I remember this happening before.
There was some buff to…wanna say IBF… before that only they could access.
And I just would not be shocked to see it happen again.
and its not fear mongering.
its logical design ifhero trees are supposed to be fairly unique.
if theyre not unique…what’s the point of them?
it’ll happen.
Yes, in Legion, where Blood and Unholy had a slightly stronger baseline IBF while Frost had… extra armor, Death Strike healing for 300% more during IBF, and Mirror Ball.
One of those has been praised as phenomenal design & class fantasy and it isn’t the stronger baseline IBF.
It is fear mongering because you’re comparing something that existed 7 (going on 8) years ago and never again and using that as your basis for “it’ll happen again!!!”.
There are more than enough past defensive passives that Deathbringer & Rider can have that can be equal to the ones presented in San, possibly even better.
I really like the idea of DnD moving toward the player
There’s a general issue with “guaranteed critical strike” talents: they reduce the effectiveness of the secondary stat. If you want to add effects like that then the guaranteed crit abilities need to scale additional damage off of the critical strike secondary stat like warlock’s chaos bolt.
Do you guys just hate Frost DKs or something? Seriously, please re-work that spec.
Thematic wise, not mechanic wise, right direction if not everything is set in stone. Could some things be more themed better of course. Very glad to see some creative stuff for this class….now for the love of god do not let whoever greatly dislikes DK on staff/players remove/sabotage/nerf new fun things into garbage.
DT giving guaranteed vamp strike which gives us 3% heal per strike? No way anyone else will let this stand….anytime we get any kind of defensive that don’t make us kill target it seems like people freak.
For dnd make something like desecration used to be and let a strike either place it or have a chance at putting dnd down. I think everyone has said no one wants to stand in dnd for buffs.
I play unholy and I like what this kinda seems like play sanlayn if you want more defense or pvp is your focus. yes there are dps things but I just get the “feel” that this being tied to tank spec it is more defensive then the other two trees.
Please keep the people who actually like the classes working on these things just don’t be afraid to change things or if need be listen to well thought out criticism. Please new awesome visuals with all of the new things as well.
All other dk problems are still here and waiting hoping you guys will listen.
P.s. don’t listen to kelliste they think their way is the only way that exists period. They don’t think we should enjoy looking at our characters while we play the game because our camera should not be zoomed in enough that we could even see any animations. No one likes the fun police jeez
If I understand correctly, Hero Talents should create the classic Warcraft themed atmosphere.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Sanlayn seems like just an extension of Blood, and nothing more. And, in this way, it doesn’t even make me interested in playing.
The problem is clear: DK’s design is confusing. I always understood that Blood was precisely DK San’layn, so it’s a bit redundant…
Maybe the best thing would be to Rework DK first…
I’m just writing in this thread to scream in to the void with all my fellow Death Knights from Acherus.
Please. Please update, rework, and change some fundamental things of this class. Standing in Death and Decay to do cleave feels awful. Unholy really needs to stop having to press six to seven buttons to get burst rolling.
And please - please, change Frost to not be an eternal battle of DW → Breath build vs. 2H Obliteration. It all just needs a new coat of paint very badly.
pls just rework dk before any of this comes tyvm
Stop pretending like you care, this feels like an abusive relationship.
you combine it with grip of the dead for area control, in bgs you can stop whole teams in their tracks and in arena you can use it to stop your target from pillar humping.
edit, come to think of it, if they just built grip of the dead into DnD/defile baseline, that would solve a lot of the issues with the spell, even in PVE its hard to drag trash out when they are slowed or even stuck in it.
Maybe rework Frost before adding some sh*t spell. The spec is trash, so is its damage. We have no utility, no damage, we don’t even have our cool voice anymore.
Blood-Soaked Ground - We’re moving in the wrong direction here. We need less of these “while standing in” mechanics, not more. I’d like to see DnD become a short radius, short duration “aura” point blank area effect that just follows the Death Knight around, that would be cool.
Vampiric Aura - This sounds cool mechanically, but I have a suggestion for this and auras in general. Make it so that the graphic/animation pulses and becomes visible periodically, I mean literally something that looks like the auras in Warcraft 3 but just a faint animation that shows under your feet every 30 seconds or so. This would not only just be cool for class flavor, but also serves the purpose of having a visual reminder of what aura you currently have active without having to check your line of buffs by the minimap.
The Blood is Life - Please, no. No more pets or guardians. The game is already visually cluttered enough as it is.
There is still an underlying pink elephant in the room, Unholy and Frost needs a rework and that rework will indirectly impact the hero talents so showing San’layn as one of the first sets is a horrible idea.
The more I think about this, the more I realize what a missed opportunity this was for Death and Decay to become a really fun ability.
What they should do is have choosing San’layn change the functionality of Death and Decay to where it follows the Death Knight around as they move. Think Vladimir from League of Legends using Sanguine Pool. What’s more San’layn than that? With DnD working this way, tweak the San’layn tree with that in mind, so that while DnD is active you’re proc’ing Essence of the Blood Queen, etc.
You could even make it so that the DnD graphic is slightly different depending on your base spec, like more green for Unholy and more red for Blood.
This would be very cool, I’m just sayin. The San’layn Death Knight should be a cross between the WC3 Death Knight and the WC3 Dread Lord… with San’layn leaning more Dreadlord and maybe Rider of the Apocalypse leaning more Death Knight. The whole idea is to bring these more specific class fantasies to life, after all, right?
The DK lore was neglected from Wrath to… now… really. We already really have the san’layn blood drinking aspect taken care of with Blood. In fact I would say Blood the spec is more towards what people think San’layn are than the actual San’layn. While they drink blood, BPC doesnt really do any blood stuff aside from sharing a health pool so Blizzard doesnt have much to go on with any of these hero talents and has to make things up on the spot.
Like… what do the San’layn actually do? There is only one Deathbringer which people think should be blood but its just really a title. Rider of the Apocalypse, we have the 4 horsemen but they are so different from each other they cant really use them… so this is kind of non-lore in the making.
Even if Shadowlands was canon (dont care who you are its not canon and many MANY people agree with this) there is nothing there that helped the DK lore to do anything with these Hero Talents.
I dont know what class fantasy they are trying to bring to life here for the DK that isnt already represented.
I do not understand the developer fascination with pets/guardians for traditionally non-pet classes. They did it on frost mage, boomkin, shadow priest, blood Dk, all monk specs, havoc DH, and DPS shamans.
and all the while having horrible pet/guardian pathing and AI.
Change Infliction of Sorrow to something else other than consuming our diseases. That will NOT feel good. I don’t think any of us want to be thinking “should I reapply my diseases or apply wounds?”
I do not understand players fascination with saying that DK isn’t a traditional pet/minion/guardian class when Army and Ghoul were baseline for all 3 specs for a decade.
Minions are a fundamental identity to DK.
Ok. Now do the other 9 specs I mentioned.
