Yesterday I received an email that my WoW1 and WoW2 has been closed for “abuse of economy”. I have not done anything of that sort, and am yet to get a clear response on what version of the game (retail or tbc) I am being accused in, as I have toons I play in both versions.
Ive put so many hours into my toons in both versions since I started playing this game last year, and its very devastating and demoralizing to lose it all for something you are certain you did not do.
I am requesting some investigation into my situation, as it is definitely a false flag. I received my data via the Blizzard Data Protection service and looked thoroughly through and there are no details on why I was banned. I don’t even know what version of the game I’m being accused in, yet I’m locked out of both retail and tbc… permanently?
Have you received gold for any services you’ve provided?
If any of that gold has been from illicit sources (Gold sellers), you’re going to get caught up in the whole real money transfer thing - even if you didn’t know.
But Blizzard is not going to tell you much more detail though.
The only means to appeal an account action is the ticket system you already used. They do not personally interact with you, take data or information from players, or anything else. They use only the data they have in their own anti-cheat software and logs.
The CS forum is an Information Desk to help people navigate the Support system, explain policies, and explain account services. There are no Hacks team members here, nor GMs. Nobody here can escalate or review your ban. That is only done via tickets.
They don’t usually give details about what triggered the ban either - outside the general category you already got.
I appealed and received a very very generic answer. Nothing about what version of the game I’m accused in, what I’m accused of, etc. I did receive gold recently in retail for running my resil AOF 19 key, but that is within ToS. How am I supposed to know where that gold is from? Am I liable to a PERMANENT ban now because of that?
I have appealed and received a generic response, so I appealed again today. What can I do to so they take a proper look and realize it was a false ban?
If the investigating person thinks it’s warranted, they will escalate it for a deeper investigation. That is not something that players can request though.
Yes. If that gold was illicit gold, and you got it directly from a gold seller account, yours will be closed. They will also do that if you have multiple instances of trading with accounts moving illicit gold.
While transfer of gold for a run is allowed in some game versions, it is unsupported. It is totally at your own risk and if something goes wrong, your bear the consequences.
It is best to only get gold from people you know well - on max level chars that are doing the run with you. If you take that risk at all.
The gold was from a person in the run on a standard geared high io toon. How am I supposed to know where the gold is coming from? I am relatively new to retail, my understanding is that transactions via gold are completely allowed. When someone offered me some gold to run my key with them, how am I supposed to know that I have to interrogate them on where they get their gold from. It seemed legitimate as it was from a high io normal toon.
Every appeal gets a new person to look over the evidence they have.
They intentionally will only send you 1 of 4 templates (upheld, overturned, penalty reduced, or escalated) to avoid tipping off the RMTers/botters on how they’re being detected and banned.
I currently play two versions of the game (retail and TBC). My WoW1 has my retail toons and some TBC toons, and my WoW2 has TBC only toons. I haven’t done anything in TBC the past 2 months besides raid once a week, as I’ve been busy playing retail m+. I do not know what it possibly could be that has flagged me if its TBC, none of the people I interact with in TBC (guildies), have been banned and are as confused as I am. In retail, my only interaction that could have possibly flagged me is getting paid for my key (which is allowed). Yet I am unable to find out what version of the game I’m being accused in. But I’m being permanently banned in both. Is there anyway to even find out what version I’m being accused in ?
Hmm, I wonder if the action was against your retail licence. If I recall, I think any game time gets forfeited too, and no game time would mean you won’t have access to the other versions of WoW.
I am extremely confused as to if its against retail or tbc. Both my WoW1 and WoW2 have been falsely banned, but I play on retail and tbc in my WoW1 and only TBC on my WoW2. But I haven’t done anything in tbc for the past 6ish weeks besides raid once a week. I cannot get an answer from the appeal as to which version of the game it is in. My guess is the false flag is from retail, but the fact both WoW1 and WoW2 were banned makes me think it may be from tbc. But I don’t know what I couldve done in TBC that wouldve caused a false flag.
I don’t know if the gold I received for my key was illicit. It was given to me by someone in the run who was on a normal geared high io character for that type of run. Regardless, I don’t even know if thats what the false flag is on or if its something from TBC (which I don’t know what it could be considering I am very inactive on TBC these past 6+ weeks). The support system hasn’t provided me with even just a little bit of clarity on what they think I did.
The proper course of action is to appeal. I’m sorry, but that is the only option available. We cannot review these actions via the forums nor escalate your ticket. Hopefully, they can find evidence that indicates an error was made. Good luck.
