Well they do work on and develop a very successful franchise. Those who work on the game, in a general sense, do know better than the average player. Obviously devs don’t always get things right and until we get our hands on the changes, we won’t know either.

Most of the community isn’t aware of the changes yet. This is nothing compared to what will happen when people login after 11.1 and can’t summon their pets.
I hope Blizzard loses MILLLIONS just like they did when the Legion pre-patch hit.
I’m not sure Satya Nadella (Microsoft CEO) knows how much this will hurt the bottom line.

MM will continue to be an irrelevant spec with mish-mashed fantasy and pet-agnostic gameplay while still being forced to carry around a pet. What a shame.

You can 100% do that, a pet can keep enemies in combat so they dont drink/eat, or enter stealth, you can use to attack a rogue to defend the base while he sap you, you can use to attack someone trying to cap a base while attacking someone else
Everything matters and pet was a valuable asset in arena and Bgs

They just chose the most dumb solution possible, when the answer already existed in the game, in another class(grimoire of sacrifice)
It’s just classic blizzard trying to reinventing the wheel again
They tried to remove flying, with a dumb excuse when clearly they want to slow down people, make then waste more time walking, so they expend more time playing, its all about the metric
It was so hated they had to put it back, but they didn’t want to admit defeat so easily, so they made pathfinder

No you can’t. You have to get in combat with the thing before /petattack will send your pet at something. It’s been like this since bfa. Rogue still gets restealth even with your pet already on it. You haven’t been able to send pet out of range/line to drinking healers for the same amount of time that you haven’t been able to send it at stuff while out of combat.
This season I was Survival. Having to use GCDs on my pet sucks. I’ve played more PVP as MM than I ever have as Surv.

Still haven’t provided a reason other than just “keep it the same” either. Just more insults.
The only reasons I would want a traditional pet option to be added back, without moving the utility back to the traditional pet or away from the Hunter is, tanking when I want for pve and helping to defend nodes from capture in pvp (would be well recieved by many as an option). Pet damage could be brought so very low while tuning threat super high so having the traditional pet out only serves threat holding and node defending/keeping enemies in combat so they can’t stealth or drink in pvp purposes and of course RP desires. While I don’t have a thematic derived desire to keep the traditional pet, the reasons mentioned above could allow it to be an asset to the kit that is mostly optional. If MM can’t ever have a pet I’m also likely going to be just fine, I’ll know more when the PTR is live. I’m very thankful the pet utility is moving to the Hunter/Eagle.

Yeah there are niche uses for the pet like you describe. I feel like hunter has so much to it’s kit to do all those things already, like Hunter’s Mark, Flare, traps etc. Keeping your target in combat definitely has it’s uses though I’ll give you that.

I completely agree with this. If it was just regular hunter pet damage, it’s almost so low that it doesn’t matter. The problem then becomes this entire marking mechanism. You either have to replace it with something else or make that marking mechanism come from your regular hunter pet. If it’s coming from your regular hunter pet, you’ve then got core marks mechanics tied to a pet that you have to keep alive and micromanage. You’re about as SOL without your pet as SV is at that point. Which is, I think, the dig. The eagle is untargetable and doesn’t take damage, and in some circumstances gets to ignore los. That’s part of the give and take.
