Feedback: Herald of the Sun Paladin in The War Within

Probably not, being that lightforged blessing only effects 4 others, I will assume it will proc on those that it heals.

We will see. Anxiously awaiting beta to go live.

Indeed. This hero tree unexpectedly excited me, as it brings retā€™s back to the reason why I choose a paladin in the first place, to be able to damage and heal my allies at the same time. I hope more support is boosted on pallies as a whole in TWW. (cons healing buffed for example)

If the Druid hero talent tree can namedrop and reference Elune, why canā€™t Anā€™she, the literal sun god of WoW, be referenced here?

Eluneā€™s influence is a core feature of the Druid class, the different races all interpret the moon deity slightly differently however it is all Elune in the end (see the Lunā€™alai).

Paladin racial flavor is so granular that you really cannot pick one raceā€™s and apply it to the others in broad strokes (Humans/Belves calling upon Anā€™she or Tauren referencing a Naaruā€™s power like the Draenei). Iā€™d prefer they leave it vague enough that players can personally infer/interpret it themselves than forcing one raceā€™s flavor on the others.

Subjective take though, Iā€™ve always held disdain for Tauren paladin lore.

thats lowkey kinda dumb?

cause each non human dwarf drae uses the sun in their light lore one way or another. the bloodelves being the first paladin race to mention the sun as a title ā€œsunreaversā€ the zandalari inspired by south american natives who had multiple sun deities each one being ā€œgod of kingsā€ as well like rezen also he had alot of sun aspects in his design and lore, tauren literally being sunwalkers and worshiping anshe the sun goddess to give them their powers of light, dwarfs can also argued to have aspects of the sun in their paladin lore.

so yes anshe in a lore perspective has alot to do with paladin lore as a whole except for human and draeneis (even draeneis kinda sus cause frankly whose to say anshe isnt a naruu) its just blizzard didnt take the time to make these lore connections noticeable to people and always used subtle crumbs to make connections. thus leading to this notion of paladins ā€œmust always be human centricā€ or else the human paladin rpers get angry

like you can be subjective thats fine, not everyone is gonna like every part of paladin lore, i personally hate the fact the naruu exist. but we have to do our part to recognize that certain things has always been apart of lore in some aspect and it being shoved to the side to blanket all paladins under ā€œhumanā€ is kinda silly

but again i dont care about names so it w/e to me

As long as we all agree with the consensus among real (alliance) paladins to not reference the heathen sun demon anā€™she, Iā€™ll be content

The Sunreavers are a Blood Elf racial faction, not a paladin centric one. Iā€™m also remiss that Blood Elves lost their unique take on Paladins after TBC, but thatā€™s so long ago that a return to it isnā€™t possible.

Donā€™t get me wrong though, I loathe the human centric take on overall Paladin flavor as well. I desperately want Night Elf Paladins enough that Iā€™d be willing to overlook the dumb human hammers and what not that we have baked into our spell effects.

Not sure where Rezan and the Sun comes into play, as Ztroll paladins are more of a Loa faith based iteration of it. Either way, herald of the sun and mountain thane both have the same potential issue of forcing another raceā€™s flavor onto other races in a frictional way that Iā€™d rather not see the devs double down on by making Herald an absolute Anā€™she sourced bit of lore.

Iā€™d like to think some BEā€™s donā€™t revere the light like liadrin does, and still see it as a tool. They are still a very arcane based society after all, and we sometimes run into the old plot point of an blood elf trying to control a power.

Leaning this whole new story of the sun and light on human themes is plain boring and just lazy writing. Anything that mentions the usage of the ā€œsunā€ already mentions Anā€™she. Just like how the powers of the moon reference Elune.

Humans worshipping shiny stone is so unoriginal.

People arenā€™t asking for much here. They just want to see more than this weird wet dream fantasy the writers have for Elune.

But the dark souls gag! They want to do the dark souls sun guy theme!

They already dooo tho heā€™s a garrison companion.

Once is never enough. Like their rambo guy in bfa/cata.

I have to not like it on principle because it means my favorite class got the wrong celestial body God integrated into its lore.

My kingdom for elunite moon knights :face_holding_back_tears:

Space goat holy power coming from ancient celestial crystalline beings actually makes sense though.

For sure, but Iā€™m a human. Doesnā€™t really work for RP purposes. Still like it overall though!

the problem is that alot of the other ones are race specific. Chosen of elune (Night elf) Dark ranger(Blood elf undead even if in name only) Mountain thane(dwarven based off of the dwarven wc units). So it just feels bad to have a sun based thing thats an easy win for Anā€™she, a tauren sun god and just ignore it for what is very boring generic stuff. Also I really dislike the arathi offshoot because somehow with so many old races its humans down there. Not like trolls or elves or gnomes. Id prefer it to be a horde race like a race of tauren migrated down there or taunka because as of now its all alliance races and aesthetic down there which has been a real problem with alot of recent main line stories. but all of that is likely for a different thread
