittest, Aspect of the Turtle and Mend Pet) from the previous version instead? Or make it a choice node? Pretty please?
  • I can notice when the bear or the boar are called, but the wyvern? I see nothing when the wyvern buff activates. Am I missing something? Is the visual not finalized?

On a more personal note, I must say that while I think the new fantasy for Pack Leader is sound, I feel disappointed that now neither of Survival hero options fit with my character fantasy, which is simply a survivalist with a companion. Neither moon lasers nor a big pack make me feel confortable with how the character feels now, which is why I liked the former generic version. Anyway, that’s just a small rant.

This Is My Survival Hunter Feedback.

  • Survival
    • New Talent: Cull the Herd – Kill Shot increases the damage units receive from your Bleed effects by 30% for 6 seconds.
    • New Talent: Born to Kill – Your chance to gain Deathblow is increased by 5% and the duration of Cull the Herd is increased by 2 seconds. Cull the Herd now additionally increases the damage taken from your Kill Shot by 25%.
    • Flanking Strike and Butchery are now on a choice node.
    • Merciless Blow’s Butchery bleed damage reduced by 50%.](Undermine(d) Development Notes)

This feels aweful to play now.
I have lots of reasons why, I just don’t have the energy to go through them all. It is Blizzards game and they are going to do what they are going to do and I decide if I’m going to pay to play it or not.
I just ask Please change it back.

You know when the changes came in on live with the 20th Anniversary Celebration update the devlopers hit a homerun on Survival. Not a grandslam but definitely a Solo homerun.
It smoothed out the global cooldown bloat it was having.
I never saw much of anyone saying anything about button bloat.
This is the best and smoothest and most fun Survival Hunter has played since I started playing the Specialization at the start of Shadowlands.
You know if it ain’t broke don’t fix it comes to mind on these changes.

Sentinel

  • Lunar Storm now triggers once every 30 seconds (was 15 seconds).

This change on the Sentinel Hero talents i’m thinking the damage will still be the same overall but the on use of it all makes it all just feel more awkward even more so then it doe’s now even though its not that bad right now really.
The biggest thing Survival will be missing out on is this talent Don’t look back defensive.
Having it proc less even when you get a good throw on Wildfire Bombs to get Lunar storm going for the entirety.

What I find curious is we will get 3 months of this awesome Survival Hunter gameplay and then these changes
While in Dragonflight we hardly saw any changes to Survival for the entire Expansion save a few teeks to exsisting talents like adding Auto-attacks with a two-handed weapon reduce the cooldown of Wildfire Bombs by 1.0 sec to the lunge talent.
Even in Season 4 of Dragonflight when Survival was outright broken BAD.
These changes on the PTR for 11.1 for Survival doesn’t feel like they are adding to the Spec but taking away.

As far as the Hunter Class Tree goe’s I got just one suggestion I can think of at this time.
To the talent Bursting Shot Being in 8 yards to hit targets with this just seems its missing the point of the knockback and snare effect it has.
I’d like to suggest extending the hit range by 15-20 yards instead of 8 yards.
I know Marksmenship Hunters will like something like this with the “No Pet” thing thats happening.

I didn’t realize this was still so low.

Oh, its like you’re both are describing SV before it went melee…and then also became the pet summoning spec…totally not what Activision confused BM with

well I am saying that, in the same line that THEY don’t want pets and thus blizz is removing them. Their limited playstyle is affecting the class. That is my irk, A lot of us have different ideas of MM as an RP concept. I love rapidfire, with my mechagon raygun transmog its great.

Why do many of us need to give up pets for the sniper lifestyle, and they won’t give up rapidfire for the sniper lifestyle? I stated before what I liked and how I did the spec. It doesn’t fit with the other two specs. The pet functionality is great for Delves and old raids for the runspeed at least.

that is my ONLY complaint with these changes. I chose sentinel because Spellsword with a Gun i.e. magic bullets… but its SO objectively Night Elf themed, and that is okay. but no pet at all is BONKERS.

Tell you what, if they’d taken this chance to overhaul the entire class, making survival ranged again and changing BM to the melee spec, I would not care at all what happened with MM. I would just be so happy to have real BM like Rexxar.

If blizzard felt that the Sniper playstyle was important Sniper Shot probably wouldn’t have been gutted to the point it isn’t used. Would’ve been utilized in more than just pvp as a pvp talent too. Sniper Shot (ability) also probably wouldn’t have been removed for 11.1 and turning into a passive. I do not think that blizzard is leaning towards a sniper playstyle with the changes I’ve seen, just a couple passives remain with the word or used in a tool tip. Having a petless Archer or Marskman (without missing utility) had been a desire for many players for a long time. If for some reason MM drops in popularity during 11.1, Blizzard may very well rethink removing traditional pets as an option on MM, and I won’t be surprised if that happens. But I don’t think petless MM has or needs a large Sniper theme or focus added. I wouldn’t be apposed to LARGE but less frequent instances of damage, which would feel more like the effectiveness of a large caliber rifle, but Blizzard prefers damage delivery to be death by a thousand cuts, or shots. The high APM Blizzard usually delivers and small but frequent instances of damage has not been removed from MM. The rotation changed some but the spec and abilities used has not changed much(other than some pet commands being removed). The missing cognitive load from the missing pets it looks like will very much be taken up by this new rotation due to new ability interactions.

Not sure I’m in love with whats changed yet, but I like the idea of new ability interactions. I’ll probably like 11.1 MM a whole lot more when I’ve gotten closer to mastering it, as it is complicated enough to make you have to think, especially while it’s a new concept.

If someone were able to imagine that Rexar threw bombs, thats SV if Pack Leader is used. Just gotta use your imagination I suppose, unless Blizzard does a 180° and swaps SV to range and BM to melee some day.

Yeah. sure.

Delulu clearly.

I know right…its almost as if Rexxar “pack led” a wyvern, bear & boar and then fought melee with said multiple pets, like he also previously had a wolf…almost if he had a propensity to…master all kinds of beasts…

…also, we heard so many stories of him shooting explosive shots though, from his dual wield axes

Totally “fits the fantasy”.

MY FEEDBACK to you blues, scrap these changes, rework all 3 specs.

SV trapper 1 faithful pet with utility & specs

BM melee many pets

MM stand still & shoot while you droll on your keyboard & don’t worry about annoying “pet management”.

Imagine something like that and you just aren’t imagining Rexxar anymore. He hates war explicitly for the damage it does to the environment and “wild things”.

In the case of my mag’har hunter at least, who I have been playing as survival, I can at least reconcile the fantasy in my mind. He was a part of the iron horde. So explosives and burning were always part of his arsenal.

It just never made sense for a spec called “survival” to be about fighting in the fray next to a vicious animal and throwing bombs at your feet. That behaviour does not help one’s survival! They should be attacking from range with high tech gadgets. They have a pet but they view it more as another tool to be used to conquer their prey. Ranged survival should also be the only place for explosive shot. That spell doesn’t suit either MM or BM. A marksman doesn’t fire rockets, and a beast master wouldn’t throw explosives at their beloved animal friends.
