In my opinion, the main design flaw of WG is how the first teamfight determines the winner like 90% of the time… that’s just so lame
I’ve seen AV comebacks, I’ve seen IoC comebacks, I’ve seen Ashran comebacks… but it’s pretty rare to see a WG comeback (due to the first teamfight usually determining the winner).
I just don’t enjoy WG much for this reason and also because I’m just not a fan of “vehicle PvE”… I queued up to PvP, not to play “blocks and tonka trucks”
Just too much PvE for my tastes, and it can get kinda boring during all the PvP-less downtime/driving around the map for like ~30+ minutes.
But when Southshore vs Tarren Mill is up?? I can spend hours playing that one, and I don’t get bored at all
honestly the recent changes have made it more vehicle v vehicle than it was before, and they have done nothing to change how the bg works or flows, they have only made it more difficult for the supporting ground troops who do the actual pvp part.
I just got out of an Alliance Isle of Conquest where the Horde’s siege engine was somehow “healing”??? Is this some kind of exploit? Never seen this before
We lost SOLELY due to being unable to kill the siege engine (and only that vehicle), we attacked it and attacked it and attacked it… and it just mysteriously kept “healing” back up to full. Everything else in the match was going well (controlled hangar, good defense, etc).
Can engineers (just a guess) “heal” vehicles or something? If this is something that is part of their toolkit, it needs to be disabled in PvP asap. Definitely seems like an exploit of some kind - or if it’s something “legit” that engineers or PvE items can somehow do then it is totally broken.
Whatever it is that can “heal” vehicles in these bgs, it needs to be disabled asap mr. dev person
its a bug, the engineer repair kit only repairs a few hundred HP.
AV also has some bugs, crossing the alliance bridge to DB causes battleground enemies addon to blank out, while that is not the devs fault in the same area when you die you can rez right at your corpse, you aren’t ported to a GY, so something is wrong with that area.
we spent the better part of a night trying to figure out the siege healing bug, tried all sort of things and never could get it to work, so its something server side.
…or someone on that Horde team who was privy to the exploit and knew how to pull it off/how to do it
Siege engine healing itself one time can be explained away as a bug/fluke, but healing itself back up to full MULTIPLE times?? It’s hard to come to any other conclusion but an exploit of some kind (presumably done intelligently by some player on the Horde team).
And that game was going so well until the siege engine came out, rip
idk, we had it self healing a bit in one game, thought we narrowed it to a priest talent, but then couldn’t replicate it the next game, even in the same game at one point the siege stopped healing and broke.
Please fix the god-awful lag during 40v40 fights in epic battlegrounds.
I just lost a Wintergrasp on defense because our entire team began lagging and nobody could cast anything for 20 seconds. So we all rotted down and died. For 20 seconds I sat there trying to cast exhiliration and use my healthstone. Only to die to residual dot damage.
No, it wasn’t just me. A large number of people were making known their frustration with the lag in the chat.
Honestly I think it has something to do with patch 8.2 and all these different “essences”. I don’t remember nearly as much teamfight lag before 8.2 and “essences”
Before 8.2 the 40v40 teamfight lag was SOMEWHAT tolerable, but after 8.2? The first hangar teamfight in Isle of Conquest (in particular!) is almost unplayable at times… sometimes you literally hit a button and wait 5-7 seconds for it to “go off”, just can’t properly PvP with such a delay
And of course, exactly like you mentioned, the unlucky combination of lagging out + incoming burst damage = certain death
Lagging out during an intense 40v40 teamfight is ESPECIALLY deadly …because whether you live or die can LITERALLY depend on your defensive, healthstone, health pot, etc going off the moment you push the button. If your defensive/healthstone/immunity/etc is off by even a few seconds due to lag?? RIP
Trying healing with that lag. Last night at one of the hanger fights I really was trying to heal people as they died around me. By the time a heal finally went off the person was dead. Hit a button and nothing would happen.
My grumble for this lunch time is the lack of player number balance with wg when it starts. I have experienced down to 19 vs 40. That is just a waste of time. Can’t we have some semblance of balance between team sizes before it starts?
Like a wg I was in last night, with how ingrained sr is the target. It is not often most of the team will willingly go bt instead just because we are so far down in numbers. Then it goes down hill from there.
ashran too, we had a pretty bad lag spike by the alliance mage tower the other night that lasted about 30 seconds, both teams came to a complete halt and couldn’t do anything the entire time, its somewhat surreal to see both teams just standing there doing nothing.
Teamfight lag is mostly intermittent in Ashran, it happens only here and there.
Isle of Conquest first hangar teamfight seems to be the worst offender by far, there’s just “something” about 80 players all being in the same small area (hangar flag area) that makes the servers choke up, just insane lag there at times
Have you noticed a pattern if it could be any particular server or data centre?
Just checked my current ping times. Frostmourne 47ms and Stormrage 265ms. They look normal for my Australian vs US ping times. In the past with the really bad lag in Ashran my worst lag seemed to nicely correspond with low ping times so an Australian server.
Learnt to dread an Ashran if my ping time was low.
The timing is about right. If that one finished at something like 0 - 101 then you are welcome. Alliance will do anything to please our horde overlords.

As a solution to this problem I recommend you guys simply add Southshore vs Tarren Mill as a “permanent” bg in the list so that it’s available all the time.
As for the “brawl” slot that it would leave empty, I’m sure you guys could think of something else to take it’s place. Some possible ideas for a replacement brawl: Wintergrasp, “endless” Ashran, “endless” Korrak AV, etc
