Read the last part “…while playing the spec that I love”.
I am aware BM and survival exist. If I wanted to play melee Id roll an actual melee class and I dont like BM - I find it boring as its a “pet does everything and Im just the sidekick” spec. I enjoy MM because its the other way around - IM the one doing everything and the pet is my sidekick. They play quite differently.
This is EXACTLY one of the main points Ive been making and cinderbees were literally one of the examples I used. Pets add a second health bar that can be spam healed with decent power to farming. Removing that means our effective HP pool when farming or doing other open world stuff is cut in half and our “self healing” is destroyed.
I actually fall into this category too (though I dont do mythic raiding) and I love the shake up, access to utility outside of the pet for raids and mythic+ - all of that other stuff is great. But outside of that they really need to keep the pet and it can be done without affecting balance or any gameplay intentions of the changes now or in the future.
This is EXACTLY what I want and all they need to do. If they do this then pets are entirely optional - dont like pets? Never summon or hell never even tame one, nothing changes at all for you vs removing pets. The damage reduction means pets will never get used in dungeons and raid so nothing changes there either and they will never have an impact on balance or future planned changes. But for those of us that love and want to keep our pets we can use them in solo and open world content where we could actually use them.
Im also getting pretty tired of people disingenuously acting like none of that matters and that the entire game is solely sitting in Dorn in queue for mythic+ or raiding and then immediately requeueing and never really doing anything else. Especially when, even if that IS how you play, having access to pets would have LITERALLY no impact on you whatsoever.
Its at the point where the only argument is truly “But I get the most enjoyment if I know others are hurt and upset”.
This is no more incongruent than “My Spirit beast/core hound/devilsaur/whatever other exotic pet who I tamed and play with every day suddenly doesnt know who I am and I cant call them because Im not BM spec” - in fact that makes less sense.
Spent a long time on ptr and new MM actually feels pretty great so far. Felt a lot more involved and cohesive than live. One of my favorite parts is how much more Explosive Shot is integrated into the spec. Very thematic and feels like what MM has been missing.
Some of the talents don’t feel great though. 2 pt Bullseye blocking aoe things. 2 pt for eagle’s accuracy. Feel like Focused Aim could be higher. Trueshot felt boring compared to live on ST.
One other thing is I think Aimed Shot animation looks pretty boring. Not nearly as visually satisfying as rapid fire and explosive shot.
This is congruent because only BM gets exotic pets. You have only ever been able to summon those as BM.
I summon wilson as sv or bm and he gives MS, mc, petsac, pathfinding. In your example i then summon wilson as marks, and wilson forgets how to do that stuff (and you’re spending talents to get it from elsewhere). This makes less sense than what exists on live or the ptr.
In the rework they’re taking the traditional pets away though, and it’s still going to be fine. It’s okay to hold on loosely but not let go. You’re clinging a little too tightly, and I feel like you are going to lose control.
It isn’t. It absolutely sucks to play. Delves are a nightmare. And you effectively aren’t a ranged spec anymore because everything just runs up and hits you in the face. Your pet kept things at range and allowed you to actually be a marksman.
i honestly dont get this obsession with mm and pets. like they have a spec completely orientated around pets. use that one if its such an issue for them. personally i love the idea of getting rid of pets completely from mm so imo they didnt go far enough.
I’m convinced that it’s actually everything other than the pets. The spec is harder to play now. The spec has been free rating in pvp and extremely easy to use in pve since bfa any time it is tuned well. People feel like they’re losing something that was free and it scares them. People need to realize that specs like this don’t get to have the same amount of cool stuff as specs that require brain wrinkles to play. If you actually liked MM at any point, you should be excited that it’s iterating forward. Focusing on the least important aspect of the changes for the least important parts of the game for thousands and thousands of replies is very clearly about something more than just the loss of the pet liability. Especially when the literal pet spec is better for all of that content anyway.
Because it’s been the most fundamental aspect of the class for 20 years. And people have spent 20 years choosing, taming and naming their pets. And blizzard have encouraged and catered to that collecting for 20 years, making improvements to the whole pet system as recently as just a few months ago. People aren’t the odd ones for wanting to use pets on their hunters. They are a pet class first and foremost.
Well if you don’t want to use a pet you have a dozen classes that don’t use them. Go play those instead.
Yes I dont want all the other stuff despite the fact I have repeatedly said I want all the other stuff.
And its not about pets despite the fact I have repeatedly said its only about the pet and its definitely the reason I think they should offer a compromise that literally doesnt affect people who dont want pets and changes nothing but access to pets.
Nope the fact my entire focus has been solely about pets and my entire compromise is literally just basic pets with no bonuses or anything just their basic abilities and a 5% damage nerf to make them not mandatory and no other changes so literally the only change is the pet itself is a clear sign its not about pets.
Because this is opposite land and I mean the opposite of what I say apparently.
