Actually that appears to be YOUR position since you feel the mob has to silence players because Blizz won’t do so in a timely enough fashion to deter poor behavior in chat channels…

Actually one of the claims being made by people opposed to auto squelch is that blizzard takes too long to resolve unfair squelchs. If they take to long to resolve unfair auto squelchs then it only stands to reason they’ll also take too long to respond to legitimate issues with chat reports.

A position that was proven true in the past.

Are you saying that it is perfectly OK for a player to suffer a player imposed punishment, even if they broke no rules, for what you feel is interminably long time if that player imposed punishment was not tied to the right click report?

Wanting people to not troll in public chat is not toxic, IMO. That is why I support the right click system with the auto squelch removed and still tied to the temp ignore. That is why I encourage players to report anyone they feel is violating the TOS.

IMO, wanting to the power to collude with other players to impose punishment and silence any other player for any little slight you felt you had to suffer is toxic, though. That is why I oppose the right click report being tied to an auto squelch or any form of player driven punishment.

Idk how many times this has to be said. Obviously a majority of these players do deserve it. Buts that’s not the issue. The issue is a lot don’t, so it shouldn’t exist. I would rather someone get away with being a prick and just gets mass muted than having a guy get muted for not doing anything.

ALMOST NO ONE has said that reporting toxic behavior is bad.

ALMOST NO ONE has said that trolls should not be banned.

However ALMOST EVERYONE is opposed to un-just bans, silences, squelches, disciplinary action in any way shape or form.

If you have a system that can indeed allow for un-just action to take place even if it’s temporary; then it’s a very bad system.

What we are promoting is that YOU THE PLAYER has not executive authority over other players even by vote. Instead we are saying that ONLY the game GM’s should have the power to exact final justice in that way.

We’re not saying Click to report should be disabled.

Instead we’re saying that the ability to click to report should NEVER result in player actionable sanctions.

There were back then a very large community of people who openly mocked him and I assume got banned.

I agreed with much of what they were saying, I just did not post much back then because the state of the development was outside of my area of practice and deferred to the salesmen who sold Blizzard their own game.

In case you’re wondering about his history, go to the old forum and look him up. He was posting up the old “wall of no” a propaganda component that was popular among people who were very opposed to Classic.

If you can come up with a better system please do, there have been suggestions. However simply going back to, let everyone troll public chat channels with no consequences is a worse situation than what we have now.

I’ve never even cared about the trade chat trolls. I think someone mentioned that the auto-squelch was probably implemented with the intention of squelching gold/boost selling characters in a timely fashion.

Gold selling spam will probably be a huge issue without a squelch system.
