Hello!
Does anyone know if I can achieve the title by watching the VOD on youtube? OR does it have to be live?
I really don’t want to wake up at 3 am Australian Time.

Usually, promotions like this are watching it live. You can check out the page about it to see what the requirements are.
edit: After watching some of the MDI earlier, it is required to watch it live.

its required live, and all events are at the same time, which is to say the middle of the night for Aussies…
All I can suggest is to put on the stream on your computer, mute it / turn off your monitor and go to bed, get title when you wake up and profit.

I left the stream open but it never “started”.
When I got up in the morning and turned the monitor on, it started the VOD. 
Tonight I will have to set an alarm, refresh the page so the stream starts, and go back to bed I guess.

A little disappointed myself… An actual avid MDI watcher, but because it starts at 2:30am I won’t get the title, even after watching the uploads later. ={
Set an alarm for this morning but I was so tired I apparently turned it off and rolled back over in my sleep.
You would want to post about this in General Discussion. The Devs don’t take feedback from the Customer Support forum and the SFAs here are not liaisons with them.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I set an alarm for 3 am. Refreshed the youtube page and went back to bed. I just got home from work and I have the achievement and title!
TLDR - It’s live viewing. No VODS.

This doesn’t work.
there is no reason why it shouldn’t, you have to make sure your YouTube account is properly linked though, and keep in mind Youtube doesn’t let you link “brand accounts” it has to be a personal account.
