Expulsom. Please don't do this again

Now listen, I loved the scrapping system. The idea of getting some of the resources back for things I probably couldn’t sell? Awesome! Did it have to be from the scrapper? Not necessarily. Like I feel a great explanation would have just been the wartime conservation of materials, leading to more teaching practices about recycling your old materials.

But Expulsom.
Crafting used to be like a fun little hobby. The obliterum system in legion was tedious, but it was rewarding to finally get that huge upgrade! It was something I could use - heck I was raiding heroic tomb with a crafted headpiece I made myself!

But expulsom.
First off, it’s so hard and unrewarding to get. The quality of your item doesn’t matter, just the sheer amount. I have ended up crafting over 600 coarse leather bracers to get a total of TWENTY EXPULSOM.
20.
That’s it.
And then you toss in recipes that ask for - what was it? 200? For a single piece of gear?
Crafting in this expansion was horrific. I hope shadowlands won’t have something like it because GODS I can’t take it.

to think it’s someone’s job to come up with this stuff huh LOL.

shadowlands will have somthing arguably worse because crafting will be mandatory and you have to grind a currency to obtain the gear and items

Honestly right? Who thought this would be a good idea in the slightest?

And oh. Oh boy. That’s just…lovely.
Is the grinding gold intensive and repetitive?

I hope the one who bring this idea got fired!

Well, I won’t go that far. I DO hope they learned from this though. Frankly I don’t see why this was left in for the entirety of the expansion - I wasted so much gold just trying to get catch-up gear, basically. And then it just wasn’t worth it in the end anyways. XD At this point I’m doing so that my chars won’t be completely shafted at the start of the next expac.

At this point in the expansion these mats should be unbound.

Final raid tier over? All non-final tier BoP drop mats should become tradable.

I think they did this intentionally. I never had that low a drop rate for Expulsom scrapping non crafted gear. At worst it world be between 1-2 every third or fourth item. I’m guessing they significantly reduced the drop rate on crafted gear so that crafters couldn’t get huge amounts if it quickly.

Knowing Blizzard they will implement something bad than revert it when enough people scream at them.

They made it entirely unattainable for casual players. Worse it felt super GRINDY. There was once a time i’d have abhorred using such a made up word. Unfortunately all the other applicable words don’t comply with the TOS.

seriously.
it was stupid.

sitting here making hundreds of green/blue bracers to scrap to hopefully get the expulsom I needed for w/e it was I wanted to craft.

just a stupid system.

Which is…weird? Like we’re the only ones that can use it. If you’re not a crafter you can’t even trade it.

There’s also the conflict between enchanting and scrapping - gear is hard enough to come by in BFA between the huge resource costs and the low drop rates elsewhere.I just gave up on leveling it because I needed expulsom and mats for my tailor.

Frankly the only, and I mean the ONLY viable profession was alchemy. That was it. Anchor weed was rough to find, but I could find it. And the recipes didn’t cost an arm and a leg to make. It was like…the only normal profession.

BFA’s expulsom and Legion’s blood of sargaras were both garbage mechanics that were antogonistic towards the majority of the playerbase since the amount you could get from world quests was utterly abysmal. They were basically put in place to force people who like to use their trades and played casually and wanted nothing to do with m+ or raiding, to do m+ and raiding.

I mean seriously, why put such heavy handed restrictions on a single piece of bop gear??? Oooooo look at me! I got a single pair of goggles at 130ilvl! I’m SOOOOOOOO OP OMGWTFBBQ!

SMH.

I never got heavily into BfA professions but I felt bad for WTBGold (Reckles) when he went into detail explaining how much he hated the scrapper/expulsom while doing the bracer shuffle.

expulsion wouldn’t be as bad if it was tradeable. If your playing an alt that gathers its completely useless. It amazes me they never did anything to correct that. I mean at minimum a merchant kinda like the blood of sargeras from legion would have been something.

GODS THAT’S SUCH A GOOD NAME FOR IT.

I literally haven’t crafted anything else. Just bracers, trying to use as little as I can to get up to something I want while building up enough expulsom to actually make a single one of it.

like I’d love to make some of these sets but I just…can’t… 0.0

The BFA mantra was, “let’s make a horrible decision, implement it and when no one likes it, we will improve it by doubling down on it”.

It’s ok if it is optional .

Give stuff a vendor price if it is bop but also let it be scrappable.

Lots of people stopped crafting early on and destroyed a lot of azerite gear because they didn’t want to deal with the mats from scrapping because a lot of the crafted materials after awhile were bop once you made them .

Yep.
OH GOODNESS WAIT I FORGOT. ALL THE GOOD STUFF I CAN MAKE THAT’S EVEN SEMI COMPETANT CAN’T BE TRADED.

 gods I’m gonna lose it. Why - goodness why did i even do any of this. :joy:

I think they wanted you out doing stuff to get it. World quests, emissaries, even normal/heroic dungeons. I’ve sold at least a hundred expulsion just from the junk gear doing world quests and emissaries. And that’s just from the azurite gear, I usually sold the regular gear.

Maybe that’s what it was, azurite gear might drop more. You said you crafted bracers. Try crafting azurite pieces.
