As a returnign player to WoW Classic, I was a little shocked to see that the server I used to play on (OCE - Arugal) was significally dominated by The Horde.
I am curious how Blizzard intends to address this, as playing on a substancial minority faction is quite unattractive if you want to find a raid team, which we can imagine most people want to do.
Furthermore, I would be interested what the philosophy is on faction battlegrounds and arenas. I can’t help but guess that most people would favour shorter queue times over playing with the same faction.
As we saw in retail, a lot of servers naturally gravitate towards dominating one faction. It doesn’t matter whether or not this is due to racial bonuses or the pre-existing population majority, what matters is that this problem is combated before an entire region is only playing one faction.
It would be nice to see free faction changes be implemented to address this, as well as potentially balancing some of the racials - which I know is a hot topic, at this current moment I cannot remember (nor can be bothered) remembering how balanced the racials are, I know people like to stay true to what is ‘classic’ but I personally prioritize faction balance over this. Especially if it’s just a minor racial bonus change, from memory though, the racial bonuses in Cataclysm are fairly balanced, though I may be corrected on this.
In any case, I hope Blizzard have some strategy to combat the faction imbalance, before players rejoin for Cataclysm and feel like they only have on choice in faction.
