I have a Faction Change code I am looking to use but I am unable to find anywhere on the store where I can use it, any ideas?
Not entirely sure what code you have, but if you navigate to account overview, there is a Redeem a Code option there.
Tried that and I am getting a
500: Internal Server Error
The code is 25 digits and the ones on the redeem code page is only 20 digits.
Where did you get the code? The only codes I’m aware of are Battle.net balance codes, expansion codes, pet/mount codes. I don’t think there are any codes for character services.
The codes are typically in the format of 4-4-5-4-4.
Was employed by Blizz from 07-12 and the system they used to use was codes for Paid Services before they moved to the current system.
You mean from 2007-2012? That’s an awfully long time ago. It’s very possible those codes are no longer valid.
Indeed it was, but I had to pay taxes on them so hopefully they are still good.
I’m sorry, but something just isn’t adding up here. You could either submit a ticket or perhaps one of our SFAs will be around to hopefully give you more information than I’m able to.
Anything you would like clarified?
I worked for Microsoft (Xbox in particular) from 2014-2020. 4 of those 6 years I was a Team Leader in Customer Support.
We were given codes for Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass. We did not have to pay taxes on those codes, and the value of Xbox Live and Game Pass definitely exceeds that of a Faction Change.
When companies give out codes like this, you don’t have to pay taxes. That’s why I said something isn’t adding up. I’m not saying I don’t believe you, but I do feel this would be better resolved in a ticket.
Use this path: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/788/ticket
Ah, so in Texas (not sure if TX thing or US) at least codes like that are considered bonuses and the value of them would need to be paid as taxes. Most companies, when giving a gift or a benefit like that eat the cost of taxes. Later on Blizz stopped doing that iirc and we ended up having to count (or something) it as a bonus so they were taxed.
But yeah I went ahead and opened a ticket, hopefully they get back to me this quarter.
As someone who is from Texas, and who had friends who worked for Blizzard, no, they did not pay taxes on codes that were given since the only time that would happen is when the total amount of the codes per year went over several thousand dollars in expense. And, that would only be for federal tax purposes since Texas has no state income tax.
Did they ever get back to you? I’m in the same boat. I have a TON of 25 digit codes and had been told at the time they’d never expire. I totally understand them changing the system after so many years but it would be nice if I could use them ofc
