Faerin Lothar is ugly and forgettable

Wouldn’t it have been nice if she lost that arm when she’s helping the player? Nah, that’s too much for Golden’s team to do. Let’s just go for the cheap diversity point method instead cause it looks good on the trailer.

I try to stay out of all these social and political stuff… but this, THESE EXACT WORDS are what my Uncle who is a Physiatrist said years ago to me about these type of people who some are patience of his. “Also at the same time some take it further and profit from it”, he added… it’s a win, win in their minds he said after. (Just remembered)

I said: “So like a guilty pleasure?” He laughed and said: “yeah something like that”

I was very young, didn’t get what he was saying until years later!

Dang we live in a small world.

But it’s not stupid.

See, for most people right, we’re born, we have four functional limbs and we become used to using those four limbs to do all the things we need to do. We take them for granted and we become reliant on them.

Then, often when we’re adults, we might get into an accident, or maybe we’re serving in the military and suddenly we lose a limb, let’s say for the sake of keeping things similar, we lose an arm. Now, we’re reduced. All the things we’re used to doing with 2 arms, we can now only do with one. So we get a prosthetic, which depending on the level of technology in it might be really good, but its never really the same. Still, we have it because we need it. We’re reliant on having four functional limbs.

For Faerin, she lost her arm when she was a young child. She grew up teaching herself how to do everything she needed to do with one hand. Sword use, dressing herself, reading books, preparing and eating meals. She’s not reliant on needing four limbs, she only needs three.

So when she’s offered a prosthetic arm, she declines it, because for her, she would need to relearn everything because now she has a fourth limb that she hasn’t had for all of her life. She doesn’t want to go through that. She’d rather those prosthetics go to grown men and women who lose limbs in battle and need to have them replaced because they’re reliant on them.

The “choosing” to be disabled part is where to me it’s pretty obvious that the character is just a DEI checklist character.

No one chooses that.

What does DEI mean? (I’m not from the USA)

She’s a strong, independent woman that don’t need no arm :triumph:.

How crazy would that be if they used that as a moment to show just how horrifying war can be? Instead of the weird celebration of losing one’s limb, imagine if they played up the horror of it and how this character had a long hard road before they felt capable again? Jamie learning to fight after losing his dominant hand made for a compelling arc in Game of Thrones.

Losing a limb is not a “diversity is strength” moment… it should be treated as horrifying and something we strive to avoid, that we fight to bring peace so others can avoid the same fate.

Unfortunately they don’t think that far ahead. It’s included because they just want inclusion brownie points.

Yeah…

This isn’t a thing. This is how an abled person thinks.

Just because someone learns how to use the bathroom as a paraplegic doesn’t mean they don’t want their legs back to make it easier.

Legion has such a high point with the class halls, but it has low lows as well where it’s so weird where they killed 3 major lore characters without the PC really being there and having a strong send-off besides Paladins for Tirion. It’s like the Broken Shore invasion was based off faulty info that so many other characters should’ve been able to see through when they have access to visions, far sight, and other forms of battle tactics via plague bombing etc… and the narrative really suffered for it with years of the Anduin and Sylvanas saga

Actually I’ve heard a few stories, but never mind. Yeah, that’s the issue, they could have easily gotten the same result by having the character become disabled via the story, but because the writing team that added that character has no imagination, they went full diversity on it. It’s a shame, had they done what I said, I doubt people would have a problem with it, in fact it would have made the character more endearing and more interesting. Anyway, I’m happy to see I’m not the only one who notices it.

Really it’s not, it’s dull and uninspiring, which is sad because by tweaking things a lot this character could look amazing too.

The armor looks like bland alliance garb and shows zero skin (If the white parts of the armor were given color and the little bit of blue on the legs and good arm showed her skin instead that’d be a neat touch).

I personally think a mechanical arm could have visually brought more to the table as well, but will give a little nod to the shield concept as being decent.

The hair is giving me Kid n’ Play vibes which is a really bad thing, imagine some awesome long dreads with golden beads.

Creatively things feel lacking for me.

Not huge on lore, but I find myself not wanting to help/quest for a decent majority of the “new” factions. I simply don’t care about the story, because it’s not good enough to care about.

Who ?

Dreads fit the WoW art style. This poofy double fade fro look (???) is not fitting with the art style.

Honestly this is sooo much better than the trailer for the new one with its “Plucky Avengers, assemble!” vibes.

And the point goes right over your head.

You literally argued ‘a paraplegic would want their legs back’. Of course they would, because they’re used to having the use of their legs. They’d do anything to have the use of their legs back. But someone who becomes a paraplegic as a child, who never really used their legs, doesn’t need to have them back, so technology that gives them access to limbs they never really learned to use, doesn’t help them.

I can see you have absolutely no idea how that works or even bothered to google why some people would choose not to.
