Since I apparently need to post this now for every single new person coming into this thread (not your fault, given the size of this thread at this point, but still a bit annoying):
The system falls apart when given a real world vanilla situation. See below:
Innocent player would now be getting squelched (repeatedly) for doing nothing wrong in game using the modern system, because some randoms where either triggered by the in game action and seeking “revenge”, or simply didn’t know if Boom’s actions where indeed against the “code of conduct”. The system would be getting abused to punish the player, and zero bans would go out over the abuse because there’s no way to prove the players intent when filing a report.
The schills (4 of which are known forum trolls in Aehl, Padre, Gnocci, and Ziryus) keep ignoring that this system can, will, and does impact rule abiding players, while also ignoring that it can, and will impact people in a much more drastic fashion than the system does on the retail game because of the vanilla era reliance on communication to be able to group. A squelch in Classic is not the same thing as a squelch on retail.
