The MM rework is a problem because they decided to take the MM pet out of game space, then caved to the very vocal minority, and put the pet back into the gaming space when the spec was to be designed WITHOUT the pet in the gaming space. THIS is what is causing the current issues, as I have said MULTIPLE TIMES, it is not as simple as A+B=C to do the pets.
So now we are left with a mess, because there was never going to be enough time to reprogram all of the parts that it took to make two different pieces of programming work together. Of course, when I said this I was told I had no clue, because yeah, everybody in the forums is clueless about these things because they don’t work for Blizzard. Lord forbid they work somewhere else doing this type of work…No…that could not be…everyone who plays games doesn’t have a real life or real jobs and if they do, they work for the fast food industry. Well, that is the forum life.
This problem will not be solved until season 2 is well on its way. Then they can take the game data that will be had, and decide on whether to continue on the current path, or buck up and go with the original strategy.
That is your interpretation. I keep saying that pets are foundational to the whole class.
MM is a Hunter spec. It means MM is part of the Hunter class.
When Blizzard took out the pets, put in the eagle, and then messed around with MM’s pet coding… guess what happens?
BM and SV got pet-related bugs!
One can not remove the literal foundation of one spec and expect it to not affect the whole class!
You can go on and on about how “MM is designed without pets.”
No, it never was. It was designed with pets as our defensive toolkit from day one. Lone Wolf had to give us a big DPS increase to make it worthy for group content, where the Hunter has a tank!
It’s seriously common sense. Hunters = pet class. Hunters = designed to use pets for defense from Day One. Hunters = it’s literally in their foundational coding. MM = Hunter spec. MM = part of a pet class. MM = designed from Day One to use pets as defense.
But I’ll stop now because I’m extremely cranky and I’m just even more grumpier after a long day at work.
Bingo, the fact is pets is a huge part of the theme of hunters. It is baked into the class and messing around with that coding will ruin the class as a whole, not just one spec.
If they wanted a true gunner with no pet, they should have made a tinker class.
Pets aren’t as big a part of MM as they are SV and especially BM, but they’re still a fundamental part of the class. MM just had a tendency to put the pet away in group content because it’s primarily used as a tank.
I have a Destro warlock alt that I’ve purposefully built around Grimoire of Sacrifice, typically using it on my Felhunter pet so I can get access to an interrupt. I would never try to argue that because I prefer to play Destro petless that Destro and Affliction should lose access to demon pets and only Demonology should summon them. I’m just indulging in a very specific “corrupted fire mage” fantasy for that character.
Options are always preferable to no options.
Blizzard’s own vision for MM hunter has never made sense to me anyway. This is supposedly a “sniper” archetype, yet Barrage, Rapid Fire, and Explosive Shot are substantial elements of its rotation. That reads more like “heavy gunner” to me.
Man, I can’t believe people are still using this thread to discuss the pet again. Go make a thread in General Discussion or Hunter forum so you all can waste your time but not ours.
that has nothing to do with my question? specializations are a thing in this game, that’s why a MM hunter is different than a BM hunter and different than a sV hunter
maybe this is why MM has been an absolute mess since 2018. completely frankenstein spec with a mismatch of gameplay and a confusing fantasy. maybe next expansion it’ll be less of a mess
Take it up with the juveniles who are still fixated on angrily mentioning pets in a conversation that does not pertain to them at all. Whatever issues people have with the new MM rotation, and the myriad bugs, existed on day 1 of the PTR.
Yes, it was when they added lone wolf, which should have never been a thing.
The coding for the hunter class is so married to the idea of pets that taking it away hurts the overall class code and theme.
That is why people begged for another gun/bow class but instead of doing that, they kept trying to make the hunter into a ranger, which conflicted with the idea of man and beast vs civilization that the hunter class was based off on.
Ranger and tinker should have been in the game long ago to offset the hunters.
Hunting game with a gun and a tracking animal is not “confusing fantasy.” It’s arguably the most realistic fantasy that exists in the game. It’s been months and people still don’t understand what a hunter does.
