Favorite place/zone in the game?

whew…i could stand legion, but yeah…four worst expansions in the game all in a dogpile…lol

Gorgrond is amazing, the maw is awesome, Legion sucked, and boralus is amazing.

Duskwood. Always Duskwood.

Regardless how well each expansion does

The music and environment teams always excel.

Timeless Isle in Pandaria which is in an eternal sunset.

But, its a hassle to get there and not have any services. So Boralus is my go to Capital City.

Being in an alternate dimension and timeline was not good. The only reason WoD isn’t the worst expansion is because Shadowlands came out. I’m still shocked and appalled they managed to one up WoD.

WoD zones and raids were good. I’ll die on that hill

Grizzly Hills, Eredath, Azure Span, Talador, and Bastion. Five of my favorites in no particular order.

One of my absolute favorite places is the Peak of Serenity, the original Monk hub. I’m also quite fond of Dalaran; more so for its concept than the city itself.

This is hard because there are so many amazing zones over the years. Here’s my top three.

  1. Nazmir
  2. Maldraxxus
  3. Blades Edge Mountains

Honestly, the Night Elf and Dwarf starting zones. They were so thematic and the music was perfect for both. They really showcased racial fantasy. Once out the gate, though, the game loses that fantasy quickly.

Feralas, Stranglethorne and shimmering flats were really cool imo :revolving_hearts:

My favorite zone up to cata was barrens.

I have so many memories that I use sometimes the Barrens music to relax after lunch just enjoying the feeling and the memories.

Cata destroyed it until classic.

Then I went on searching a good zone with the same combination of factor, but I would never find. Cata ended the zones that had good content, emergent gameplay and at the same time were not in the way of the tl;dr yolo demented player who doesnt care about other people playing the game. Specially playing Horde.

It took a LONG time to find a good zone to just be around and enjoy. Voldun after the tish storm that is launch was that zone. The music, the story, the events.

Shadowlands came and nothing else got any love, but the SL zones were all garbage, so I went on to stop playing until DF. After a little while playing I was made stop by the tishstorm that was the game being made into. And decided to uninstall everything.

Now I have gotten my experience with the Barrens and made into some of the games I worked in the Studio, and some of the mods I helped create. And now I play those games.

Most definitely Winterspring.

Firstly, in DF I like this particular spot in Azure Span:

Also, I absolutely love :purple_heart: the crystaline trees in Crystalsong (at 43.65, 62.30):

Others:
Best place for enjoying snacks and wiggling toes: Stranglethorn Vale: The Vile Reef :paw_prints:

Most dangerous bobsled track: Stormsong Valley: Fernwood Ridge, Pengling Slope :sled:
| 400x225

Best spot for bare-knuckle street fighting: Stormwind: Pig & Whistle Tavern :fist_right: :fist_left:

STV freaked me out. I was way too low level and a friend ran with me from SW to Booty Bay so we could get the boat. Such beautiful scenery too. A 17 year old memory.

Ungoro Crater was so dangerous. Mobs literally everywhere and many of them elite. Animal or vegetable, it just wanted to eat you.

Pre-Cata Redridge Mountains and Darkshore for me. I’ll never forget getting jumped by those 3 orcs hiding behind that tree along the road leading north from Lakeshire. Or wandering down the lonely road west out of Darkshire and seeing Stitches approaching. “What is that???”

I, too, am a fan of Deepholm and Thunder Bluff. (It would be beyond fantastic if TB ever got such an upgrade.) I also love to marvel at the views within the Caverns of Time.

Elwynn Forest. It fills me with nostalgia every time.

The second one is Borean Tundra. It’s a bit boring, but it again fills me with nostalgia of when I started playing Wrath retail, after several years of private TBC servers at the time.

Every level 10-12 Night Elf in Vanilla going to Ironforge for the first time can empathize.
