Explosive Trap is Broken

Hits for 2k and crits for 3k, plus it’s instant, plus it’s aoe, plus it’s got a dot effect? How is this not being discussed more on here?

Nerf the initial damage, buff the dot, and put a target cap of 5 on it (unless there already is one).

Agreed, I want to play a hunter nor a trapper.

Nerfs traps further.

Buff melee.

For goodness sake please.
Hunter is not fun right now.

4 hunters in the right location can kill 30+ of the opposing faction in an AV in about 4 seconds flat… with just traps.

I don’t even bother trying to hold threat off of hunters when they open up with an explosive trap before I even hit thunderclap

I main hunter and even I can admit how busted we are right now.

Its amazing how the damage complaint was a 1.6k crit now its a 3k crit. Tell me where hunters got ~3k more melee attack power. Because eveb with new bis gear and world buffs there isnt that much of a jump.

Ask your rogues to do that thing they do.

You are aware they launch the traps directly onto people right? it’s not like it’s just sitting there waiting for someone to disarm it.

Some people on these forums unironically would point at disarm traps on rogues as a valid counter argument. And sarcasm does not translate well over text because it is primarily a medium of tone, not words.

Trap launcher should never have been a thing even in retail…

Game is scuffed because of this kind of design choices.

Right? Nothing like getting flame shocked or SW pain/void touch while running by someone taking 3500-4500 damage in total from a single instant cast dot ability.

Things that can be dispelled, so unrealized damage. And I assume you mean Vampiric Touch, which has a cast time. But let’s not get mired in details… after all this is a hunter discussion.

who is dispelling me? you can also just avoid where a trap was thrown or move out of it

Its SoD we do more damage so it hits hard but in the grand scheme of things it does not

PVP is not balanced around 1v1. There are plenty of ways to remove dots, you can also potion, or eat/drink further down. Again, unrealized damage.

Second, you can literally launch a trap directly on top of someone in a way that they cannot avoid. And the trap when trigger applies roots to the target.

Soon as Hunters can go one week without having a new one tap or two tap mechanic that requires zero thought and barely has a CD and no cast time, sure.

You could dispel yourself with potions or continue riding for a few seconds and sit and eat.

People aren’t saying to remove the damage entirely from traps they just want it pushed more into the dot effect to allow counter play

Imagine void plague doing 80% of its damage as soon as it landed on you.
