False reporting and automated ban

I didn’t say anything that was out of line. I just asked you to not do it, again. Please and thank you.

I’d just like to go back to the topic, at hand. I just wanted to, civilly, address you.

Someone who sees all those other players in an MMO as nothing but obstacles in their way is concerned about “blacklists”. Go figure.

Opposes blacklists, but insists upon having the option to conspire to squelch any other player at any time for every little slight they think they had to suffer.

Does not compute.

If they are “naming and shaming” in game, then by all means report them and let Blizzard take whatever action they deem appropriate.

If that “naming and shaming”/“blacklist” is done/maintained on a third party website over which Blizzard has no control, then that is another matter entirely. In reality, what can Blizzard actually do if they have no control over that website?

I’ll give you the same advice that those who oppose the player imposed punishment have been given.

Behave in a respectful, responsible manner, don’t be a jerk and you won’t have to worry about those blacklists, right?

You ever consider that it’s not a conspiracy that people don’t want to play with you? Maybe you’re just annoying. Ever think about that?

Do you have anything other than a SIX YEAR old statement regarding a different game to back up your claim?

Did a Blizzard official post that the auto squelch is being discussed internally with regards to Classic?

We don’t know yet what they will do with the player imposed punishment.

By all means, there’s an “Ignore List”, option, for you to use. The Silence is not meant for those whom you find “annoying” and/or “don’t want to play with”. Utilize your “Ignore List”.

I can believe it… blizzard doesn’t like keeping a staff of gms for it. Now I don’t agree with it but I can see that as the reason they are holding onto it.

No, squelching is for stopping tumors on the game from killing it. This includes everything from gold sellers to spammers to trolls (including edgy kids).

You’re hiding behind the real crimes of why the Silence exists. “Being annoying” and/or “not worth playing with”, doesn’t fall into the same category as Gold Selling, Spamming and/or Trolling.

EDIT: Some people may find me “annoying” or “don’t want to play with me”. But I’m not on the same level as Gold Sellers, Spammers and/or Trolls. This doesn’t give you the right to harass/threaten/falsely report me, so you can Silence me.

What game do you think the source I linked was talking about?

Yes we do, you just don’t want to see the truth.

What is the statute of limitations on Blizzard’s statements?

Johnny and his friends deciding that they do not “want to play” with Billy and not inviting Billy their group is vastly different than Johnny and his friends deciding to report Billy in order to squelch him.

Your facepalm was in regards to me addressing you, civilly.

I’m not interested in entertaining the events, that happened, yesterday. As I said earlier, I’m starting over with a new clean slate. All the events prior to that statement is irrelevant.

You did take issue with my statement, today. Please, elaborate on what was “out of line”?

Guess what, you do not deserve nor will you be given a pass or “clean slate”. You are a repeat offender. You do not get to be a raging douchenozzle and then suddenly call a cease fire.

Best thing you can do is to stop addressing me directly, or as an aside to Fesz as you are fond of doing. Continue to do it and you better get used to that gif in response.

The problem with censorship rises from the intelligence and the mentality of the one doing the censoring. I posted the following earlier (it’s embedded in the other party’s reply, so I captured it from there): “Read what I wrote. We’re not allowed to post links so I posted all the information needed to find it. Further research on the source documents on which the article is based will give all the numbers. It’s there if you want to do your research of it.
An overly-active amygdala is often displayed in defensive behavior.”

My post in which I gave the initial information referred to in the one above was left up on the forum. This one was not. It was “flagged and removed by staff”.

I can only assume (perhaps incorrectly) that the phrase “overly-active amygdala” was the problem. I may be wrong.

If that phrase was the problem, then why it would be is beyond me. It’s a part of the limbic system which adjoins the temporal lobe of the brain. If that’s why the removal, then it shows a really unfortunate lack of intelligence or sense of the part of the person doing the reporting and on the part of the person doing the removal.

And therein lies the biggest problem with letting any one person or small group of people be in charge of censorship - with a major exception. The problem is you could have really stupid people in charge of censoring people who are smarter than they are, and that would be hilarious if it were not that it could also (in some circumstances) be really dangerous. The major exception would be when it’s a body (corporation, military, etc.) who owns the circumstance (such as Blizzard owns these forums), in which case the owner of the circumstance can censor as they please regardless of how stupid it may be. And it’s not up to any of us to do anything but keep paying to play and shut up, or take our money elsewhere.

Basically, if we don’t like what they’re doing, that’s tough. With the cut-backs, firings, and general restructuring within the parent corporation, there is less attention going to be paid to anyone here than there ever was.

That’s all, folks. Have a great game, and let’s all hope Blizzard doesn’t screw up Classic like they’ve screwed up so much else.

I’m not saying that they will remove the player imposed punishment.

I’m saying that we do not yet know whether they will remove that player imposed punishment, retain the player imposed punishment but adjust the target report number to trigger that player imposed punishment or use the exact same system that is used in BFA.

If I am not mistaken, the last statement from Blizzard regarding the right click report system in Classic is that Blizzard acknowledges that the BFA system is not “compatible with the vanilla environment” and is having internal discussions about how the system should be implemented in Classic.

If anyone can provide a more recent official Blizzard statement, please do so.

Can you cite the one you are talking about?

So, I’m not allowed to make mistakes? We’re only human. I already acknowledge yesterday was a chain of negative energy. I don’t want to hold onto those grudges.

However, what you did to me, and you know what you did, crossed a line. It was personal and hurtful. I’m merely asking you, for the same courtesy because I never sabotaged you, the way you sabotaged me. Please don’t abuse me like that, ever again. Thank you.

And, I’ll only address you, if you present false information (no, I’m not calling you a “liar”). I’m only ever mainly in this thread, anyway because it’s important, to me. I’m not following you around, in other threads. I’m just here, to discuss the topic at hand, just like you are.

As far as I’m concerned, today, I haven’t been out of line. Thank you.
