I personally never understood why some people think explosions are so alien on the class since it’s always been there
While they were always there, I feel they were always out of place. When you think the word “hunter”, you don’t think of incendiary explosive devices, especially at melee range. Survival throwing bombs is one of two aspects of the spec that I feel to not fit. It would be cool if Survival used glaive throw instead as its long-range AoE effect. (The other thing I feel doesn’t fit is Aspect of the Eagle… Why is the Hunter suddenly able to throw magical eagles out of his weapon for a little while? Couldn’t we put out javelins and throw them instead?)
From my experience on the PTR you need 30% haste to make MM feel good and start getting a lot of procs again. I tried all possible gear and stats combos, and settled on 20% crit (6% from gear), 30% haste, and the rest mastery, 0% vers, playing the spec you linked a few days ago.
I traditionally play with no vers in PVP as I rely on positioning. Not sure how good it will be for S2 without Fortitude of the bear for rogue stunlocks, but my plan right now is to gear for 4-set and the rest haste/mastery crafted gear
Because pvp exists, it would be nice if the haste requirement for the spec to function was similar to the 15% haste required in dragonflight, so there is more stat budget to allow for some versatility and more mastery/crit. Reducing GCD time and cast time, and increasing focus regen with some haste is cool, but I don’t think we are getting enough value per point of haste in 11.1
Because we were at one point blessed by the eagle wild god Ohn’ahra
Again, I’m really not sure why you think this way? I don’t see how explosions are so anomalous to the class. It seems you’re placing non warcraft setting/fantasies on to the warcraft hunter.
Depressing to think about how good MM BM and SV could be right now going into 11.1 if the threads hadn’t been hijacked by pointless stuff for over a month.
at least world quests and delve will be marginally easier for people who refuse to swap off MM
Has any other specs rework resulted in them being even worse than before? Feels like all the other specs that get major reworks end up overpowered, but somehow MM got quite a bit worse.
I genuinely think once people threw a fit about the initial idea for the MM rework blizz completely gave up on trying to fine tune and tweak it so now we just have a disaster of a spec that will get invited to nothing in endgame content.
weekend reminder that survival - pack leader is a lot weaker than sentinel in every way and won’t be competitive
- no mercy is extremely weak, an extra pet attack tied to kill shot does next to nothing
- shell cover is completely useless compared to sentinel’s defensive node as the defensive value is a lot lower, longer cooldown, and not controllable at all
- ursine fury and envenomed fangs choice node both are not very appealing at all
Sounds right.
Reminds me of something warlock!!!
This 1000000%. Shell Cover replacing Den Recovery is such a disappointment.
I’m praying for a last minute Hail Mary tuning pass. On a training dummy or comfortable distance from a target without pve mechanics making you move, the new rotation and the damage it has isn’t hellaciously bad. I’m not sure yet how it’s going to fare in pvp though. Seems like a decent amount more effort for the same damage. Kind of optimistic the more complicated rotation will feel more interesting than inconvenient. Time will tell.
Den recovery was THE reason to spec into pack leader. Without it spec feels weak.
Oh yes. It’s so odd, to me, seeing people act as if reworks always succeed in improvements.
No, WoW is 20 years old. Classes and specs absolutely have had failed reworks before. The Legion class design, generally, was not popular at all! (Notice how many classes/specs got big reworks going into BFA or SL.)
This is not the first time, nor would it be the last time. Pets have nothing to do with Blizzard’s handling of MM.
It’s not the end of the world. Blizzard has reverted bad reworks in the past. We’ll be fine.
It’s a terrible idea forcing Pack Leader to summon a boar, bear, or wyvern. It’s an ability that should continue to be character specific, not generic. I don’t want my Night Elf hunter’s combat modeled on Rexxar. Would you force a battle-hardened orc to summon pink butterflies and cute mice? No, so why do I have to summon muted tone, blase pets that in no way match my character aesthetically or otherwise?
Well I am not feeling as excited for this rework as I initially was. We’ll see what the next week brings but I am not expecting much.
Has the developers even given an explanation why they removed den for a turtle?
As I always believe is it’s pvp related, and one of the developers couldn’t kill a BM hunter than blamed it on den recovery. They then complained about it until it was removed.
It honestly makes zero sense for them to remove it. Shell Cover is a slap in the face to us PVP Survival Hunters.
Maybe it’s a SV hunter then. If it’s that of an impact to SV it might be revenge on them.
