Feedback: Hearthstone Event

Finally managed to do the event.

It sucks.

For a celebration of 10 years of Hearthstone it feels like the development leadership cracked open a warm beer and told the devs, “Hearthstone it.” With no active direction.
The first few days of it were sloppy and uncoordinated with bugs and shoddy implementation and even now it’s just unfun having to come back every hour on the hour at a chance of killing the boss and still getting no loot.

And they even screwed up putting in a pseudo-hearthstone game into WoW. They could’ve done so much better for it, but just didn’t. It’s disappointing.

1: Stop with the hourly-events.
Let people do things when THEY have time, not when the GAME decides.
MoP-Scenarios are a great example of this (Or BFA islands); You just did it whenever YOU wanted to. Not when the GAME decided.
Now you often sit around waiting for X hour for Y event; and you are unable to do Z event if it happens anywhere near the same time.
Stressing between things is also crap.

2: Stop the RNG bs.
People with integrity and self-worth are tired of the RNG stuff…
We want deterministic ways to get things, so our time (and money) isn’t wasted.
Feeling like we actually progress on things >>>> RNG.

3: Stop FOMO.
Limited edition - etc; is HORRIBLE.
Especially when you combine it with point 1 and 2 — makes people feel stressed, burned out, tired, disrespected and like you’re only in it for the time metric; not to actually make a fun game for people.

What Blizzard should learn from this, and WORLD BOSSES … is that looting from the mob/boss you just kill has a tactile sense of reward. It’s an ACTION that makes the overall gameplay feel complete. I killed it… LET ME LOOT IT.

Because when I can’t loot it/ don’t get loot … it feels like something went wrong or bugged out.

I don’t know why when we kill a World Boss, it has to automatically put gear in our bag. Why not let us loot the boss like any other thing?? When I kill a World Boss and get no loot… I don’t recognize that as “I just didn’t get anything”, it just feels like something went wrong. Put 1 grey item on there. One takeaway from Legion: Sticky Volatile Substance. It dropped from EVERYTHING. And yet, it was enough to know nothing went wrong.

We need the same thing on this event boss. And on World Bosses. Really, on anything of consequence. There should always be SOMETHING so you know you did your part correctly, and while you may not have received the thing you wanted, you at least didn’t do anything WRONG.

Tried the event for the first time last night.

It was Unimpressive.

i showed up in Valdrakken at :42 after so i sat around for 15 minutes waiting. I suspected it starts at the top of the hour but wasnʻt certain so i just stayed there doing nothing. (thats on me )
Found the shady vendor and got my 5 cards. after 5 or so minutes of being bored i bought 5 more just because.
When the table spawned at the top of the hour i stood next to it, used my 5 cards to finish the quest.
Portal spawned and after waiting a bit more enemies spawned and we finished them off pretty quickly. 3 or 4 minutes of combat after 20 ish minutes of waiting around.
I got 2 more wild cards.
Muchly Unimpressed.
I used up all my wild cards standing by a hearthstone table and when I was done doing that I went to play something else.

Nothing about the event made me want to hang around and run it again. I am not a gambling kind of person, RNG is not attractive to me.
If the bosses dropped some kind of currency to buy the items off of a vendor i might have been more inclined to stay logged on and gather the items.
“Ooh 5 more kills and I can get that thing!”
but instead i was more like
“Meh, waste of time”

You actually think they have a QC Dept?

LOL…To be young and naive again…

(But in all seriousness, I totally agree with you. I had my 5th grade grandson point out several basic spelling errors in NPC dialog. A 5th grader!! Yet this is an international multi $B company, and can’t seem to understand spelling and punctuation.)

Due to a string of bad luck, I’m still playing on a PC that meets the minimum 2024 requirements. The first 2 attempts were before all 3 portals spawned sumultaneously. Was unable to get a hit in before PC completely seized up until after the area cleared out…

Simultaneous spawning did help with the lag, and I was able to get hits in the second 2 times. I got 1 blue card (a duplicate of a card I got from the quest start) and a few wild cards the first drop, and 2 wild cards the second.

Meanwhile, there are people all over FB and YouTube claiming they got multiple “good” drops (pet, mount, bag) from one spawn? It’s frustrating to the point that after 4 hours, I went to my appx 6th playthrough of Skyrim instead.

I personally much prefer currency earning events that can be done on multiple alts like the Valentines event. I know up front what I have to do to earn the reward I want and don’t mind putting in the time and effort. Yes, there were certain portions of the quest chain or dailies where there was some competition for resources, but, as a night owl, it wasn’t so bad for me

As an example of my poor luck, I own 8 d20’s and not a single one of them roll above an 11 during pivotol moments in D&D campaigns…

First time with WoW?

So many people here wanting instant gratification.

For an event that lasts literally one week then it’s gone forever? Yes. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be guaranteed to get all the items from this event we want. Your post makes no sense and seems to be made for the purposes of trolling.

I’ve done it about 5 times total and have everything. You seem very angry, get help.

You don’t seem to understand how RNG works. Get some help.

Its not so much that now …only having a week to get the items does tend to make you a bit insane now…its a one time history event now it will never be repeated again.

So unless the Trading post might have some of the items down the road we don’t know yet…
