Feedback: Hunters

I overlooked that. I am going to check it out in the morning. Thanks for pointing it out! Edit: Something I would like to see with Volley is Streamline that active for the entire duration of Volley and not just your next Aimed Shot.

How many stacks of streamline? That might kinda make volley a better button than trueshot. It seems like new streamline is intentionally designed such that you’re not ever really just spamming aimed shot and rapid fire.

As far as the pet debate, I just have this to add, the common pattern, so far, has been:

  1. Blizzard removes pets
  2. Blizzard gives DPS and Utility to compensate for loss of pet
  3. Blizzard does not address the issues with self sustain for either solo or group content
  4. people complain about losing their pet, a lot could be based around #3
  5. Blizzard adds pets back to MM instead of trying to come up with spec specific ways to make pet less MM work in all 3 areas: DPS, Utility and self sustain (defensives/self healing/etc)

I think just one stack and you would get a second stack with a Rapid Fire that would be consumed. With the increased cast time of Aimed Shot I think it would help prevent the need to cast Multi-Shot mid Volley in AoE situations. Right now you seem to be able to get one and a half Aimed Shots (or two and a half. I don’t remember off hand) and a Rapid Fire in during Volley and lose Trick Shots the moment Volley Ends. When that happens you just hit one mob in AoE situations if you were mid Aimed Shot cast. Maybe I am just playing Streamline badly, though, and not aligning things very well.

Enter volley with streamline (or use salvo). Cast aimed shot to expend streamline and then rapid fire to generate another, which should let you get another aimed shot in your volley.

When the servers are back up I am doing to play around with it some more. I didn’t realize we got streamline through Explosive Shot. If we can get three full uses of Aimed Shot during Volley and it all seems to line up well then I am happy.

You won’t get three without a lnl proc unless you’re counting the extra one from double tap with the talent. You can get an aimed rf aimed though.

There was a time that I was very close at fitting two Aimed Shots and a Rapid Fire into a Volley window. It seems it could be possible albeit rare. This was with a double-Streamline Aimed Shot cast at 0.95 seconds.

I found that it wasn’t very difficult to maintain two stacks of Streamline, with one stack being almost guaranteed. There were a few times I had to cancel a cast of Aimed Shot with a quick step due to clumsy gameplay on my part.

Oh right, of course. I said three but I honestly am having difficulty remembering if it was one and a half or two and a half. At long as I can get them to align I will be happy. If it seems like I’ll be needing to multi-shot to not lose Trick Shots I think its an issue.

Very possible even with relatively low haste (I think I was between 10-12 base on ptr). Just requires you enter volley window with stacks.

P. Much.

It’s also pretty terrible that they have ignored the most contentious change.

I so desperately want Trueshot to eventually reach a point where it isn’t a joke of a 2 minute cooldown but that doesn’t seem to be happening.

No Mercy for Pack Leader is very underwhelming, it should be swapped from Claw/Swipe/Bite to Kill Command and should be effected by beast cleave. Kill Shot is already an extremely low priority button for Beast Mastery hunters, you only press it to apply Serpent Sting in single target and almost never in aoe as PL, and we’re losing that next patch. Swapping it to Kill Command and be affected by your cleave talents would give it a nice push in value.

If it goes ahead like this I’ll be very curious to see what happens after. Because yes, it’s mostly been the same couple dozen people here going back and forth for the last (almost) month. A lot of folks like to point out that we don’t really represent the playerbase, so who are we to say our position is right. But that knife can cut both ways. As the people who dont like this change don’t necessarily reflect the feelings of the playerbase, neither do the people who like the changes.

There are a massive number of players who don’t follow development at all and who are likely going to be completely blindsided by this change. Many of whom will be extremely upset to find they no longer have access to pets on the spec they enjoy playing, after doing so for 20 years. It will be interesting to see how it is handled.

youre on the right track here but having it tied to kill command would be a bit awkward for SV.
I think it should definitely do something else than it is right now though. extra pet basic attacks does NOTHING for sv and BM really hates pressing kill shot.

The Tenacious/Cunning node shouldn’t exist in the Spec tree, move it to be the starting node in the Class tree for MM hunters

I don’t currently play a hunter, but have friends who have since vanilla and the idea of losing pets they worked so hard to get back then is honestly devestating. The core part of being a hunter is the pets. I’ve contemplated creating one recently specifically because I like the idea of pets. I think removing pets from MM hunters is a poor decision which will hurt game play moving forward. And customer loyalty.

I only play MM and none of this appeals to me. Every single change described here serves to push me away from the spec.

They’re not just negative changes. The philosophy guiding the decisions here is inherently flawed. Why would you go to such lengths to make the hunter specs more distinct in such an artificial way, right after the expansion where so much work was done to unify the baseline specs of all the classes into proper talent trees and spellbooks like players traditionally enjoyed? It’s an extremely bizarre shift in priorities and makes me doubtful that the commitment to “keep growing” outlined at the end is anything more than an intention to increase novelty in order to distract from the reduced quality.

I’m not sure how you make the Tenacious/Cunning node work on the class tree for BM/SV.

No it hasn’t. It has always been a half-baked compromise because of the pet. Until now.
