From my experience since having these fast ques people tend to give up faster so they can move on to the next BG.
An example: AB - Horde VS Horde
We did not get BS at the start, a few spoke out and said to just let them 5 cap for max hph then went AFK or did not help fight for the flags, they simply ran around the map or swam in the river. Not participating.
Another example: EoTS Horde Vs Alliance
Both teams got their 2 towers and Alliance got the flag right at the start. Alliance rushed and got another tower and within 2 min, people died and respawned on rock and sat there complaining that the team sucked and to just “let them win” again, not participating to fight back and rally from behind. We were down 30 points by this time.
I report people that speak up and tell others to forfeit as well as sitting AFK and not participating.
I hope Blizzard sees these reports and bans these toxic people.
I also would request that you all report these types of people/behavior so that we can clean up our PVP community and go back to enjoying the BGs as FUN.
Thank you for reading.

You’re right, you should have to book your bg no less than 72 hours in advance, this way we ensure people are motivated to win, high stakes and all that

Welcome to Alliance-style BGs.
If victory seems unobtainable within the first couple minutes, people generally give up.
It doesn’t help that the game disincentivizes long drawn-out BGs because ppl need those marks to purchase gear. Better to just take a short loss and get a mark than have a long drawn out struggle which you lose anyway. Sad but true.

This is probably a factor in alliance BG results before this change but what can you do.
Instant queues has so many other positives that this is a natural downside.
Horde waiting 30 min while alliance had instant was partially responsible for the one sided results.
Now everyone deals with that.

I started an AB today… Score was 180 - 180, and we lost a battle at one of the nodes. Someone says “are we st the point to where we just chill at ST, then?”

Yeah; I only really go into “HK mode” when it’s clear there’s no comeback possibility (typically a 500 point differential when it’s midgame so like 1250-750).
But the main thing is whether you’re losing because of losing fights or bad positioning.
Had a EOTS where we were down 600 in first 3rd of the game but were getting way more HKs in fights.
Problem was we spotted other horde team 3 towers for a couple minutes while everyone fought middle.
I convinced enough people to focus on towers and we reversed the result.
But it comes down to group comp (i.e. does one side have way more healers) and whether a team can win fights.
Easy to tell whether the game is Hopeless or not.
EOTS is a lot easier to come back in than AB.
Counter example: every BG I’ve played has been titillating and engaging, with each team fighting to the last.
All players supported each other and were friendly and courteous when giving direction.
Seems like you’re the problem. Everything is fine here.

lol. honor per hour was the name of the game back then also. Only the newbs fought on the road for HKs and dragged it out.
Oh no, people are playing in a way you don’t like? Better ban them.
You’re the toxic people, not the ones that don’t want to waste half an hour on an obvious loss.

There really is a defeatist culture in WoW battlegrounds. I’ve come to the conclusion the first clashes are almost what decide the entire game, because if even one person gives up, it’s going to be a huge effort to overcome an already not ideal start. I agree that there’s no point to intentionally drag a losing game out, but way too many people are deciding that the game is lost in the first 2 minutes. Probably a symptom of our low attention span modern world.

I’d argue that those games are over before that. Basically at matchmaking. The people asking to just lose quickly in those BGs had no intention of really trying to win to begin with. They’re looking for any reason to afk and get honor without being reported. If you did end up winning those games I would bet those same people would be the ones afking at some node.
I just report all of them and hit up everyone in BG chat to do the same.
Actually it goes against the ToS if you AFK or do not participate in a BG. This can result in a Ban.
seems to me like you just outted yourself as being one of those people. Hope you get your ban

It’s always been about the queue times with the give up mentality. It never was a horde and alliance thing.
I’ve had people tell me on here that HvH is good because horde fight harder. Here is more proof that the players themselves are the same.
It will get worse by the way the longer the horde instant queues go on.
This is great for the “BGs are casual so I just kill stuff and not try” types. It sucks for people who want to play properly… and can’t even premade anymore.
Report all AFKs for cheating, give them an 8 day vacation.

Careful what you ask for Horde, you just might get it.

Im asking for no AFKers or non participation players during BGs, is that too much to ask for?
Seriously, if you don’t have the time to play a BG then don’t que for 1.
Blizz will roll out more bans regarding this - as they should, and this will detour others from doing this going forward.
You miss my point. Long BG queues weed out all the AFKers and quitters, leaving only players who are determined to win. You Horde have no idea just how good you had it, and now you are getting what Alliance have had to deal with for years.

I report these toxic AFKers as well, karma(Blizz) will catch up to them!
Im sure not everything is fine over there but keep drinking that sauce.
Some games there are no AFKers, other times there are. Blizz just needs to lay down the BG AFK ban hammer again.
If you want to wait then just wait 30m before you hit the button. The rest of us don’t want to.
People should have to play the way I want!
I don’t know what’s more sad people who feel entitled to making others play like sweat drenched try hards or the min max farmers whos only metric is honor per hour. In either case you should care about neither of them and do whatever you want its just a game.
