Only Hunters would have the gall to call an instant AOE Lava Burst with barely any CD and near-instant travel time that if it doesnt just kill you outright, has like a 1 in 6 chance to root you “balanced”.
Hunters are basically like shaman if earthbind totem hit you with lava burst while the shaman cast lava burst at you.
trap is not hitting for 2k or critting for 3k in pvp.
The combo is:
scatter shot into throw explosive trap onto player, then instant chimera and one auto attack. You just 100-0’ed basically every class in the game that doesn’t have a full immunity.
Shadowpriest can put 3 dots on you and run away and if you cant cleanse or heal you die
One of those dots is hard casted. And all 3 together would take 15+ seconds to kill you.
And if they’re running void plague they can no longer take dispersion. If you can’t kill a priest in 3 seconds that doesn’t have dispersion, as a hunter, you should just uninstall the game.
I’m not even complaining about the balance though. Just pointing out how hunters are 100-0 people.
It’s wow classic PvP. It has and will always be a rock paper scissors balance with hard counters and cc chains 1+ min. long. If you want a balanced pvp game, classic wow isn’t it.
If they nerf Explosive Trap then they will effectively kill marksman in pve.
Melee was already gutted.
Pet damage was already gutted.
You people really just don’t want a class to exist at all. If they nerf Explosive trap they will pretty much HAVE to buff something else which will probably end up being your next complaint.
Don’t worry, I’m sure Zirene will be around to read the forums and make some more horrible design decisions.

next week people will say 5k and soon after next month 10k… some reason people dont like hunters, i have no idea where the hunters arrow hit them
side note, why dont i see shaman getting nerf’d, they have been broken OP since phase 1 and continue to get op each phase after the last. Soon they will just be able to solo 40 man raids naked
devouring plague, swp, void plague, all instant and i die, cant even eat through it
That sounds like its the complete opposite of broken and its actually working extremely well.
Priest has to give up disperse to get void plague. Devouring plague has a long cool down too.
If you can’t kill a priest that doesn’t have dispersion, there is no help for you.
Again, the game is not balanced around PvP and it never will be. Play a different game if you want balanced PvP.
Hunters are the strongest PvP class in the game right now and you’re still complaining about shadow priests. Spriests are one of the weaker PvP classes right now after they made them choose between vp and disperse.

We wouldn’t need to keep nerfing hunters if the devs would balance them properly the first time
If MM hunter is only explosive trap (its not) then that is a fundamental design issue that needs fixing
In no world should an uncapped aoe, instant cast, ranged spell do 3k dmg crits, when we only have 4k hp at most without fort atm
In order for me to do 3k crit (only on single target) I need to cast a 1.5sec cast, blow a trinket and 3 minute cd
Hunters are delusional if they think this is fine. Imagine if Mage’s Blizzard wasn’t a channel but an instant cast and was doing this dmg
None of those are uncapped AoEs that deal all or nearly all of their damage in contact though.
Good thing it doesnt even do a 2k crit in bis gear with full consunes, buffs, and world buffs.

The only way to get to a 2k crit is a priest power infusing the hunter or beserker buff.

Explosive trap base damage is just under 200 on activation. Then it has +50% melee attack power, cyrrent bis builds show melee atrack power around 800-900, but we will use 1k to make math easy and assume most buffs are present.
So 200+(1000/2)=700 damage.
Talents give 30% bonus damage so
700X1.3=910.
Assuming a crit with 0 resisted thats 1820 (910X2) damage. If we add in the 30% additional critical damage talent it goes up to 2093 (910X2.3)
So with bis gear, it still doesnt even get close to 3k.
