If one faction has:
- An easier time finding groups for PvP
- An easier time finding groups for m+
- An easier time finding raiding guilds
Then players should play on that faction. It will maximize their enjoyment of their video game- and that’s the point of video games, enjoyment.
Blizzard made a design decision to have factions be far more than cosmetic. They determine you access to surprisingly powerful racial abilities and limit your group options, IE: lower stun duration + a free trinket effect and AoE dispel. At times, the alliance clearly had better racials and at other times, the horde. Between expansions, the factions seesawed in size. However, Horde has achieved critical mass over the past 3 expansions dues to slightly better racials- but more importantly that everything group content related has become easier due to the sheer size difference of the horde.
At this point, Blizzard would have to make playing horde unbearable to rebalance the factions- like bringing back old every man for himself but on a 1.5m cooldown. Something that would actually break the game.
So, SOME players have decided to blame the player base for treating a video game… like a video game and maximizing their enjoyment by playing on the faction that actually has an easy time finding groups. Those people might as well be getting pay checks from SquareEnix cause they are just driving people into FF14.
Instead, it’s Blizzards job to fix it- because we pay them to fix things every month via our subscription. Which, again, is difficult because the problem is so severe now. Blizzard should start to allow Horde vs Horde battlegrounds at all level brackets instead of just merc mode at max level. Blizzard should allow cross faction grouping with battletag friends for M+, rated PvP, and raiding.
pro life tip: If you are doing something you don’t want to do and you aren’t being paid for it, you are a chump.

Look through this list of servers and populations and find one that suits your game style.

Its really not the players job to fix IMHO… But Blizz has to be very careful on how they address it.

Blizzard just proved it doesn’t matter it’s a “player created problem” since they fixed a “player created problem” for TBC’s Horde with the most absurd overstep.

Why cant they add “Merc mode” in regards to Mythic plus and raiding?

Overstep? More like overdue.
No AAA PvP game has 3 hour queues.
Most have like 3 second queues.

Too many sheeple around these parts.
So then why isn’t retail cross faction pve for the “player created issue”? AAA games shouldn’t have half the player base working at a massive handicap.

Or, they can just get rid of factions all together in PVE
Problem solved. No merc mode needed

Merc mode only works because they actually change your race upon zoning into the random BG. You can’t whisper horde when you are an alliance character.
The battletag system would get around this so it’s a lesser ask from a technical standpoint, most likely.
It should be.
This.
I work with the Horde’s leaders on a regular basis, but the average Nightborne would rather murder me on sight than work together to take down something threatening the planet and/or reality itself?
Make it make sense.

It is? I talk about that in the OP.
It’s easier to PvE as horde than alliance.
Yeah but ION basically said they would never do that but then again they basically said the same thing about classic servers soo…
I feel the faction imbalance, at this point, is not fixable. The best they can do, to curb the ramifications of it, is to allow cross-faction raids, BGs, etc.
There is no reason not to do this (and no, “lore” isn’t a reason, we unite every expansion anyway to defeat the big bad).

Honestly they could equalize the racials
For example there be a set of racials that are exactly the same for both factions.
Spread out amongst the variety of races per faction.
Or allow each player to pick one racial benefit per toon.
Kinda like the loas with the z-trolls
That wouldn’t fix it at this point because the ease of finding a group on horde is now so much greater than alliance.

I agree the big brains at blizzard need to come up with some more creative ways to make alliance more appealing in both pve and pvp.
Actually, during Blizzconline Ion said it was on the table…pretty much the opposite of saying they would never do that.

Can we pay to transfer all the whiney ppl to one server?
Because M+ and raiding aren’t queued content. Merc mode only works for instanced queued content.
In order to zone into my raid, you have to be part of the raid while outside, in the open world. You cannot have people in a raid or M+ group unless you are also in the same group outside the instance; they’re inseparable.
