Faster Cloak Ranking and More Echoes of Ny'Alotha are now Live

Did a +7 30 minutes ago and only got 21 echoes. Is it not working for M+?

I wish they would do something to make the original grind seem more an achievment. Such as no cosmetic access and going forward people leveling their capes on this easier path should have it downgraded to a purple color via a forked quest path.

Thank you for communicating this, and I get the feeling you didn’t have as much lead time to tell us as you’d like.

But you should let the others know that telling people the night before a change like this is not good enough. And the original post should have specified that only part of the update was coming (and that it was for sure tomorrow, which you had to have known).

have you done the cloak questline?

you know what? I didn’t put the effort in earlier and would have missed out then but can agree with this. No reason my lack of effort should undercut your achievements.

Yeah, did the M+ on a different character.

I am definitely concerned that WoW is trending more and more towards “get the hardworkers to spin on it for a while, then nerf it for the rest of 'em”

It’s like starting the price of goods super high to get those with the disposable cash, and then putting it on sale to get more buyers.

The entire draw of an MMO, for me, is that it’s supposed to be persistent and we are supposed to feel our accomplishments last. When everything is temporary and frankly feels gamed to waste our time before nerfing it further, it really wears down the faith in this game to me.

They threw that out the window the moment they introduced multiple difficulties in content.

Still no cutting down on the garbage intro quest that takes way, way, way too long?

No?

Still not interested.

I am sure that all of these decisions have one common factor. Maintain playtime. However they are all lazy, quick, and cheap fixes that took little effort to execute on their end. And without the consideration of whether these changes be fun or entertaining. I’m sure its also very carefully reviewed and they are aware they are doing this with cost impact being the prime factor.

I do like they are adding help to get the right corruption. And I must say that I really do appreciate all the hard efforts to add fun visuals this expansion. I will miss some of them greatly when they go away.

Woo! Time to maybe get my cloak.

This whole debacle could’ve been avoided had they just given those who unlocked their essences a lump sum echoes reward. Like 15k or something.

You say that like it’s a new thing. Raids have been nerfed over the course of each tier, for the sake of greater accessibility, since literally Icecrown Citadel. They’ve regularly nerfed grinds after a number of months since then as well. Legion legendaries followed the exact same trajectory, with them initially fairly rare, then they bumped the drop chance (especially for your first two), then they introduced a vendor for just straight up purchasing them. Artifact Knowledge was a built in system for nerfing the effort required to get to any given artifact level over time, and BfA has had a similar system the entire expansion.

This isn’t new. It’s standard policy for Blizzard to make things difficult at first, then ease them over time. Your reward for getting it early, when it’s tougher to get, is getting it earlier, and thus benefiting from it earlier and longer.

I realize it’s not new, but it’s become more and more regular across casual content, and even achievement-related content which is absurd.

The first time I ever really felt cheated is when they removed requirements from [The Insane] instead of simply making it a FoS. It’s been downhill ever since.

Ya, this is my beef. It’s very clear that Blizzard’s MO these days is “maximize return, minimize investment”. BfA had a fraction of the development effort put on classes as Legion did, despite considerable need (and they literally ran out of time on what changes they were making, despite those changes only being a fraction of Legion’s). Their ethos for Shadowlands is “we’re not doing anything major on class design”. Ya, they make a big show about it being about class identity rather than spec identity, and they don’t want to disrupt people’s notion of their class, but really what they are saying is “we’re trying to see just how few development man-hours we can put into this expansion and still get a reasonable return”.

so anyone complaining about not having any echos needs to realize everyone had to work for their echos they have rite now. so resetting at 0 would be messed up in that sense as well. so that’s not the solution either

I did the same amount of content people with 30k-40k echoes have done… The vendor comes out in a day or two based on the last update. So, They can relax and slowly farm. While I have to no life farm to catch up.

They also put the vendor on a weekly rotation… I’m just done with this patch and this game at this point.

I agree,it would’ve made sense since it would be there for an alt to chose to place in their HOA when they reach that point.

Currently M+ is bugged and is dropping the same as it used to.

Just did a +14 and got 42. Which is what it was dropping pre patch.

I thought I had ton of echos banked up, since I’ve played this character exclusively since patch and only needed one essence at rank 3. Turns out I only had about 12k saved up, not even enough for the most expensive corruption. The people touting 30 to 40k I’m not sure how. I literally cleared heroic raid, raided mythic, and spammed +15 M+ and higher since the week it was introduced as well as done all the assaults. Unless the 50 echos from emissary are worth that much, I dont see how it’s possible.

Not to mention, anyone who was already geared up like I was, was not farming for echos because there was no reason.

I think people are blowing this out of proportion because this is the wow forums and that’s just what we do here
