Faerin isn’t using a tower shield. On top of that, even tower shields need to be able to be repositioned to defend from certain angles or more notably be held completely above your head in order to do a proper testudo formation.
Also keep in mind that the Scutum could be used for bashing and even had a specific design for it. Even though the “shield wall” formations are the well known thing about legionnaires, the shield was very much a wielded thing and not just a wall they carried around and set down.
Eventually we can get into stuff that is essentially just “portable cover”, but they’re not really shields anymore and aren’t used like shields.
As for shield straps it was a common design, but shields were generally strapped to a person’s forearm so that you still had use of your elbow joint.
What I trying to get at is that a small shield would be useless. A big shield is at least somewhat useful. BUT they could have tried a shield less approach and a fencing type of fighting stance.
She literally has a shield arm made and previously improved by the smith, she wasn’t doing out of her way of previous actions. Raen wants to help and Faerin wants help, no one is taking -all- of someone’s fries.
that would be perfect if she didnt say something along the lines of “i don’t need anything , help the others instead”.
instead of sticking with it, now it just looks like she said that because it was a nice thing to say. not as great for the character image in my book. kinda ruined it actually.
Nah. She will just join the paladin order, existing specs will get additional skills/talents.
The Lamplighters will teach how to wield the sacred flame for other races of Azeroth and Void Elves and Forsaken will be able to become paladins too.
Very much still curious about what your thought here actually is. You never said exactly what you mean by this?
Nevermind that Forsaken and Void Elves can already be paladins in the lore, (We see the undead use the Light in several places and Void Elves just got a paladin npc added in Telogrus Rift.) I am curious what you mean by this?
I do find the Arathi’s version of the Light, mixing it with elemental Flame directly, which I also assumed Sunwalkers do but apparently not, is rather intriguing. Blizzard has gone a long ways this expansion and some of the last two indicating that the powers that be are rarely actually singularly attuned and often include mixes of multiple power forces. (Lamplighters using Arcane, Light and Elemental Fire apparently or Calia being a Light Necromanced undead) I’d sure be curious to see if the Eclipse Knight in the Rift is actually somewhat doing a similar thing to be able to use both the Void and Light at the same time.
It is disputable that they can.
If they could, they would be.
The Sacred Flame being used instead of “pure light” would make perfect sense to explain that.
But getting to your question:
The Sacred Flame is not averse to the Void powers, as you can see Alleria was there with her void powers and it didn’t get in conflict with the Sacred Flame.
That is the precedent to me that even wielders of the void could be paladins if they wield the Sacred Flame as source for their holy powers.
As for the Forsaken, when we first get into the Priory of the Sacred Flame and we see people being reanimated by the Sacred Flame, Anduin notices that it seemed to be the same powers that brought Calia back to life.
That tells me that Forsaken can learn to wield the sacred flame and become paladins (or be paladins again), something that they lost capacity when they became Forsaken.
