Hello! Updated Issue-List for this week:
- Dark Ranger Issues:
- Shadow Hounds was not updated to reflect the new tooltip. It still does a physical Beast Cleave.
- Damage from your Shadow Hounds do not heal you via Embrace the Shadows.
- Whenever Withering Fire is Active, the buff on your character still says that it fires automatic Black Arrows.
- Consider adding Bloodshed to Withering Fire as a support for 1-minute builds.
- Pack Leader Issues:
- The Bear cannot spawn Hati/Fenryr.
- The Bear gives +1 count like other Dire Beasts to Huntmasters Call stacks.
- Spawning a Bear at 2 stacks pushes it to 3 without spawning Hati/Fenryr.
- While at 3 stacks, spawning a Dire Beast overflows the stacks, spawning a Hati/Fenryr and taking the count back to 1 instead of the normal 0.
- Pack Mentality Kill Command damage increase does not affect Animal Companion.
- In the original 11.1 Notes, it was noted that Alpha Predator would scale multiplicatively rather than additively. This does not seem to be the case as the 50% increase from Pack Mentality does not gain this benefit, making it effectively only increase damage by 43.5% rather than 50%.
- (MOSTLY FIXED) Wyvern’s Cry does not increase Auto Attack damage.
- Lead from the Front is supposed to increase the damage of your How of the Pack pets by 25%. This does not currently include the melee hits from The Bear pet.
- The Boar secondary target effect hits the main target.
- Slicked Shoes will always reduce the cooldown of Disengage even if it does not remove a movement impairing effect.
- No Mercy, when Combined with Hunter’s Prey, will cause your pet to swap to and attack whatever target is FIRST hit by Kill Shot, rather than what you are targeting. With this week, it no longer causes a full pet swap for your main pet (the Bear will still fully swap). This is still annoying.
- The Season 2 Tier Set issues:
- Proccing the season 2 2-piece will cause your GCD to “lag” briefly and become un-usable. https : //gyazo . com/31a47c4bd234a80babf2969c620fa10b
- The 200% increased Barbed Shot can be overwritten by a normal Barbed Shot, which isn’t a bug but feels bad.
- Misc Issues
- The Bloodshed spell tooltip makes no mention of the 20% increased Kill Command damage when specced into Venomous Bite.
- (NEW) Poisoned Barbs damage is not buffed by any Hunter damage buffs. This includes Bestial Wrath, Wyvern’s Cry and Thrill of the Hunt.
- Venomous Bite does not affect Animal Companion.
- Pets will both have their own seperate buff for the Tauren racial “Brawn” and the Dwarf racial “Might of the Mountain”, and inherit the Crit Damage / Healing from the player, making them benefit twice from the effect.
Thank you for reading!

Adding the pet is not good news, MM shouldn’t have a pet doesn’t fit its lore as a ranger type. It flowed better in MM before they added the pet back. The original hero evolution of hunter into the MM dark ranger type that was designed Cata/LK had no pet. Blizzard is catering to the cry babies and MM flowed so much better without the pet option. Its a wasted talent point now that most will end up having to take. And increasing the cast time was a horrible choice since most Undermine is high movement, you’re essentially killing MM

The pet is entirely optional, though, and you can make a completely viable (and optimal) spec without it.

How? This is a serious question. What changed about the rotation with the pet back?
As far as I’m aware, nothing has changed with the rotation itself. ![ ](https://d38bqls1q93fod.cloudfront.net/en/wow/images/emoji/twitter/thinking.png?v=12)

I am being completely serious when I say if Trueshot goes live as it is somebody needs to be fired and replaced.

I’ve just never been able to get behind discussing people’s livelihoods on a forum about video games. It’s frustrating for sure but I think those kinds of comments are more likely to make whoever is reading not take you seriously.

Pack Leader:
This reworked hero tree still needs a lot of help. It’s about ~18% numerically behind Sentinel due to weak hero nodes and a terrible defensive that makes it unviable in M+ compared to the alternative options for both specs.
- Shell Cover is still pretty awful; it should block damage while at max health or do something else like grant 1% Damage Reduction per pet out + ~3% base Damage Reduction.
- What is the point of this talent activating after we already took a decent sized hit? Perhaps the talent can serve as a cheat death and only proccing if it would have killed us?
- No Mercy - A single pet auto every Kill Shot reset is embarrassingly weak for a hero talent, this should be changed to something more impactful. A bleed interaction with Kill Shot would be better.
- Better Together - This isn’t a hero talent, it’s a “placeholder node” that offers no actual value and should be baked into Howl of the Pack Leader or scrapped entirely.
- Description since it’s new: Howl of the Pack Leader’s cooldown is reduced to 25 seconds. Your pets gain an extra 5% of your attack power.
- Horsehair Tether should be in the class tree under Binding Shot - Hero Trees should absolutely NOT have utility and this rework sets a bad precedent for other reworked hero trees to offer unique utility that should be baked into class trees.
- I suggested that Binding Shot did this “grouping to the center of the arrow” mechanic in the Beta feedback post several times so I’m glad to see it being implemented as Hunter gains additional group utility finally but not as a hero talent, please.
Sentinel:
- T̶h̶e̶ b̶i̶r̶d̶ c̶a̶n̶ f̶i̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ f̶l̶y̶, The bird doesn’t exist anymore which is super disappointing considering that it’s on the hero class artwork. Flying in a bigger circle works for me.
Survival:
- (New) Cull the Herd/Born to Kill - I’m not happy with these talents and prefer the old Cull the Herd which granted additional Kill Shot damage and a bleed for part of Kill Shot’s damage. Then have Born to Kill be increased bleed damage.

Choosing the pet is a damage done loss, unless you need the pet to tank to do your rotation. Just don’t summon a pet and dont talent to have a pet if doing damage without a pet is your goal.
If every hunter main quit the game for any reason, it would show there was no benefit to employing whoever is making hunter design and tuning decisions. Same goes for any spec. Thing is, most players won’t quit even when their spec is failing to do its role at necessary effectiveness. Most players will just reroll to what performs better, and complain on the forums or remain silent.

Another reminder that roar of sacrifice is really bad for marks now. The inability to apply marks is a way bigger punishment than I think was intended. It seems like there should be some kind of small negative involved with it, since there is no pet to share damage(*), however you really can’t press the button during or anytime close to trueshot, which is a huge problem for how minor of a cooldown it is. This ability really only gets used in PvP, so I know it’s probably bottom priority, but it’s actually a huge nerf. Realistically this is worse than when ret couldn’t wings with forbearance because you can actually completely waste your trueshot vs just not being able to use it. It makes the other team know immediately that you’re not doing anything for at least 20 seconds.
I have considered RoS to be a small but still mandatory function in PvP forever and will seriously consider just not using it if nothing changes.
*If you’re using unbreakable bond, your pet actually still shares your damage lol. But you still don’t get to apply marks.

I haven’t checked this thread in a few weeks, but holy crap it’s making me depressed to read. At this point maybe they should just back burner the overhaul and address the problems MM currently has on live instead. Give this nonsense more time to cook and go live with it next expansion? I’m really not looking forward to playing my hunter in 11.1 right now.

I still think Trueshot needs another look. Its really underwhelming right now and the damage buff to it doesn’t address the issue. Someone mentioned there being a big gap in that two minute downtime window where everything seems to fall off, and I agree it feels bad. It probably would be better to consider a 1 minute cooldown. Heck, I would even take something else on a 45 second CD like Windarrow. Have it hit relatively hard and increase auto attack speed another 8%-10% or something for 10 seconds.

That’s how retribution was feeling when they nerf’d hammer of light on ptr by fifty percent through a bug, then didn’t fix the bug, but buffed it by twenty five percent… So it’s still hitting 400k less than on live with identical buffs and gear. I guess I should just go Subtlety myself, okay, I can tell when I’m not being respected.
Blizzard could just buff Aimed Shot and Rapid Fire to how they felt a couple of weeks ago and leave the rest be and I’d be happy. Sick of relying on broken(buged) hero talents anyway.
I think they needed a lot more time than they had to make this many drastic changes actually work and feel okay. To fix all these bugs they’re going to get a lot of overtime and stress. Or alternatively, they could just ship it with all the bugs and poorly tuned and say we’ll fix it later to each other. I’m starting not to care at this point. Unsubscribing is still on the table.
Trueshot, getting the Divine Steed treatment of spending a ton of talent points on it for barely any benefit was not on my bingo card.
Bring back Wailing Arrow or put it into the Dark Ranger tree.
A lot of people enjoyed this ability.

Hello,
Here is my latest feedback from the testing since the new patch:
- The 10% extra crit damage to Trueshot wasn’t felt at all - if I hadn’t read the patch notes, I wouldn’t even know. Trueshot needs something more substantial.
- The undocumented update to Windrunner quiver (consuming 2 stacks of Precise shots now gives you 2 stacks of Streamline rather than 1) makes the rotation feel smoother for sure. However, with some RNG this makes you hit the downtime even faster than before.
- Almost all bugs from Unbreakable bond were fixed. Great job on that! The only bug left is that when you summon a real pet, you can see in the spell book Master’s Call/Fortitude of the bear/Bloodlust. However, they don’t work (you can’t click or activate them). If you reload UI, this bug is gone, and now in the pet spell book you truly see what the pet can do. Just please fix this one bug and it’s golden.
- The Aspect of the hydra talent no longer double-dips from Aimed shot in single target, but does from Rapid fire sometimes. I could not isolate the circumstances when this happens, feels very random.
- Roar of sacrifice now works when you are stunned, which is great, but the penalty - “Empty nest” debuff is very harsh. If you use Trushot, and people are killing you or your teammate, and you use Roar of sac, you can’t get a single proc for the whole Trueshot. This is significantly more punishing than your pet taking 10% more damage. You already can’t attack during Aspect of the Turtle, so now you “can’t attack” during Roar of sacrifice too? Seems too much. Please rethink.
Overall, aside from numbers tuning, I feel the spec would be in a good place if Trueshot was addressed.
Thank you

Wishlist:
- Trueshot reduced to 1m cooldown base with lesser versions of feathered frenzy and tensile bowstring built in. 5 talent points is too much. Current button is not strong enough for its cooldown. Lower cooldown on ts makes the spec way easier to tune because it cuts out so much dead time. Win win.
- Withering fire replaced with readiness wailing arrow. Withering fire now only makes black arrow cleave and is extremely weak for a hero tree capstone. Readiness WA would fit extremely well with a 1m trueshot model. Let BM actually have a reason to cast something.
- RoS could probably just not have a penalty for no pet marks
- Lock and load + ebon bowstring should be rppm instead of a direct %chance to proc now that auto shots are slow by design.
- Consider combining the two pvp talents that modify aspect of the cheetah. Neither is realistically worth using without the other, which makes the pvp talents feel overly bloated. Sniper’s advantage is probably way too good since it activates on volley and trueshot which are instants (ts obviously also off global) and coincide perfectly with doubletap. Consecutive concussion and ranger’s finesse are extremely dated.
I want to reiterate: the single most impactful aspect of the trueshot button press is the 60% cdr on your aimed and rapidfire charges now. Your first trueshot is going to feel like a huge burst, then you have okay damage for 30 seconds or so until you run out of charges, then you’re casting a lot of steady shots for about a minute. By the time second trueshot comes up, it feels less like an actual DPS cooldown and more like a reset to “hey i’m back to actually doing damage again because I have a string of charges”. This ~minute of deadtime does such awkward things to your overall damage profile that you’re realistically going to have to do way too much damage inside of trueshot and while you have charges for it to average out. It just makes way more sense to design everything that you’re using in these bursts around 45s-1m refresh windows with damage tuned accordingly.

Could we get a blue in here to explain why Trueshot, in it’s current state, can’t either
- Be reduced to 1 minute cooldown OR
- Be given 40% haste OR
- Reduce the cast time and channel time of aimed shot and rapid fire by 70% during it’s duration.

ok yall fixed aspect of the hydra just letting you know you forgot the 50% across the board buff to the spec to compensate
