Faction locked servers?

Im not sure if this information has been posted/discussed anywhere but will the servers be faction locked after creating a character? For example once you create an alliance you will not be able to create a horde member on the same server, and vice versa.

I would expect PVP servers to be faction locked as it was in Vanilla. PvE you could play both sides.

I suspect that’ll be the case but I wouldn’t mind the enhancement of allowing both.

Has not been said yet. But, I hope not. Either way it won’t matter for me, as I have 2 accounts, so I’ll be able to be logged onto both factions at the same time regardless, and can relay locations of the opposite faction raids etc to the faction being attacked without repercussions.

There’s no point in locking factions in 2019. Too many ways to communicate cross faction these days to really make a difference.

PvP servers were faction locked. I hope they are again. While it is easier to communicate crossfaction out of game, trying to curb some of the greifing and collusion that goes on in-game, should be a goal.

Yep on pvp servers because pvp servers revolve around how wow was suppose to be played faction vs faction.
Normal or what people are calling pve have had the option of rolling what ever you want.

It’s not just about communication, it’s rivalry. That rivalry is a thing Classic pvp servers really got right and it fell apart in TBC with a shared outland city.

it’s not just about communication across factions, which believe it or not, was also very easy during vanilla

it’s about feeling committed to one faction or another on a realm because you can’t literally play both sides (without spending more money)

I do believe this was actually touched on in one of those sit down personal interviews. Do not quote me, I will go look.

This didn’t change until Wrath, so a good guess the PvP server = 1 faction rule will stay for Classic.

Yeah, way back in 2004 before fire and the wheel there was literally no way to communicate with anyone outside the game.

Oh knock it off, you goon.
I meant there’s MORE ways now than back then and you know it. Either that or your power of inference is severely lacking.

PVP = 1 Faction per account per server.
This is a basic building block of Vanilla Wow.

No, I don’t know it. This is a failed argument.

Were all available at that time. Can you please take a brief break from name-calling and pontificating to educate us on the technology we have now that means we should throw out the faction lock on PvP servers?

Yeah, I only need one: Battle Net itself.

But if you need more than that one and glaringly ironic method, perhaps these additional ways might un-fail my argument:

  • Google Hangouts

Why is BNet enough to not require faction locked PvP servers? Have you used “appear offline” mode?

The fact Blizzard themselves gives you a direct way of speaking to both factions on the same server is reason enough to ditch the faction lock. But I’m done with you. Your condescending tone is off-putting and does not entice me to continue debating you.

It amazes me people can actually think removing the faction lock on pvp servers is a good thing. It’s a fundamental aspect of the experience. It is essential. There’s no way that restriction won’t exist in Classic.

You can opt out of that by using “appear offline”.

There’s no reason to drop the faction lock on PvP servers.
