It’s a shame that Blizzard pretty much allowed DD’s (and other realms as well) vibrant community be destroyed or die off.
It’s amazing on how much the players can work with so little.
But eventually that runs out and Blizzard just seems to want to ignore the problem and rake in the $$ from transfers, instead of acting now to do stuff.
This thread made me want to roll a Horde alt, but seeing as I main Grob I’m not sure I’d have enough time to get into the community (if there even would be one by the time I hit 70). Sounds like a cool realm, I played on a low Horde pop realm in original TBC and it was fun to know people.
Do check it out. If you want some chill leveling DD is the best. No one to bother you. If you ever get bored while leveling, join LFG during prime time. Its basically Barrens chat here.
I play Horde DD (and Alliance Grob). Horde DD still has a good community. The RP-PvP community works well together. LFG channel keeps the community tight knit.
Definitely, the population numbers are sagging but I am keeping my Horde toons there. Connecting to Grob would be ideal but Blizzard doesn’t seem like they will be doing anything like that.
It makes sense that they didn’t link them to any other servers. There are no other RP-PvP servers in either of those clusters. They tend to link like types together, but Grob and DD are in separate clusters from one another. I don’t think it has anything to do w/ “lack of care”, but more to do w/ the fact that RP-PvPers traditionally don’t WANT to be linked to regular PvE, RP, or PvP servers. I don’t.
I guess it’s not unheard of to link an east and west coast server together, though. I can’t recall if they have done this in the past.
I do know that I was a Ravenholdt native during original TBC era and after WoW’s sub numbers began dying off, it took them forever to link RH to any other server for similar reasons.
It’s a shame, because DD really does have a pretty great community, but because of the way they handled the launch WAYYYY back in classic, it was more or less doomed from the start.
The only thing that can save it are transfers, which mean that “great community” will likely be drastically changed anyway.
