Feedback: Hunters

Presumably there will also be new marks buffs in the delves as well. Other ranged specs without pets to tank get things specifically tailored to them. I.e. your roots don’t break from damage any more or something. That was a thing in torgast too. (I don’t do them so idk if that’s already a boon or whatever they call them)

It would be better to make pack leader a standalone spell just like how wildfire infusion used to be, binding the beast to kill command will run into situations where player want to press kc for either focus regen or tip buff but having their bomb overcapped due to the 18s cdr. Base on that, Lead From the Front can simply be the same as how Time Spiral works: allowing a free cast but regardless of cooldown.

Another merit to that is it allows you to “foresee” what you are getting next, so player can prepare for it.

More, having it being a standalone spell should stop the weird cycle, I don’t understand why the beast buff also has to wear off and go back to cooldown again, which is extremely annoying and make no sense at all.

Other than that, the PL design itself is cool, except for a couple completely confusing talents, no mercy which does literally nothing, shell cover is just so bad, say you are under 40% hp, what do you want the most? you either want your hp to go back up or something huge to temporary protect you from dying, can be a shield or cheat death. A 10% dr with duration of 6 seconds but 2min cooldown is not any better than no mercy.
Envenumed fang, delete this or come out something new, survival has no source to spread serpent sting, this is useless. Hogstrider: RS is only valuable enough at 5 stacks of mongoose fury for the high focus cost, which means the first one or even two hogstrider buff is completely neglectable, making the talent only 1/3 the value, considering also reducing the cost of the next RS by 5 focus per stack?

Can someone also remove juggler proc focus cost as well please, it used to be a automatic ES cast costs nothing

The tooltip for the new Precise Shots reads:

Aimed Shot causes your next [Chimaera Shot / Arcane Shot] or Multi-Shot to deal 100% more damage and cost 70% less Focus.

Your Auto Shot damage is increased by 100% but the time between your Auto Shots is increased by 2.0 sec.

However, the Chimaera Shot talent has been removed.

Lots of the talent tooltips are begging for an update to say what they actually do and a bunch of bug fixes are needed.

Noticed that Kill shot when triggering a 2nd target tries to make your pets leave their current target to go after the new one.

I tested it on live and they do not do that behavior. That’s going to cause problems.

are you using the no mercy talent?

I mean I still feel a LOT like a hunter without a pet. I have a bow, quivers, arrows but like you said different people enjoy it differently and nobody should feel punished to play what they enjoy. At the end of the day its on blizzards hands if they feel its a necessary change dispite the vocal feedback of some players, like when they decided to change survival to be melee, then it will take some getting used to or playing BM which is a very laid back spec with a variety of pets, two, or one, ora a zoo depending on your talent choice, that seems to fit well with your play style. I sincerely hope that we all can play MM the way we like with options but so far the other changes to the talent tree feel amazing in my opinion

I don’t see them letting us CC the spinshroom boss permanently as that just breaks the entire encounter. Zekvir as MM is already hard enough as I have to rely solely on RF for damage because you can’t stand still long enough to cast anything else but AS and SS or die to a multiple number of mechanics.

I recently leveled two hunters, and I noticed both times I got to level 10 before ever considering taming a pet. I didn’t start out with one. So if a new player levels one, chances are they won’t even realize they can have a pet before they choose their class.

Exile’s Reach has you tame not one but two pets, which is where new players get sent to.

Oh that is right. I forgot about that zone.

Its the best zone, if you like getting 10 levels in less than 10 min if you rush.

That’s true. Definitely fast. Its been so long since I went there I forgot you tame a tenacity and a ferocity pet. At least that is how I remember it, anyway. :joy:

Yeah it may be that. That’s going to be problematic if you are focusing one mob and decide to take advantage of the proc of the kill shot.

guess once the number crunchers get done with things we’ll know.

I am honestly to the point that I prefer Black Arrow being its own ability. I am not all that fond of how much Kill Shot is being worked into the rotation. I don’t really see many people mention it, though. So is everyone happy with Kill Shot not really being an execute anymore and Black Arrow being combined with it?

Just adding my voice to those who don’t want to lose their pets as MM. I don’t really think I can add much more that hasn’t already been said. I can say that I’ve mained an affliction lock since vanilla and in that time I’ve felt the spec lost most of the flavor that made it feel so special. Taking pets away from MM is far worse. What a terrible solution to a simple problem.

On PTR during testing today I saw on details the 3 types of damage that come from Black Arrow totaled at over 37% of my 30seconds of single target burst damage, without counting auto attack damage being increased by the DR hero tree.

Aimed Shot was 29%

Rapid fire if I remember correctly was 10% but very needed to lower Aimed Shot cast time.

Black Arrow really carrys the spec to mediocrity, it is so much worse off without it. Burst damage is strong, after 30 or so seconds damage output tanks, very sad unless it is the inoperable talents to blame or my skill. Fact remains all the good damage buttons you want to press come off cooldown a lot slower than is fun

My Ret on live does 1 million more DPS for the same 30 seconds of burst rotation = 57million dps for the MM on PTR vs 87million for the Ret with lower item level on live and the Rets damage barely slows after the 30 seconds, its rotation is way smoother and sadly, effective. If I need to play Ret because they get MM so wrong in design or tuning it would be unfortunate, but the PTR still has many weeks where corrections can be made.

You must be stoked that UA is being giga buffed for 11.1. I was scared when I read about it.

BM Hunter.

Generally happy with how BM feels initially on the PTR. Really want to check out the Pack Leader changes but did not feel confident when I tried it in the Floodgate test dungeon, so ran out and swapped to Dark Arrow. It felt like not much changed even though I tried tweaking the spec (not bad or anything, just felt the same as live).

Overall damage and utility felt good, just nothing exciting, however I will try again with Pack Leader and hopefully that scratches an itch.

Update:
Although BM felt good initially, I’m less satisified with practice. Pack Leader still feels lacklustre. Dark Ranger felt weak against bosses. Its hard to tell on fresh content in pugs. I also tried other classes and enjoyed my Druid a lot more (both feral and balance). I know pugs and fresh content aren’t a good way to gauge things but my druid felt more useful with a buff, offhealing, combat res and way more dmg (feral about the same but boomkin pumps). Then again I could still provide Lust.
