No it doesn’t. I addressed your single point of contention. If using a pet makes you do less damage to make up for having a pet, then it becomes optional instead of mandatory.
Pay attention instead of just rushing to say I’m wrong.

If you take a % damage loss for using the pet, that outscales the damage you get from the pet.
So? That means the people using the pet would be using it because they want to, not because they’re forced to.
That is literally the entire problem. It doesn’t work that way.
That’s literally how it works right now, but makes the pet optional for those who don’t want it. It’s not perfect, but fixes the “friction” problems entirely while still allowing utility.
The pet is not optional in PvP. The problematic situations where you have to use it in m+ and raiding are explained in the blue post and like 200 times in this thread.
Explain why it wouldn’t be optional.
That would all be solved by the rework of moving the utility to the Hunter. You’re just repeating yourself at this point while not taking anything we’ve said into account.
To be completely frank, I’ll be cancelling my subscription if this change goes through. I never minded the Lone Wolf build being optimal in raiding content, and I agree there needed to be a solution to the annoyance of summoning and dismissing a pet for lust in M+, but I’ve been playing MM for twenty years now, and I’ve always had the option to have my pet. I’ve had this wolf since I was six–my parents even helped me pick him out. There is no universe where I change the spec my hunter mains when she’s been Marksmanship since Vanilla, and there is no universe where I play the game knowing my pet is just gone.
I’ve enjoyed a lot of things about TWW so far, and I am really looking forward to Midnight. But this change is a dealbreaker for me. Just keep the new lust ability alongside the continued option of Lone Wolf; it’s that easy.
I think they need to make trick shots work as apassive buff activated after casting multi shot like it is for BM - lasting for 8 seconds and making aimed shot and rapid fire cleave for 75% of the original damage to up to 8 targets for exemple.
It isn’t optional because you need the utility that the pet currently does on live. It doesn’t make sense to go through the work of removing and adding the same abilities twice if you are keeping the same pet. You would just leave it on the pet.
Or they rework things so you can double dip.
I am being serious here. You may want to seek immediately medical attention for your short term memory problems.
Because the only other explanation is that you’re deliberately ignoring what we’ve said so you can just keep arguing. Which is it?
Yeah so about who is actually doing some attacking
How about you stop ignoring what we’ve said so you can keep arguing with points we countered weeks ago.
Its useless, he clearly knows and understand the situation, he is being obtuse on purpose to bait people into his level
He repeated the same nonsense 3 times already
I found that muting five people was enough to end the harassment. By replying, you’re just giving them a voice to antagonize other people.
The arguments get us nowhere. The simple fact is that I will miss my pet and I hate BM. End of story. I’m not going to repeat my desperate attempt to find another class like I did in Legion.
Without getting too deep into any discussions here, I just wanted to add my voice to the pushback against the changes to Marksmanship by linking a reply I made in another thread:
And, so as not to repeat points already made, emphasize that I strongly agree with what the OP said there, especially regarding the key differences between the specs that make BM an unsuitable substitute.
Many other points I agree with can and have been said by others. But to keep my input simple, I sincerely hope the devs reconsider this rework, because it effectively removes the original, much loved hunter playstyle and fantasy from the game entirely.
So, let’s go over things again.
First: Make Bloodlust baseline for all Hunters. Give Ferocity pets a different ability. For example, a personal damage buff on a 2m cooldown.
Second: Make Mortal Wounds baseline for all Hunters. Take the Mortal Wounds pets and give them different abilities. There are plenty of other pet abilities to choose from that people aren’t complaining about.
Third: Remove the Tenacious/Cunning talent node from the MM Hunter tree. Let MM Hunters choose between Tenacity, Ferocity, and Cunning through the stable, the same way other Hunters will be able to.
Fourth: Intimidation: Make this talent so that it works either with the eagle or your pet, depending whichever you’re using at the time.
Fifth: Wilderness Medicine can also be split up to change depending on if you have your pet out or not. No pet? Then it gives the new buff so you don’t lose out on the talent point. If you have your pet out, then it works the same way it does now.
Sixth: Spotter’s Mark. Just don’t use the eagle graphic if you have your pet out.
Seventh: Damage. If you have your pet out, then you do X% less damage to make up for the pet’s damage.
Let me know if I missed anything, and please be as specific as possible over what I missed. That means I don’t want to hear stuff like “it’ won’t work” or “it’s too much work” or any other vague nonsense.
I don’t like that they double downed on MM two-target cleave. They could have just made trickshots work on 2 or more targets and you wouldn’t need the hydra aspect talent. We’re still capped at 5 targets with no option to increase it with Light Ammo disappearing, they seem to be stuck on this 1&2 or 3-5 target thing for marksman.
I would also prefer if trickshots had charges instead of a timer, at least for the volley portion of trickshots, at the very least increase the trickshot duration from volley to 8 secs.
Losing Wailing Arrow is pretty unfortunate, though having it in the spec tree was strange. Hopefully there’s a way for it to be redesigned for the Dark Ranger tree?
I think it worked fine for the spec tree. It’s the markman tree. It makes sense they’d have some headline shot ability that the others didn’t. I am definitely big upset it’s been removed. And the wind arrows. They were a cool visual flair. It seems like they removed it all because they ran out of space. But frankly the new tree is bloated as hell with lots of talents that should be combined. So maybe they’ll take another pass at it and it can be brought back.
