Faerin's actually cool and I will die on that hill

Ones more practical than the other.

Ah, I can relate to that in my own way. I got my arms but I did suffer through a botched surgery and have permanent nerve damage on both my feet, but ones a lil worse than the other.

This kinda taught me about how things like surgery aren’t a magic fix for your health problems.

And I kinda internalized that and opt to refuse getting eye surgery even though my eyesight is actually terrible.

I’ve gotten so used to being near sighted that, assuming the surgery would statistically be a very high success chance, it’ll forever change how I see, and after some consultation I understand that it will change, and I’ll be far sighted instead of near sighted.

And I hold the phone close to my face, I look closely at objects especially when im drawing, and observe the world as if I’m constantly looking through a magnifying glass.

If I get eye surgery I will lose that forever and that honestly terrifies me lol

Yup. It’s the way so much old media would be cried about and called “woke” if it came out today.

I remember when everyone thought it was so bad9ss when that chick in Lord of the Rings pulled off her helmet and said “I am no man!” before stabbing the Witch King. Whole audiences cheering. If that happened today people would cry about “strong female character making her identity a focal point! so woke! wahhh!”

Culture war brainrot has ruined these people’s ability to enjoy any media

So, girls in California have British accents now?

Well if the Thalassian elves can turn British by being infused with the void, why not?

I grew up watching Captain Planet, and it was one of my favorite shows when I was a little kid.

Can you imagine if it came out today? Yeesh.

That’s the spirit plus eye surgery could cause severe complications. I’ve heard of people that have permanently red eyes because they have severe dry after surgery. They wake up and can’t even open them cuz they’re swollen and crusty

I was referring more to her tone and femininity, it paints a picture in my head that looks nothing like Faerin, you know?

People liked Deadpool and Wolverine but its ongoing success has been arguably bogged by politics.

Exactly. I look at things like old Star Trek and Star Wars and wonder if any of these “fans” crying about wokeness ever actually paid attention to the media they’re watching.

I guess it makes more sense to me because my cousin recently lost his leg. Drunk driver got him while he was on his motorcycle. He’s still working on crutches and stuff. If he’s fine with a wheelchair. Cool. If he wants to get a prosthetic. That’s fine too. I’ll try and support him no matter what. Not get angry at him.

I quite enjoy my forum posting privilege so nah. I ain’t giving you what you want.

As someone with chronic nerve pain in my bladder. I feel ya. Nerve pain blows. Unless you mean damage as in “Now I can’t feel my feet”

I don’t blame you not wanting to have your eyes messed with either. Heck I can’t even bother getting new glasses because I hate that “Okay lets just have this thing blow air into your eye real quick” part of eye exams.

Must be a lot of “these people” considering no one watched it, hence why it was canceled. If people actually liked that garbage, they would have watched it, and Disney wouldn’t have wasted $180 million lol.

That’s been the best Marvel movie in quite a while.

I just want something like DS9 again.

Strange New Worlds was cool, though.

I wonder if people dislike her? Or just dislike the fact that yet another paladin or light character is part of the story.

Ya, I get you. Making a disable character in a story is very hard to do, let alone getting the readers to understand. Heck many disable people don’t understand themselves from what I was told.

Thats not how that works theres a difference between a strong female character and the modern day strong woman vibes.
Ripley, sarah conner, Laurie Strode, OG Tomb Raider all strong female characters people love
The new scream chicks who cant act, batwoman tv show, the chick from new Indiana Jones, new tomb raider the entire female cast of border lands ect girl bosses who no one can relate to who are perfect and better than everyone else. Take unrealistic amounts of damage even turning your brain to enjoy doesnt work

She is and she isn’t.

I like her voice actor.

I don’t like her character design. First why did they make her so ugly and second why does she have a shield if she doesn’t have an arm to use it?

I also have a serious bone to pick with whoever wrote her lines where she says she doesn’t want an arm because she doesn’t want to learn how not to be crippled. It’s got to be one of dumbest lines ever.

It’s more of the lack of feeling for me, i don’t have a ton of pain. quite the opposite, sometimes i imagine what it’s like having a needle poking through the fleshy bits and not being able to feel anything. That’s pretty freaky. I also kinda walk funny because of it.

Ugh, I hate having my eyes messed with. I always just say heck it and pay a other 40 bucks or whatever it is for them to photograph my eyeballs instead of using the eye drops dilation thingy.

I think my last eye exam went to over 400 dollars so it’s getting expensive lol

No, it’s stupid to not push people into bettering themselves, If she has the opportunity to reduce or eliminate one of her disabilities, she should be encouraged to pursue it. That lame excuse is a discredit to her character.

If that happened today, she would be doing it to Sauron while Frodo and Aragorn weeped on the sidelines after stumbling due to running into each other. She would also likely be from a minority/disabled for extra diversity points.

The point isn’t strong women are bad. It’s ONLY women are strong and competent, while men are bumbling buffoons. And that makes literally no sense.

Faerin hits all that notes, which is why people call it all woke, and rightfully so, but she’s a good character, that fits well, despite her perceived “wokeness”, unlike the ones we’ve seen in other media.

The issue with “woke” media is when they reduce the characters and overall story to those points alone, with no real background to support it.

i thought she was cool until she walked back her own words almost instantly lol.

“i dont need anything, make stuff for the others instead”

“akchually i want shocks on my shield and it’s gonna be complicated… Thanks!”

*reminds me of the girlfriend that says she doesnt want fries but then takes all your fries.
that’s not cool
