Faerin vs Xal’atath cgi model

Just the generic outrage I see over a fantasy character from players all over the place, not necessarily even here. Your statement just made me think of it again. Sorry, that wasn’t meant to be some sort of callout. Apologies if it felt that way.

I can’t judge anything yet. I haven’t been introduced to her and I’m not playing beta so I can play it again on release. LOL So I’ll have to wait until later. But… to be fair… pretty much all characters in games and movies and tv shows are all dusty and played out. There is nothing new. We’re all starved innovatively. And I say this as a writer. I fail at it, too.

Xal’atath

Faerin is just excessively unnecessary. We have way too many humans already, we didn’t need more. Especially did not to find whole other kingdom of them.

Please Blizzard, stop with the humans.

I think back to when Xal’atath wasn’t an Elf. That’s not even her face.

As a being that exists outside of creation (aka Azerothian) such a character would have no conception to how the mortal races live, the culture, the dance, music, art and makeup. she has no connection to any of it.

And yet being this outsider just being a stone cold baddie just exuding power and charisma is so fun to me.

Reminds me of when I watched Locke & Key (I’m sorry I keep bringing it up) but Dodge was this truly Eldrich thing, an echo of an echo that, after they broke free their first bet was to go in and steal an expensive diamond necklace because why not?

A being without any connection to cultural amenities using the absence of humanity basically simulating humanity through sheer power of will to exist.

She talks the talk and she walks the walk. I wished she wasn’t bad because then we’d have to kill her

Faerin is a hybrid

They’re half elves though.

A kingdom that’s high elf and human population created a new “partial” elf people.

You mean like how Chen/the Stormstout family suddenly came about(no one seem to bat an eye that existed(? She is likely some very distant cousin of Anduin Lothar.

Pretty sure as a being that was trapped in the dagger used by mortals for thousands of year she would have learned about mortal culture.

Faerin looks amazing. I love that she’s an amputee, gives Malenia, Blade of Miquella vibes. And she’s stunning, strong, gorgeous. Very much on the wide spectrum of what a woman is, in spite of the ugly comments in this thread.

Excited to have new Lore Characters, so many have been trashed.

She reminds me more of her:

Lol, I write also and it makes me harsher on character design and writing. I am extra hard on Faerin’s design because the powers that be keep trying to make her style the standard look for all black women in media and it is low effort. There are so many hairstyles they could have gone with and they went with this yet again. Why do troll ladies and Harronir have hair closer to reality than Faerin?

I go with Xal’atath… Just her fashion and how the character is portrait and written hit all my like checkboxes!

Faerin looks cool, typical strong female soldier we seen showered in resents many fantasy stories, games and media, but sadly it’s been overdone IMO…
Also I tend to like my Black Women more in the lines of Dragon Age Inquisition Vivienne de Fer, there was something so alluring about that characters look, voice acting and behavior that really capture my interest in that game. (IMO)

I think she could end up being a very interesting character. And I do want her to do well. I really hope she does well.

I do not like the trolls that will hate on any character because “diversity”. But there is a lowkey offensive use of “diversity”. Her character design kinda does resemble. (Stereotypical diversity) Again, I haven’t seen anything, and she may well be a wonderful character. I want that kind of depth of character.

this isnt new in world of warcraft, why does it matter now? is it cause theyre black?

Btw I like your name, I assume it’s a derivative of ouroboros. Did you name your character because of the talent dracthyr get or after the eternal snake from mythology?

  2. Faerin
  3. Xal

They are both heinously ugly beings.

You’re a rogue, so we know the obvious choice is the dagger :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Me too, but this is just my first impression when ask directly about the CGI model…we know next to nothing about that character, so it’s not a fair comparison to Dragon Age Inquisition Vivienne de Fer… after I know all her story, got to know her and did questing with that character as the story progress in DAI.

Vivienne de Fer seem to ooze her personality and what she was about just by looking at her… she look very attractive to me and her racial features were VERY pronounce, she look just beautiful for a fictional character at that time. (IMO)

Faerin I’m not sure… yet, but I guess we will find out!

Oh thanks! I use after the eternal snake from mythology!
Oreb/orev part is just ancient hebrew for crow or raven… since Drakthyr look more like snakes and their snout look like beaks I try to be smart about it and mix the 2 to create the name! I’m such a nerd when it comes to this stuff! :dracthyr_crylaugh:

They’re humans with distant elf ancestry.

I mean I’ve heard that elves with rounded ears were also datamined. We could end up seeing a kingdom has vastly different elf percentages depending on the npc.
