Exactly. What does it matter if your cloak isn’t max level, since you aren’t going to tackle content that requires that much corruption anyways?
Not a catch up. Just a different grind. Too little, too late for alts or casuals.
No I meant (which you know I meant this) what does it matter if ppl can catch up faster! Maybe to squeeze some fun out of a content drought. Sounds good to me…Sounds like more money to Blizzard.
My alt is doing raid runs heroic now, but my DPS is suffering at 35k because of lck of corruptions/grind. It’s ridiculous.
Yes!!! My last alt to “catch up” I am finally doing…my dh. Went from cloak lvl 8 to 13 in a single day. Ran 7 visions to get that done, plus I was masking the last 2 runs! ty bliz!
You’re still so prideful missing the entire POINT of a CATCH UP mechanic. It’s honestly quite silly of people like you to be so mad when it doesn’t even effect you since you’re caught up on everything. Stop being so stubborn and mad. It’s a bad system, an even worse catch up mechanic, and to top it all off it gets worse because people like you defend it with a stupid argument of “we all did the work, you can too.” People aren’t against the work. A catch up mechanic is something that makes it so much easier. There’s nothing, I mean absolutely nothing that makes this easier unless you have the time to farm mythic+, arenas, or some other stuff, which if you do, this literally doesn’t apply to you at that point since you’re already caught up.
It applies to alts, to people who don’t have alts caught up, or new players and you’re bottle necking them because " we put in the time from the start, so should you." Get over yourself, you and that pride of yours. It’s like every mythic raider who thinks mythic raiding content is the hardest, when clearly the hardest content is mythic+ seeing as how the raids get beat 100 times faster than any 25+ keystone and more guilds clear mythic raiding than groups clear keystone levels of 25+. It’s not the hardest content, it’s the second hardest now, which means the best rewards for the hardest content would go to mythic+, not raiding.
I digress, though, as that’s an entirely different beast and off topic. If your stuff is caught up, then stop defending a bad system.
Yeah. They should add this as an option at the very least. I can’t afford to spend Echoes until they cycle at least one more time.
I’s have no problem with a single 5 mask vision run giving one malefic core. What this prior guy was proposing though was that every mask you do on a run give a core, or 5 cores per run, which is so overboard it’s ridiculous. One core per greater vision would still be time-gated somewhat by the rate you can accumulate lesser visions. My real objection is to people who just literally want to put no effort at all into their characters. What is the point of creating a character if you just expect to be given gear for it as soon as its max level? It’s more the mentality that offends me than anything. If you want to play that type of game, there are a multitude of them out there.Personally, I like the effort that wow requires of people, it takes a certain level of commitment to drive a character to a higher level.
Yes. That is just stupid. I agree. The only issue I have right now, having come late to the BfA party, is that the only option is Echoes. Right now, I can’t afford to spare any Echoes or I could be stuck with an upgrade I can’t use until my corruption cycles around again.
I can’t believe their intention was making people sit on upgrades for weeks before they could use them.
In any case, I find myself trying to buy two of all of my corruptions just so I know I will be able to use drops I obtain. This is doubly difficult since I’m starting to get back into PVP again, and I need different corruptions for my PVP set.
I can’t imagine how bad it is for people running multiple specs. There is some serious sacrifice for people filling more than a single role.
Yes, on my druid I am getting corruption for all specs, guardian first. Versatility stacking, then mastery and TD stacking, then going on to feral or resto and getting either crit or haste stacking, if shadowlands isnt even out yet. Gearing up 4 specs sucks. Gearing up multiple toons sucks, too, but I enjoy the versatility stacking for raids. TD is cool, but that random snap threat is so dumb and unpredictable, can get you killed. We’ve had tanks where they stacked TD and kept pulling threat off one another so often during such bad times they ended up dying cause their mechanic couldnt /didnt reset.
Anywho, though, it really is dumb how blizz thought “lets make it take the currency that everyone is already using and spending on corruptions and make it cost that!”
Artifact Quest Chains were:
- Fast Scenarios. They typically take about 10 minutes to do, even fresh.
- Short Questlines. The longest artifact questlines that lead up to the scenario are roughly 10 minutes long, and most of that is just traveling places. The legendary clock is about 12 to 15 steps, includes two mandatory assaults that you probably aren’t geared for (making take even longer). Even with the two skippable scenarios, there are still two scenarios you have to do (both involving the lesser visions and the Blackwing Descent one), so overall the
- Rewarding. Assuming you’re playing a new alt, every artifact questline you complete gives you a new weapon appearance, and even the basic artifact weapons look great. In Legion, getting the artifact weapon immediately gave you a new ability (it is definitely less exciting in Live).
By contrast, the Legendary Cloak Questline is:
- Slow Scenarios. There are four scenarios in the Legendary Cloak questline (five if you include the one in Uldum that you have to go insane during) and each takes anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes.
- Lengthy Questlines. The questlines take a long time, feature a lot of dialogue from NPCs that you can’t skip over, and (most importantly) require that the player complete two N’Zoth assaults. If you’re a new player trying to get the cloak for an item level boost, you’re probably not well-geared for these meaning that the normally 30 minute assault can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours depending on your luck with other players being around.
- Unrewarding. Getting the Legendary Cloak is the start of a grind; it doesn’t inherently increase your power beyond its stats and the one piece of Void Ritual gear you’re guaranteed to get during the quest (which is a passive, rather than a fun activated ability you have control over). The Legendary cloak is, when you first get it, horrifically ugly; it’s basically a gray, scaled rag.
So yeah! There’s a lot of good reasons why this quest doesn’t feel great.
Well said. Great details
I just made 10th 120. Rather spend my time on new alt than absurd cloak grind.
I’ll probably flood their database with many 100K+ CV toons
Thank you!
And to be fair, unless you plan on taking them through Nya’lotha, ther eis no reason to even GET the cloak, aside from a nice iLevel when you go in to the Shadowlands.
Being able to purchase cores is helpful in catching up but the bottle neck for trying to catch up on alts leveling the cloak is still the insane amount of corrupted mementos required for research at the titan panel. Once your main has the mount, backpack and gem slots, these are just wasted allow us to either send them to alts or perhaps purchase a crate of 1000 for like 1250 that we can send to our alts
I’d be happy if there was a ‘switch’ of some sort to turn off the corrupted gear drops. I have absolutely no interest in trying to level that cloak or do the visions, etc… but damned if I don’t get a ridiculous amount of gear I have to trash because it rolled corrupted.
Or at least, not start to be connected until you see Anduin meet with Wrathion. Nothing like trying to get up to 410 or 420 to tackle all that crap with and not being able to use it without being chased by eyes and ghosts.
Meanwhile casual players like me cant even kill the first pack in the questline vision. Guess I need to quit my job and put my kid up for adoption so I can gear up to have fun and participate in th game I pay for every month.
I am no raider or Mythic runner, but I have noticed that you can get gear up to 420 through World Quests and the Emmisasaries can get you even higher. I just replaced a Brewmaster’s 420 polearm for a 445 because of Talanji’s Expedition Emmisary. The only raids this Monk has been on is soloing the Pandaria and Draenor for transmog and trying to complete the Artifact upgrade quest (19/20 Nightshards after two weeks!), and only my Zandalari Druid has seen any Mythic Dungeons.
Trust me when I say, that you can handle a Vision pack at 400, just have to learn who to kill first, sometimes.
