You understand the echoes only dropped if you had a rank 3 unlocked and not yet purchased, right? Multi-role classes had this almost by default, simply because unlocking any one essence from a source unlocked the other role essences from that same source for purchase from MOTHER, but pure DPS didn’t have that luxury. Unless they had a rank 3 source that another character on their account had earned but their main had not, they were never eligible to earn Echoes.
Basically, this is Blizzard shooting themselves in the foot - again - because of poor planning. They made Echoes not drop if you had no essences to buy with them, because they didn’t want peeps complaining about earning a currency they couldn’t do anything with. Then they decided to leverage that same currency for this new corruption purchase system, but because of their earlier choice, mains are punished much more severely than alts. I got a bit lucky, since I’d earned a number of R3s on my DH before main-swapping to my rogue, but not everyone was so fortunate.
You clearly have no understanding as to how the echoes system initially worked. Characters were only eligible to collect echoes if they were missing a rank 3 essence they had collected on a different character. If you played a pure DPS class or already had all of your rank 3 essences going into 8.3, then you never had to opportunity to collect echoes in the first place.
Since when does not posting mean not reading? You have no clue what peoples actual schedule’s are.
I posted yesterday. I read the forums daily. I have a normal schedule (sort of, mostly). ~17 hours notice is not enough for a change like this. Especially when the notice received said “in the coming week”.
Playing since TBC, first time feeling the need to post here. (And these forums are… yeah, I will leave that for later).
Me and my wife play together, exclusively (hell she plays more than I do), LFR here and there, PUGs here and there, dailies, visions etc. Why in the hell, when she plays more than me and plays her Main the way it should be was she punished for having all the essences and comes into today with 0. I am sitting on 6k+ (I am sure others are far more). She should be well into 10k, having ground our rank 15s prior today and all the other crap we do.
But, because she plays her main right, you know, as a main; she comes into today with 0 Echoes? While i’m lazy and didn’t bother with an essence at rank 3, I am rewarded? That is trash, completely.
And yes, info has been out there that I found after some reading, but I don’t have the time to stay on top of every little piece of info, but if this was in the works to add Echoes as a way to get corruption onto gear: A WAY TO GET IT TO ALL should have been in the plans. It’s ridiculous that it wasn’t.
Suck it up, give Echoes to the players who WOULD have earned em retro. Cuz its too late for a new currency. HotFix this crap or put it in next week; its all in your logs for each character anyhow.
You misread the Wowhead article. It’s 1750 for an entire week of Emissary turn-ins. Emissaries awarded 50 Echoes previously, so 250 is the correct amount.
Edit: If it were 1750 per emissary, that’d be almost 9k per week. That’d be literally a R3 TD every 2 weeks, just from Emissaries.
Hey Blizzard,
Enough of this malicious compliance from you in regards to player feedback, how about some actual contrition?
The rotating corruption vendor is your way of saying ‘sure, let’s remove the RNG but keep the time gate’. Definitely not like you couldn’t have put it all up at once, but always have to make sure you get yours in first, eh?
Another gentle reminder to play the game the way you say?
You didn’t even have the vendor ready this week but just had to launch this change already?
No, I’d have preferred they made essences account wide as was widely requested in numerous forum threads.
I’d have preferred they consider the option of putting fun as a priority in the game at the end of an expac.
Instead, we have them monkey-pawing player requests so their investor metrics are always covered first and foremost.
Enjoy your time with Blizzard, I’m sure you’re fine with how they respond to you.
I don’t think Blizzard has actually had honest contrition for mistakes since they were effectively forced into backpedaling on their no-flying-ever decision back in WoD. Ever since then, it has felt like near on every change has either been completely contrary to player feedback, was made specifically to annoy players, or was made in the direction of player feedback but corrupted just enough to piss people off and negate the point of the feedback, to avoid fixing the actual pain point people were expressing.
Oh, you want it to be easier to swap specs? Ok, we’ll allow you to respec Azerite, but the cost will increase exponentially over time. We’ll add spec-agnostic traits that you can take to work with all specs, but most of them will be utter garbage, and half of them will just be generic DPS traits anyway. Oh, and we’re going to add a new row that only has spec-specific traits, so sucks to be you.
Oh, you want account wide essences? Ok, but you have to go mindlessly spam our 8.3 content in order to get them.
Oh, you want targetable corruption? Ok, but it’ll use a currency your mains haven’t actually been able to earn, and it’ll be an unpredictable selection of corruptions each half week, so it’ll still take a while. Oh, also, corrupted items cannot be re-corrupted, so all of those guaranteed sources of corrupted items are now a penalty.
