Yar. Presumably the bonus shot is 40% in PvP as well. This makes the return of double tap in general way less concerning to me.
Double tap has been such a noobslayer talent in the past, even at 50% effectiveness, that it’s made the rest of the spec difficult to tune at a base level. Smaller but more frequent uses of it is more in line with what we would have been used to with tier set in df s4.
I’m gonna be intrigued to see how Trueshot and AImed Shot feel now that streamline bug was fixed and the trueshot talent buffs were fixed as well. I still have a very bad feeling that Trueshot is gonna remain a joke of a button to push and Aimed Shot will still be a mess but who knows.
Aimed shot goes unfathomably far under the gcd floor. So much so that you can’t actually queue up explosive and take advantage of the bonus before the aimed shot hits. This also removes the need to spend as many precise charges because you don’t need to stack to 2 on purpose.
Just a reminder for those saying we should just be fine with it:
There’s 1 simple change that affect their plan for the spec in ZERO ways, but gives us the full control over HOW we want to play:
We can still summon a pet if we choose. But doing so disables the passive ability Eyes in the Skies. (AKA what causes the eagle to do damage)
That’s all. It allows us to use a pet for soloing, delves, etc, but doesn’t give us that passive pet damage AND the passive eagle damage. We would retain the eagle utility, as that is literally baked into the class rework, and they would simply have to make it so pets dont get masters call, fortitude of the bear, or the leech, movement speed, or health if you’re marksman.
They’d have to un-break some of the talents they did like Wilderness Mending affecting Mend Pet again, and Intimidation working if you have a pet out, etc.
Anyone against this is quite literally against Player Choice.
This is the simplest thing for them to fix without screwing over a ton of people.
Also, more people should be outraged they’re taking away a defensive from marksman (fortitude of the bear), on top of our pocket tank, and not really improving our survivability at all to compensate. 3% damage reduction isnt much in comparison.
Also, they REALLY need to un-tie Trueshot from Tenacious/Cunning.
Our damage cooldown should not require speccing into utility.
The new Trueshot was probably my least favorite change in this batch. Trueshot felt so satisfying to press before. At least with all talents spent on it (which are 5, quite a lot!) , the new Trueshot seemed good-ish when I adjusted my rotation during it, but it certainly doesn’t feel that good.
They need to just start baking things into Trueshot because it is ridiculous that 5 TALENT POINTS have to be used to make it even remotely viable as a DPS cooldown classification.
Things being impossible in your mind and things being impossible in their minds are not the same.
Yeah, maybe they are not willingly to do, doesnt mean its not possible.
And they already stated why they do these things before, and had to state why they changed back, its our “job” to remind then they are doing a big mistake again.
It would help if some “users” just accept that some people want their pet, and fighting against then AGAINST THE OPTION, is something petty and how can i say in the nicest way possible, mean spirited
It doesnt matter
no one is wanting then to be on the same power level.
Otherwise we would not have different talents, who clearly are underperforming.
Like, genuinely both capstone Trueshot talents feel like they should be baked in. Trueshot feels horrible without Unerring Vision, and there was even a point (I think SL? Maybe DF) we didn’t grab Trueshot because we didn’t have Unerring Vision as an option, because base Trueshot was SO bad. (Yes, they’ve revamped Trueshot since then but still, not very fun to press without things like UV)
And Double Tap could be baked in too, tbh.
The other 2 talents are perfectly fine for capstone talents that augment Trueshot. They’re optional, but impactful. Which is what talents should be.
Unerring Vision is mandatory, and Double Tap, although not mandatory, makes it feel more impactful.
Also, as I said a bit above, Trueshot should not be tied to Cunning/Tenacious.
They’ve literally told us they don’t want cooldowns tied to utility talents when it comes to other classes/specs, why is this being treated different?
I reckon it might just be a function of there needing to be points spent on something that prevents you from using all of the best single target and aoe talents at the same time. We used to have to waste more points further on up the tree on basic stuff we have baked in now. Just thinking out loud on why. I also don’t think it feels best to have to take a bunch of modifier talents in order for the cooldown to feel worth pressing.
It would feel a bit better if we only needed 3 talents for Trueshot full effectiveness, but there were 2 other talents in the column required to reach Trueshot. In the end we would still need to spend 5 talents, but those 2 extras on the way would at least feel like they were giving some extra perks outside of the CD.
The crazy thing about this needing to spend points issue is that the new MM tree is one of the most bloated of all the specs. So many options and points to be spent. We could use some pruning.
I do agree that it would probably feel better than what we currently have. I wouldn’t mind if that were incorporated into the spec.
I really think if they proceed with what we have now on the PTR, they should consider Volley granting both Trick Shots and Streamline for its duration. The only thing I can see being an issue with it is it has the potential to encourage us to take Volley in single target, which I don’t believe the devs want us to do? It might help a bit with sustain if that were the case.
That’s cause having a pet was an inferior choice for raids and M+. Players would naturally choose the strongest choice over the weakest, it’s called maximizing.
So naturally it would appear that all MM was using LW if the only data they focused on was the top forms of content. They took a sample size of the top players than made their assumptions that this was what all players were choosing.
What’s even the point of the Eagle if the issues was pets being tied to utilities that could just be stripped and given to MM?
They have solved the issue once before by just giving MM access to pet abilities without having your pet summoned. However, they went back on this when MM was given back pets.
Why is the only solution for MM issues requires that pets to be completely stripped from them? There is middle ground that takes utility from the pet to give MM access to them without the need of them. while leaving the pet as just an optional choice for open-world content.
first off: the ice elemental and the eagle are entirely different mechanics. the spotter eagle has a random 30% chance of popping IF you use a “precise shot” empowered skill then the eagle enhances your damage by 10%. the ice elemental is in some ways worse; it’s not random like that because it pops for 25 seconds when icy veins (5 min cooldown) is called up then is done for 3 minutes.
all that said: they culminate with the same weakness - a random waste of dps because we have very little way to control the call if we’re striving for “always on cooldown” for the valuable buff skills. this is, on the bottom line a way to standardize how a class plays, regardless of a player’s intention to customize, practice and perfect their personal play style.
the frost mage is a much less engaging class that has a wee, little frost elemental that half of the time pops out at the end of a fight and just wanders around doing nothing because it got to the fight late…probably going to be the same with that eagle: random BS going nowhere, doing nothing.
Explosive Shot will also grant Streamline if Precision Detonation is chosen. One could go without Volley since Explosive Shot damage has been increased in order to have another means to generate stacks.
Although, the Volley/Salvo route could prove to be better as the option for hitting two targets with Volley will grant two stacks of Streamline (Salvo fires two Explosive Shots. This was tested in the PTR).
Hey, you know what, at least we aren’t still having to spend talent points on things like making steady shot generate focus. Marks tree has felt more than an expansion behind for a long time lol.
