I think it’s just meant as a fun nod to the shared heritage of this off-shoot of the old arathi empire and the last direct descendant of the arathi bloodline. Calling her a relative is incorrect.

It’s lore similar to Mechagon, probably was a crazy myth that existed about the Arathi too. 
I suspect Joesph will be involved. 
Oh, I’m well aware of the exploitative nature of representation, but I can put that aside if a character is well designed and written. Faerin’s design is just generic strong black woman with the man cut. I’d take something like Sindragosa’s elven mirage anyday over that.

It’s not like they made her directly related in any way either. 1000 years from a side branch of the family is not really important at all. Just name recognition at this point.
I’m hoping she has an interesting personality. The design does seem very “modern-diversity” inspired. But if she’s a good character I think it’s all fine.
I wish more could. AC Shadows is an example of exploiting with Yasuke…who didn’t really do much.

That was a slap in the face and bizzare because AC has never had players taking the role of actual historical people, your player just interacts with them.

Yep, I actually enjoy real diversity, that works in the story. I hate the checkmark attitude that just makes people hate the characters.

He’s not much of a historical figure. There were definitely things saying he was never proven to be a samurai and now everyone is re-writing history to say he was? I mean maybe he was but there is no proof he was and they are saying that he definitely was, with no proof of such…that’s not what a good historian would ever do.

We call characters, people ect. by pronouns like “he, she, they.” Not “it.”

The new game Tears of Metal is based on Scots fighting the Brits Braveheart style but the trailer showed PoC Scots too.
I think at this point you should stop wanting to feel somewhat immersed in a setting.
Can’t they just be fantasy? There really is nothing wrong with that.

When the majority of black women in movies and games are written as lesbians and roughnecks and given the same character design while the people creating them tout it as representation, that’s not a compliment. Lets not try to turn this into a “you just mad cause gay” thing. Diversity stacking (cramming as many minority traits into one person as possible) is lazy.

It’s super difficult to grasp any straws when I’m not defending anything. I made an observation on player behavior. That’s all.
Maybe don’t get so defensive yourself, so that you don’t read so much into things.

Who is “y’all”? Pattern recognition is not a crime. Like I said, I’ll be happy if proven wrong. But her character design is dusty and played out.
