Feedback: Epic Battlegrounds

My current stats this season are pretty bad.

AV:

IoC:

Not many games, but imbalance is quite apparent.

9 - 23 (~30% win ratio)

I’ve been in a few AV’s where we had anywhere from 0 to 2 healers. Still won.

So I’ve played a few AV’s now since the patch and there appears to be a bug involving the graveyards.

Basically you’ll die somewhere on the map
let’s say you die close to SHGY. For some reason, and I’m guessing it’s a patch bug, you end up spawning aaaaaaaaaaallllll the way south in either the Horde starting cave or the Frostwolf Relief Hut, even when the Horde controls SHGY (for example).

The same thing is happening with other GY’s such as Stormpike GY, the Horde can have control of Stormpike GY but for some strange reason when you die you will respawn all the way south in the bottom of the map. It makes no sense.

I’m guessing this is just a patch glitch or unintended bug, because I don’t remember this issue with graveyards and spawning before patch 8.1 hit

At least you spawned at a GY. Twice when I was supposed to spawn at SHGY I dc’d. GY appeared for a second and then boom, disconnected.

I experienced the same thing on my Alliance toon, on more than one occasion I got killed and then just as I appeared as ghost form in the GY suddenly
“you have been disconnected” error message appears on screen and I get kicked out to the log in screen.

Whether it’s Horde or Alliance, something fishy is happening with the graveyards, patch 8.1 seems to have somehow messed up the whole graveyard/re-spawning mechanism

im a bit confused as to why you were ok with alliance winning 95% of these for so long, but after horde have been winning them for a few months you suddenly see a problem

I figured we’d see an IoC update making the bosses immune to siege weaponry outside their castle, but I guess not.

People have been complaining about that forever.

Yeah kind of surprised they didn’t fix that, though today was pretty funny when alliance broke into our keep first and had our boss to 70% before we got in (everyone screaming we’d lose), I used a demo from mid to wipe most of their team on our boss, I’m sure their healers were trying to figure out why 30 people were losing half their life from AoE damage.

Your changes still equate to the Alliance winning about 5% of the Epic BGs they enter. Either the maps are horrible or all the PVPers who understand BG strategy have went to the horde side.

I’m serious. I dread having to do Epics to get my conquest points. Just make them all 40 points x3 that’s until you cap out all your points. That way we can choose random BGs where the losses are bad but not nearly as bad as EPIC BGs and Brawls.

Horde have their poopoo together. Alliance are completely clueless.

Because the horde understand how to win BGs. Alliance, after 15 years of this game, still go in as if it’s the first time they’ve ever PVP’d. CLUELESS as usual.

Hats off the Horde. They come to play and win, not like Ally who come and try to have 1-2 experienced Alliance carry them.

IoC ends far too quickly due to lack of incentive to defend. It’s not very fun, but it’s balanced.

AV, due to the infamous IB choke, still tremendously favors the Horde. Raising the SHGY didn’t help much because Alliance territory is far too open and there is not a good choke point.

Maybe I have been lucky, but most of my Alliance groups have gone in with a winning plan.

Even tonight we had no tank and 3 healers in AV so that was a little depressing to see. We were losing but not by much and managed to get a sneaky (late in the game) Galv kill, then defended hard, people listened to instructions and we ground out a win.

Alterac Valley
Played 268
Wins 214
Win % 79%

I main on Horde, but have a few Alliance characters and all 3 Alliance have good win rate for AV and IOC.

Mr. dev person,

The hotfix did not work!! The glaive thrower is STILL capable of exploiting the Horde boss from 100%-0% in like under 5 seconds. I was in a number of Alliance IoC games this weekend and the glaive exploit is alive and well. I also observed Alliance players actively discussing it in the chat.

All it takes is a competent glaive driver with good aim and the Horde team can lose the match even despite starting on the Alliance’s boss much earlier. For example, the Horde team can have the Alliance’s boss at like 20% while the Horde boss is at 100% and still lose due to the glaive exploit/cheat, that’s not “play nice, play fair”.

I’m not sure who tested the hotfix (or if it even was tested before being released), but those underlings obviously didn’t do a very good job

This exploit is still live, the last time I witnessed it was yesterday (12/24).

It seems another hotfix is in order mr. dev person, please hotfix the glaives to put a stop to this cheating once and for all

Thank you

A couple things I want to point out about AV and why the Horde has an advantage on the map:

  1. Currently, Towers are much harder to assault than bunkers. Alliance players first have to contend with the NPCs on the bunker, which unlike the Horde they have to pull to get into the flag. This used to be balanced by the fact that the bunker archers hit like trains and made fighting anywhere near the bunker impossible for horde, but since the first 2 bunkers are guaranteed to be races now, this becomes a balancing issue instead. Along with that, the confined nature of towers makes them horrible to assault, as the whole room can easily be AoE’ed into the floor.
  2. One of the major chokepoints for the Alliance is the lead up to their bridge. The small area to move around in and the climbable terrain gives alliance a good place to hold Horde offense. One of the best things that can be done to put the Alliance on even footing in AV is to make the hills and terrain on the way in actually work like terrain. Currently, the terrain doesn’t actually effect line of sight and cast be cast thru by anyone. This actually is a major advantage for the Horde despite working for everyone, since anything that allows more people to cast without being in the main corridor is good for the attacking side.

Time played metric in action? This doesnt make them more “epic” at all. It just makes it take longer to win. Thats not epic at all.

Speak for yourself. The AV and IoC games I enjoy most are ones that actually take a while to complete, win or loss. I don’t find 10 minute “battlegrounds” fun.

Neither do I but when all they add is more HP and resources the BG is still not epic just takes longer to finish a boring BG with little to no real rewards. Its just time played metric crap

oooooo idk, epic is seeing Ivus 3 times in a week:

https://imgur.com/a/LVH5rWH Almost 4 if we didn’t bug out due to Horde disruption. Making AVs longer allows for more kills, thus more looting bodies and turn-ins.

Epic would be starting with Ivus and having to protect him etc. Epic would be better rewards in the BG and not more RNG crap. Time played metric is bad for business and the millions of lost subs prooves me. 2/10 for ya bud.

Um no. Do all the things like you used to have to do, you know, kill. Turn in resources, defend the druids and hope your team has cleared mid of Horde, reap the reward.

This old line again.

This has nothing to do with AV right now. The ones I have been in have had way more excitement than the years of zerg AV we have seen
