Where? You get to spam buy cores until you reach the cap which is how it has always been worded even with the very first post stating “up until you reach the amount you could have gotten previously from other sources”. Was it worded poorly? Sure, whatever, but they also couldn’t just say “until 92” since that number is meaningless next week.
If the cores, much like the essences are not BOA, then the system is still not so great. Its annoying that I have like 25k Nyoltha essences collecting dust on my main that I can’t give to my alt. All this does is make me need to choose between essences for my neck, and cloak upgrades on my alt now.
In past expansions most upgrade mechanics were BOA. They are not in this expansion. Gotta milk those /played metrics. I appreciate the additional options, but this is far from ideal.
They did change the cap… An hour or so ago. You can buy 14 malefic cores in one day if you have the echoes for it (up to 92 this week, 95 next week). It’s a good update by Blizzard, y’all need to stop complaining.
Things like this get me excited for Shadowlands.
I strongly believe the Blizzard we had for 6.0- 8.2 would not have done this.
I just hope you make these changes quicker.
I won’t say thanks, because its way too late, but I appreciate what this hopefully resembles internally of the dev team.
They listened to the accounting department that was telling them how many people were leaving the game. For most this is too late.
They need to think about the players. Yes, it’s better than nothing, but stop settling for 0.5 of a change. Stop being so quick to accept things when they need to be better with thinking about them. It’s not that people aren’t ungrateful, it’s that if blizzard, as a company, thinks more about things from a player perspective then it would be far better off. We literally brainstormed earlier in the post, a BETTER version of the system that gives players 100% better results.
Also, a turtle moving at a snail’s pace is better than not at all, but, it’s still a turtle at a snail’s pace. Sorry bro, but, things need to be done faster than 90% through the expansion or 99% through the expansion.

Missed the mark completely guys. This only helps the people who are rank 15+. At least make it so the item will also upgrade the cloak from lets say rank 1 to 2. That way everyone is happy. I had my alt at rank 1 for weeks with thousands of echoes. Imagine if instead of grinding visions with the chance of failing… I could just pay 2,000 echoes for a rank upgrade. It’s a win/win situation for everyone. Once you’re rank 15 the item instead increases the resistance by 3.
Did nobody think of this at the board meeting? Seriously tell whoever made this decision that while they were on the right path, they need to think outside the box. This entire decision just shows that management is operating like a horse with blinders on.
I hope you guys get it together, or hire me and I promise you’ll see growth like never before. The ideas here are endless.

Removing vessels and the core cap would have been a much better option. Really hope we don’t see this limited attempt key crap on Torghast. It’s awful design and always will be.
We already needed tens of thousands of echoes just for a single corruption set. Personally I think your slow as hell farming design is trash and you should have instead targeted a rate that would let us get multiple sets per character in a reasonable amount of time to actually explore and enjoy the corruption system, but here we still are. Buying cores early would potentially make you miss out on a corruption rotation, though at the current rate of echo farm, nobody will even put a corruption on a lower ilvl piece, so we save them up, save corruptions in our bank until we someday have higher ilvl gear with the right secondary stats to put it on. That means we’ll just wait until we have the corruptions + gear first before bothering to buy more cores. Better than waiting months to get the resistance of course, but still an overall very slow grind.
This would only have made sense if that power was limited to the raid, but the resistance and corruption affects everything beyond side games like pet battles.
The corruption rotation is still inexcusably awful and pointless and should still be removed.
Also sucks that rated arena wins are seemingly still the most efficient non-weekly activity for farming echoes.

His comment is certainly hyperbolic - but I do think there are enough competing uses for echoes already.
They should have just made visions continue to reward cores up until the catch up.
This way they are more reliant on coalescing vision currency (and playing) more so than just more dailies and sacrificing echoes (which you are already saving for essences and/or corruptions themselves).
Yeah, alternatively they could have made the cores drop irregardless of cloak level (still requiring level 15 to use). This way while you grind up the cloak, you are innately catching up the resistance too.

Nice change but… would love them to just let us buy ranks from 1-15 at this point. A lot of my alts (including this one) stalled on the multiple runs required and I never had the will to do any more Visions so have largely abandoned the cloak mechanic on everything bar my DK main.

You can still only get 2 free per week… but you can buy any number up to the current maximum…

How about just let me go straight to PvP instead of grinding outside systems before I can have fun in it?
Legion had tons of secondary systems but at least I could get Artifact Power, Legendary Items and Relics through PvP.
By the time I’m done with the weekly, thinking I gotta run visions before I can even queue and not be a drag for my team, I’m just done and turn off the game.
No amount of bandaids address the problem.
Let alone you gotta get rank 3 essences. And don’t come here telling me how easy it is, that’s not the point: this game has band-aided flawed systems.

The only thing that requires you to do outside pvp stuff… is the getting cloak to 15 part… and there have ALWAYS been plot-centric questlines for legendaries etc… like the ring in cloak and the cloak in wod etc…
After you get 15… because of this exact forum you are on… you can just run arenas or bgs forever… and get the corruptions and the corruption resistance you want… They basically gave you exactly what youare asking for and you’re still whining.
Learn to take yes for an answer.

My only complaint is how overloaded Echoes are getting.
But more than that, can we please have the corruption effects not rotate. They should all be available so I can spend my overloaded currency when and how I most need.

What a TERRIBLE solution, as alts already need to tens of thousands of Echoes for their rank 3 essences and corruptions.
Malefic Cores should be purchasable for 10k Coalescing Visions each instead!

For my characters that already bought some corruptions and banked them waiting for the right gear to put them on, this will speed things up for them, but for my alts that don’t have a 15 cape already and haven’t been doing visions for months at this point or even started the gearing process at all yet, nothing about this change would make me want to start catching up a new alt.

so this seems great… for people who are already caught up? trying to get alts up to par and im spending echoes on essences, then corruptions, and now cores? like great tbat they can theoretically be caught up but in practice this will still be suuuuper slow
