Feedback: Delves in Season 2

It wouldn’t be challenging if he showed up when you’re idle and have all your CDs ready.

That being complicated for no good reason it like playing sports game against a person as good as you then in the middle of it they throw in another great player against you.

Looks Zek’vir is a foolish coward, who is scared about the idea of engaging you alone…

He just enjoys cosplaying a rogue.

Also, he’s the quintessential bully, shows up with a crowd of minions and runs away when things aren’t going his way.

So this means 24 including the bounty map? If each gilded chest gives 7?

Also, does anyone know if there are new minibosses for The Underpin in S2? I know the current ones are labeled Zekvir’s Heralds.

Yes, there are new mini-bosses in Season 2. They’re called Underpin’s Minions and will ambush the delve npcs as you approach them. Beating them levels up a new cache in the treasure room.

Ohhhh, interesting, can’t wait to see what challenges they’ll bring. I see they’re also adding an incentive to beating them instead of just avoiding them entirely.

Thank you.

They were good to mind control. Some better than others.

In t9-11, you get an additional runed crest at the end for every nemesis pack you beat. Currently on PTR, if you clear a t10 while defeating all the nemesis packs, you get 12 runed crests. That’s a lot more than 2.

Wow, that is way better than a measly sum of 2 Runed Crests, I was expecting Blizzard to give us 4-5 at best and call it a day but this is very nice… especially when the cap lifts.

Today, we have several Season 2 updates to Delves:

  • To make curio collecting a more longform and hopefully engaging experience, obtaining a curio upgrade will always advance a curio’s rank by 1 regardless of the completed Delves tier. It will no longer be possible to obtain a Rank 4 curio without having obtained its’ previous ranks in order. Players will still need to best higher Delve tiers to unlock higher curio ranks. To help balance this, curio upgrades can now also be obtained from a Delve’s Heavy Trunk, and using a Restored Coffer Key on a Bountiful Coffer guarantees a curio to drop.
  • Players will now be guaranteed to earn a Delver’s Bounty after completing enough Delves, however only one Delver’s Bounty can be earned per character per week.
  • Two new treasure chests have been added to delves.
    • The Underpin’s powerful underlings can be found inside tier 4 Delves and above. Defeating a group of these enemies will spawn a new chest, the Nemesis Strongbox, at the end of the Delve. Each subsequent underlings group slain will upgrade the chest by 1 rank. Its rewards depend on how many underling groups you’ve defeated (up to 4), with higher Delve tiers housing a larger number of underling groups.
    • A tier 11 bountiful Delve treasure room now contains a Gilded Stash that can be looted 3 times a week per-character, for 7 Gilded Crests. This should help give players a way to continue progressing their power beyond the limits that were setup during Season 1.
  • To smooth out item-level progression and grant more opportunities for players to gain power beyond the tier 8 Delve item level cap, we’ve made the following changes:
    • Item Levels
      • Tier 6 Bountiful Coffers will now reward Veteran 2/8 equipment.
      • Tier 8 and above Bountiful Coffers will now reward Champion 2/8 equipment.
      • A Tier 8 Great Vault slot will now reward Hero 1/6 equipment.
    • Crest Quantities:
      • The number of Crests earned from Tier 4 Delves and above has been increased.
      • Delve Tiers 9 and above now grant an increasing number of Runed Crests, up to 13 per tier 11 Delve completed if you fully upgrade the Nemesis Strongbox.
      • Delver’s Bounties now grant an increased number of Crests, up to 10 Gilded Crests for completing a tier 11 Delve.
  • We’re increasing Brann’s level cap from 60 to 80, and increasing leveling speed throughout earlier levels. Your Brann will retain his Season 1 level going into season 2.

For more changes being made to Brann and Delves, see the development notes here.

We look forward to your feedback!

Any plans on removing the chance of being critically hit in delves? A factor 2 on major attacks is too much of a gamble in higher tiers. And especially tanks who could deal with such spikes will never face these moments where a critical attack makes the difference between life or death?

It’s like they want us to do M+ again since S1 had the lowest participation rate of all time… Instead of a 3/6 hero item you now get a 1/6 from the vault

Continuing the discussion from Undermine(d) Development Notes:

Q: if you’re trying to balance accordingly within the Delve ecosystem, and its rewards as well, why are gilded crests still capped at 21 per week?

I get that 21 guaranteed is a lot better than hoping for X bounty maps at pure RNG luck, but there is still hesitation on your part to make Delves a true endgame pillar that can stand on its own, without relying on M+ or mythic raid to prop it up completely.

Agree with the above points and it really feels like this is squarely putting the top Delve rewards at the bottom of M+ rewards with both M+2 and Tier 8 rewarding the same levels of gear.

The message from this is clear: Delves aren’t endgame group content, they’re a gateway to better gear for your obligatory progression to Dungeons and Raids.

  1. never going in m+ or raids even with my guild ( which is great guild ) so delves are my end game.

  2. As delve progress it is possible that it will be a true end game.

With tier 11 now being a good source for runed crest this change is honestly irrelevant.

I mean not really, you still have to spend crest and flightstones to get the same upgrade track item from S1…its not TOOOOO big of a deal but still a nerf

The fact that we’ll have runed crests to spend makes it pretty irrelevant. A small nerf to balance out a giant buff is still a buff.

Its only a nerf if you are unlocking just 1 vault slot a week as 2x tier 11 is 26 runed so you’d be 4 shy of 3/6 hero

8x tier 11 delves overcaps runed crest at 104 minus 30 for upgrading to 3/6 still nets you 60 runed compared to just the 16 on live. This gives you enough runed to go 4/6 on both the vault and delvers bounty hero piece every week.
