Feedback: Hunters

Why does Trueshot not reduce aimed shot cast time by default anymore? Feels like garbage.

I just tried on my hunter that I shelved some while back.

I think MM needs to be snappier/faster. I do love the no pet thing though, pets have felt useless for that spec for a long time and I’ve no problem with them changing up the fantasy for it at this point.

But it feels slow. Make it faster, make it more mobile.

I am talking about a 4th spec, so no would be losing a pet from their current specs.

Playing around with MM some more tonight. I have to say I find spotter’s mark supremely underwhelming. RNG being RNG. I wish there was a more reliable way to apply it, preferably not connected to precise shots. The only direct way to apply it is with trueshot. It’s extremely frustrating to fire off a lock and load aimed shot, followed by a 2 stack streamline aimed shot, and then it’s the arcane shot afterwards that procs the bird. Since we can stack and consume two stacks of precise shot at once perhaps spotter’s mark could be a 30% chance per stack. It’s still RNG but it’s in our favour at least.

Although that’s still not perfect though because it’s still tied to precise shots. And precise shots itself can also be talented to give a stack of streamline. So if you have a two stack of streamline and also a precise shot queued up, you can consume that precise shot for a chance at spotter’s mark. But doing so overcaps a streamline stack. It’s a very frustrating gamble.

Someone please tell me if I’m missing something or getting terminologies mixed up. Lots of connected abilities and new talents, and it’s in the early AM for me now.

The new abilities are a step in the right direction but a) Desperately need tuning and are basically proof of concept at the moment and b) Some arent even working at all.

Id wait for some updates before judging too much on how it feels because its definitely going to change relative to right now.

I agree, Spotter’s Mark is very unreliable. When I tested it, it was very frustrating to try to have that sweet spot in which your Aimed Shots are at full power and the enemy was marked.

I much preferred to completely ignore Spotter’s Mark and just focus on a rotation that stacked Streamline twice for Aimed Shots. If the Mark was there, good, if not, I just kept going.

I’m not sure what’s Blizzard’s intention: is Spotter’s Mark supposed to be something that is often available, or are we to just treat it as a little RNG bonus?

My thinking to. I don’t even notice Spotter’s Mark and was focusing on Streamline stacks for the Aimed Shot buffs.

I wish there was more of an indication that the mark was on target. A small buff or debuff icon just isn’t enough. If there was an animation, highlight, or icon above the target like Hunter’s Mark it would at least let someone know it was active. I guess I will wait for Luxthos to finish the WA and put it in the middle of the screen along with the Streamline stacks.

The amount of problems MM is going to go live with because threads/comments/posts are being hijacked by a combination of people being trolls + people screaming into the void of the pet is an extreme problem.

MM has so many problems right now guide writers aren’t even able to fit them all into posts in the discords or wowhead/icyveins articles and yet 90% of the forum threads turn into people trolling about the changes without having a clue or people screaming about the pet. It’s no wonder this spec is a mess.

Yet a lot of the posts around the pet could vanish in an instant if the pet was kept as an option/we knew for sure if/when blizzard would reintroduce it as an option and we were able to test the changes both with pet and without pet. Some might prefer to go pet less with the changes, some still might want one with the changes, but a lot of the issues around the pet could vanish if people could feel the spec out for themselves and find out what they prefer.

Played the PTR. The rotation is certainly as simple as ever. It felt different to have rapid fire pop more often.
The eagle feels like a forced gimmick. Just bake the extra damage it would contribute into aimed shot and rapid fire.
Leave out the “not a pet, pet”.

Removing the option of having a pet seems like it flies in the face of what Ion Hazzikostas said about player agency being important.

Blizzard, change the eagle to one of our stabled pets attacking from the shadows and disappearing. It would make more sense then some random eagle just deciding to help you (sometimes) one day.

Add ons that add debuffs to enemy heathbars may help, if players want to pay attention to Streamline. Its applied a bit to rarely to feel good now, if I am actually doing the rotation correctly and things that apply it are not bugged. I expect some bug fixes to make the intended MM situation more clear.

It depends on the talents you are using. Rapid Fire, Explosive Shot, and consuming Precision Shots all grant streamline, but each requires a talent. Usually you’ll wait 2 stacks of Streamline to cast Aimed Shot, but if both Rapid Fire and Explosive Shot are on CD, I’ll cast Aimed Shot with only 1 stack.

It will definitely take some getting use to, PTR access is good for that. Feels like the 11.1 MM total package is really Haste reliant. Anyone else feel that way? Tried the rotation at 17% haste when not in combat and focus regen was great, cast times maybe not so much.

I’ve been testing with 10% Haste (PvP gear) and it feels good-ish. I’ll certainly focus more on Haste when it goes live.

In PTR, my cast time is 2.4s → 1.9s (Streamline x1) → 1.4s (Streamline x2).

On live, my cast time is 2s → 1.8s (Steady Focus or In the Rhythm) → 1.7s (Steady Focus + In the Rhythm) → 1.4 (Streamline) → 1.3s (Stream Line + In the Rhythm) → 1.2s (Steady Focus + Streamline + In the Rhythm)

This is the build I’m using right now, though I’m far from done with experimenting:

With almost no pvp gear on, using ptr provided 4 set, and LARGE amounts of haste from higher item level and most pieces of gear having haste…I’m not impressed after the initial burst, rotation gets sluggish, possibly not so much a haste issue and more me doing the rotation wrong or abilities on CD too often. Really hoping for the bug fixes to resolve this and a bit of talent consolidation, and improvementsin in my own skill with the new rotation.

Just because you don’t agree with the concern raised about doesn’t mean its trolling

for some people this is more of a serious issue than m+, tuning can be done later.

If you want the focus to shift, blizzard only need to add the option to summon a pet back, so you have a thread for yourself

Maybe Blizzard shouldn’t have tried cramming through so many changes in a mid-expansion patch.

In the Rhythm and Steady Focus granted Haste instead of just reduced cast time, so it’s possible their removal makes the whole spec feel slower since Haste also affects CDs, focus regeneration, and other cast times (like Rapid Fire channeling, Steady Shot…).

Also, to add, in PTR, with the Improved Streamline talent, cast times became: 2.4s → 1.7s → 0.95s

So, I’m sticking to that Talent. Unfortunately it has a Spotter’s Mark 2-point talent cost as requisite.

This is the talent build:

You tame a pet of your choosing, then you tame a pet which spawns based on your race. There are ferocity, cunning, and tenacity pets on the isle, and the pet families for the racial pets are all over the place as well.

Because the lack of the pet is a problem. So that needs to be addressed as well.
