I did say i wouldnt dispute it, though.
I rather see warlocks then Elune priests in Suramar.
This is an odd development considering that Nightborne have had access to the Warlock class from the start.
It would be one thing if the betrayal of the Felborne to the legion made Thalyssra wary of those that practice fel magic, but an outright severance of ties? That’s ridiculous.
Which doesn’t answer anything, considering we don’t know what the Nightborne’s lifespan is without the Nightwell.
What exactly happened with the Tidestone after Azshara was defeated in Nazjatar? Now that we don’t have Dalaran and the Kirin Tor acting as the de facto custodians of Azeroth’s most powerful magical artifacts, I’d like to see it returned to Suramar for safekeeping.
Its also kinda odd given that demon hunters are just worst warlocks, being constantly on the brink of going mad from the inner demon that they ate
What is the point of the playable class if there is no lore for it?
I disagree. A race whose only experience with fel magic was a war it fought against demons who enslaved, corrupted, and shredded their souls with fel magic would naturally shun individuals who play with those powers for “personal gain.” It’s why she respects demon hunters a little more: they at least point fel at fel.
The strength of the disavowal is definitely weird after giving NB the warlock class, though. I guess they’re Suramarian counterculture. Back in the basements and all that.
When Thalyssra visits the Tomb of Sargeras, she doesn’t go out of her way to seek the Pillars of Creation, and she and Theron smell a conspiracy when they visit Dalaran and find them warded and guarded in Aegwynn’s Gallery instead. Presumably they went down with the city. Might have been worth mentioning in my blogpost up there, now I think of it…
Given the Kirin Tor questline in 11.0.7, I wonder if this is hinting at a future plot development. That the Pillars of Creation are some of the artifacts that we don’t recover in that questline. It does say that we don’t find all of them iirc.
The pillars of creation and their whereabouts chronologically remain a confusing subject for me.
Is it not the case that the pillars were initially housed in Dalaran (Aegwynn’s Gallery) and then each one placed at various locations at the Tomb of Sargeras to keep it sealed?
Were they used to seal the Tomb of Sargeras and then stored in Aegwynn’s Gallery? If so, how did Azshara come to possess the Tidestone in BfA?
They were. Although it is important to note a few things.
Four of them (Tidestone, Hammer, Aegis & Tears) were used to gain access to the Fallen Avatar. Hence why you need to have 4 placed before you can do Maiden, outside of the skip of course. One of them (Aegis) is done in a dungeon set before the raid.
The eye of Aman’thul however was not used to seal off the Legion portal, which was its intended purpose for Legions storyline. That is because Kil’jaeden began sealing the portal behind him when he fled. Velen chased him through and we chased after Velen. Therefore one could assume that the Eye of Aman’thul remained in Dalaran or was placed over the portal device as a preemptive measure after the Legion was defeated. So post Antrous. In case any demon with delusions of grandeur wanted to launch another invasion via the Tomb of Sargeras.
I believe the Pillars of creation remained in the Tomb and Azshara got the Tidestone from there. Considering Magni says this in the Legion epilogue in reference to the corruption leaking from Sargeras’ sword.
The Pillars o’ Creation could do it, but they’re keepin’ the tomb sealed.

And I guess this quote also makes it that the Eye of Aman’thul was placed over the portal device at some point after the Tomb of Sargeras raid. As we did not place it onto the device during it.
I always like to imagine that she got it personally considering her agents had failed twice to get a hold on it or at least keep a hold on it. After the events of BFA, the Kirin Tor then moved them back to Dalaran as clearly leaving them inside the tomb did not work.
First of all, thanks for posting this summary! But this one really sticks out as I swear there was some NPC in the anniversary event in Tanaris who said something along the lines of the Broken Shore is still filled with demons. Can’t remember the exact quote or who said it but it’s stuff like this that really gets my goat with how inconsistent the world is vs the lore. Like there’s a bunch of different instances for Lordaeron (which makes the Hallows End event a freaking pain half the time) but then you have stuff like this which reveals a world which in some areas progressed a lot but if you go there without reading the books (or in this case, the summary) then you’d have no idea and could only kind of vaguely guess that you’re in some kind of temporal anomaly if you were to play it straight faced in-game.
So still no Alliance presence on the Broken Isles? Not even the Night Elves and Gilneans in Val’sharah?
Always sad it default went to Horde because of Suramar and Highmountain, it’s one of my favorite expansions.
I would’ve loved if those ghost Night Elves in Azsuna wanted to rejoin their living kin and join the Alliance as a cool ghost skin for Night Elves.
I dont have the book but pretty sure someone said it does talk about the Gilneans still kicking around in the Island.
If anyone gets their paws on the Hammer of Khaz’goroth(the power to shape the Earth), Eye of Aman’Thul(power to mess around with Time), Tidestone of Golganneth(the power to control Water), Tears of Elune and Aegis of Aggramar(Magic Shield) they could use it in War Within’s Final Raid…
The Hammer of Golganneth is more than capable of opening a path into Beledar and the Tidestone can push away Tides of Water while the Eye of Aman’Thul restores whatever was hidden in the past to it’s original state while the Aegis of Aggramar shields Beledar from the Black Blood.
That leaves us with the Tears of Elune as the Key just as it was the Key to Light’s Heart.
5 Keys to open the Void’s Way… 5 Torches(in the other Crystals that the Titan Keepers detected besides Beledar no doubt) after that…
I suspect the only 3 Torches will be lit in Midnight disproving the Void’s interpretation of the Prophecy as the Nathrezim has all 5 of their Torches lit as they break in from the Tomb of Sargeras in The Last Titan.
Odyn told the Titan Keepers to attribute all works of wonder to the Titans and yet Titan Runes in an unidentified language appears on the Cache of Cosmic Curiosities from the Black Empire bearing not just Black Empire Runes and Titan Runes but Fel Runes.
The Nathrezim were there during the Black Empire and the Titan Keepers attributed their works of wonder to the Titans.
Metzen says that The Last Titan will change everything we know about the Titans.
Note that Tyr’s note mentioning the building of Tyrhold(made after Odyn’s Edict) makes no mention of Ulduar despite mentioning Yogg-Saron and Loken informing the Titan Keepers of that. It also mentions the Halls of Infusion existing before Tyrhold was built.
Furthermore the report mentioning Avaloren mentions that Odyn was itching to eliminate heretics yet was warned that the resources needed would compromise containment of the Prisoners I.E. the Old Gods.
I suspect that Odyn ignored warnings and all 4 Old Gods breached containment with Yogg-Saron who was corrupted into an Old God of Necrotic Death returning to the Nathrezim after escaping his Halls of Infusion he created(that the Titan Keeper Archaedas emulated when designing Tyrhold as per Odyn’s decree to attribute all works of wonder to the Titans even after Odyn quit working for the Titans) and centuries later returned to Azeroth with Icecrown Citadel, the Storm Peaks and Icecrown Glacier itself and that Icecrown Citadel’s actual name is Ulduar.
Do note that the Tribunal of Ages only mentions the word Titan once: specifically in regards to the Titans giving the Earthen a Hammer. Algalon doesn’t mention them at all.
This makes the Makers as the Tribunal of Ages calls them suspicious as well and if they are infact the Legion then the neutralization of the Old Gods such as the Heart Chamber and the Last Prison were merely the Legion locking the Old Gods up again.
It also makes the Reply Code Omega suspicious… In the end it would just be a beacon to summon the Burning Legion to Azeroth. Not much good once Sargeras was defeated.
The Titan Keepers maintaining the lie would be just them following Odyn’s edict to attribute all wonder to the Titans despite it being better to come forward with the truth.
Suramar
-
The animals held in The Menagerie are no longer mind-controlled and made placid with magic, a request made to Thalyssra by the Night Elven druid Nighteyes who resided in Shal’aran during the rebellion.
-
Lothrius Mooncaller, one of the last remaining Moonguard, has remained in Suramar, and now recruits Nightborne and Night Elven Druids to join the Moonguard.
Azsuna
- Nightborne scholars are working to break the curse on the Court of Farondis.
- Nar’thalas Academy is being rebuilt and will be a place of magical learning.
Tomb of Sargeras
- The portion of land that the Tomb of Sargeras was situated on is confirmed to be called the isle of Thal’dranath.
- Thalyssra spoke with the echo of Aegwynn discussing and recording magical techniques, of which Thalyssra kept certain techniques she recorded locked in a tome sealed by arcane magic.
Some interesting tidbits while I skimmed through my copy which only just arrived today. Some of these have been mentioned previously, while some have not. If I find any interesting or obscure details in the book while reading I’ll update my post.
When Vryanoth came to the Isles, embarrassed Odyn and most of the storm drakes decided to leave with her, the vrykul have developed a more friendly relationship with the storm drakes. The vrykul realized that the drakes who stayed behind could leave for the dragon isles if they’re also mistreated
Nightborne Druids?
I worded that poorly, the new Moonguard recruits consist of Nightborne, presumably mages, and the book specifically mentions Night Elven Druids.
At this point, with the amount of close, cordial interactions the Nightborne have with Druids, particularly Night Elven ones, there’s no excuse for them not to have access to the Druid class.
I would assume Night Elven mages would find themselves to the Moonguard. I feel like the Night Elves of the Broken Isles got screwed over with the lore book.
I’m sure they will. I think, though, the few remaining Highborne mages were still getting cozy in Bel’ameth when last we checked in with them.
Considering the close proximity of Val’sharah and Suramar, it does make a little more sense for the Night Elven druids from the region to fill the ranks of the Moonguard in greater number than any Night Elven mages.
The book also states that rather than repurpose the Moonguard Stronghold, the new recruits have made Shal’aran their home, which sort of harkens back to the origin of the Arcan’dor being the collaborative effort between the first of both elven magi and druids.
I think this is building up to the idea that the elven tribes shall finally unite as one. If in the Broken Isles its already happening then pretty soon Darnassian/Shalassian/Thalassian and Arathi shall unite as one people to save the world from Renilash which I think is Midnight expansion. I’m glad they didn’t forget the Night Elves that live on the Broken isles.
