Just wondering if Blizz has spoken any more about paid faction changes coming yet?
We are getting closer to wotlk 2nd patch (ulduar), so surely they must be thinking about it soon.
With the release of DF, quite a few of my friends went back to retail, so it would be nice to be able to faction change where some other friends are playing as the opposite faction.
yes lets actually institute the thing that killed servers paid transfers to horde and server transfers. i can’t understand how anyone believes this is a positive thing to be added into the game. return the worm hole you crawled out of.
i’ll be incredibly annoyed if they offer any paid transfers to other servers, and or faction changes which is what killed servers back in retail. not RDF.
The Classic team already said why they implement things like this. It’s either they can transfer or they quit. Telling your bosses that a bunch of people quit because you won’t let them transfer to an active server isn’t going to win you any favors.
Classic players obviously want single faction servers anyway, so let them have it.
then switch to alliance. reroll. it should be painful to switch factions. the fact they implement things that will net them money but leave out actual things from the expansion is dumb. its hypocritical. again, they use the argument of the spirit of classic then listen to the idiots who say RDF ruined the servers integrity of the server community, but will champion server/faction transfers are little more then morons. you will see “dead” servers become the definition of that word. most who say a server is dead are complaining that their server isn’t as active as a mega server.
again transfers shouldn’t be a thing either. much like faction transfers shouldn’t be a thing. it devalues the server you’re on. much more than what RDF ever did. the social interaction for dungeon is a bunch of bull. anyone claims RDF killed the game didn’t recognize what was going on right in front of them.
I do agree that RDF didn’t kill the community, but, there’s no difference between changing servers through transfer or reroll, because both would effectively remove me from that server. The same applies to faction changes.
are you sure of this? 100% absolutely sure of this? because i’d wager you’re 100% wrong. paying 25 to jump to another server. getting to take your gold your loot and whatever else you have makes it super easy on you. in fact, i would argue it makes it a painless decision to hope off your current server to another. where as if you were forced to abandon your current toon to reroll you would have to weigh your decisions to do so.
The issue here is that your stance is based on subjectivity, and therefore is not objective.
The reality is that regardless of if I transferred servers or rerolled on a new server, my initial server would still have one less player.
The difficulty isn’t necessarily there, either. For example, if I hadn’t used the 70 boost yet, I’d be able to skip much of the levelling process to expedite the process on my new realm.
its not subjective its objective. Korgath in retail was a top 5 realm in retail from wrath to middle of mist of pandaria. what degraded it? 1 top guild collapsed into another top guild. that guild in mist moved on over to the server Sargeras. Another top guild collapsed from 25 raid group to a 10 man raid group in FL and during ToT that guild faction transferred to horde and fell a part afterwards. a bunch of middling raid groups had half their teams would flee to other servers. during WoD Korgath had fallen all the way down to around the fifties. this doesn’t happen when you do not have these options available to your player base. hell, it would make it far more difficult if we never had these options available to players to just abandon servers and or change factions on a dime. being forced to abandon your toons should be painful if you want to be on another server and or faction.
Yea you’re right. Never thought about it that much but transfers and faction changes did open a can of worms. It totally did more damage than RDF when you think about it.
