Explain BFA and why you hate it

Why is BFA a “joke” It has served me some fun times with friends and im still enjoying content. Its 8.0 they have patches to fix things so please stop “IM Quitting” posts if you are then quit we don’t need your rant. They have time to fix things Don’t “quit” take a break play Guild Wars 2 or Black Desert or SWTOR or try a new genre of games try the original Warcrafts 1-3. Or play the new releases. Just stop the Quiting posts and ask for time waster MMOs like wow if your so adamant about wanting wow to become great again.

I guess I hate it for the same reason I hate every xpac. I have to listen to a bunch of people tell me the game is garbage every time I go on the forums.

thank you. Most dont back it up. I thought BFA was well praised my brother said i should come back for it. (I couldn’t afford the sub at the time of legion)

Its the fact that they ignore feedback and proceed with half assed projects that nobody asked for. Also yes there is content but the majority of it is unfinished and boring or is extremely rep gated and timegated and lacks player choice. Don’t even get me started on the horrible class design. These are just a few of my issues and overall it looks like Bfa is flopping pretty fast.

The reasons people don’t like BfA have been covered in many threads since launch. Why don’t you avail yourself of that information rather than assume none of it’s valid unless it’s all repeated in your own thread?

Thank you for the explanation on why you don’t like it.
I agree with the feedback and half assed but i am hopeful atleast until we learn more of 8.2

Azerite gear and class design are pretty awful.

You could just stop going to the forums.

Just a thought…

I’m on the verge of quitting. Awful, awful class design (impressive that they managed to make things worse than celetalon did) and ignoring all the feed back on the worthless azerite system.

Stories posted by Yazzami and others in fan fic make better sense and are way more entertaining than what lore/story lines have been pushed out for this exp.

Why focus on the negativity when theres already so much of that going on about this Xpac and why not try to look at whats positive about it?

Sure it’s not the most exciting or engaging Xpac I’ve played and the azerite system is definitely a bust as of right now but I’m still enjoying logging on, hanging with friends. PVPing. If anything its allowing me to explore other games too which is always fun.

BFA is the latest expansion for WoW, and I do NOT hate it.

WoW’s not nearly as “sticky” (addictive) to me as it once was. But that’s a good thing.

Of course I could but then I’d be missing out on part of the community. Obviously “hate” is exaggerated for the sake of answering the OP.

(PvP perspective)

Nonsensical pvp knee-jerk hotfixes to slightly overtuned things (rdruid healing), yet no changes to completely game breaking things (divine shield totem on 1 minute cooldown).

Azerite trait implementation completely trash and imbalanced between classes. Specs go from garbage tier to god tier because of 3x trait stacking making gameplay feel more about gimmicks and less about skill/counterplay.

Spamming regrowth on my partner barely keeping him alive through damage while the shaman doesn’t even have to cast, ends game at 85% mana while spamming purge on my hots, being “punished” by 7k lifebloom blooms.

All mana drains being removed from the game because they suck and then giving mana drain to demon hunters, again with no ability to counterplay.

Immortality of RSham/Boomkin/X

tldr: No consistency among decisions. PvP design team feels detached at best, incompetent at worst.

I don’t totally hate it, the zones, questing, and music are all top notch. But gameplay wise, I do have some gripes. The classes gained nothing after Legion. We all lost stuff that used to be baseline, either just up into the nether (i.e. life tap) or to a talent row (shadow word: death), or to honor talents.

My rotation as a hunter is four buttons. Why do I have to turn on war mode just to be able to use more buttons? Why can’t I use some of those abilities for PVE?

My other gripe is the Azerite artifact system. It’s awful and I hate it. It sounded like a neat idea, but the traits being RNG, on top of higher ilvl gear needing higher artifact level to unlock the same traits you saw on the lower gear, is … weird and unnecessary. We came from an xpac where you didn’t need to carry separate sets of gear, just swapping legendaries or such per spec, and now suddenly you may not need just one gear set per spec, but more than one depending on what type of play/traits you were going for? No. Why? That’s awful.

I dont hate it. I just find it really meh.

No fulfilling content, too much grinding that doesn’t offer fun rewards, same exact setup as Legion which was boring (except for the artifact weapons) and every class is boring.

I won’t say I hate BFA, but the implementation Allied Races really disappointed me and turned me off immediately.

I don’t hate BFA. But it’s literally a watered down legion with an infinitely worse plot and more grind. They took what good aspects were in Legion and chucked them away, leaving us with this mess of an expansion which isn’t terrible. It’s playable, but by god is it the weakest expansion to date. Both ‘unique’ features flopped hard. The garrison at least worked as intended and actually had some depth and fun even.

Warfronts, Island expeditions? Nah. Warfronts are way too easy and not very enjoyable to be in once the first few times are over with. Island expeditions were dead in the water for me. It’s basically a large, grouped instance version of a world quest. How riveting.

It’s literally worse than the last 3-man instance content Scenarios in every way. No lore, no variety. Just farm rare mobs/events by hitting them in the face or otherwise and win.

This is the first expansion where I feel like the soul has been taken out of Warcraft. That does not mean it’s a bad game, but there’s no passion here. It’s safe, cookie-cutter garbage and when we do get innovation it goes backwards to what we could potentially have before.

Battle For Azeroth is the worst WoW expansion to date and we’re going to need a set of major, drastic changes in gameplay design and philosophy to get us out of this hole.

It looks like warcraft, it feels like warcraft even at times, but it isn’t Warcraft. Something has possessed the body and is just dragging it around pretending to be something it’s not. Ironic metaphor given the main character of the expansion.

This is willful ignorance at it’s best. There have literally been hundreds of threads full of complaints going all the way back to alpha about things that still haven’t been addressed.

If you want a real answer though, here it goes: I haven’t quit and don’t intend to at this time, however I am not actively playing and haven’t logged on at all in about 2 or 3 weeks. During that time I’ve been catching up on things around the house and what little game time I do have right now is being spent on Final Fantasy XIV.

The reasons why I have no desire to play BfA are class design, character/gear progression, and Blizzard’s overall tonedeaf and arrogant attitude towards the playerbase.

I main a Guardian Druid, always have and always will. However right now I feel so helpless as a raid tank. I honestly feel like I’m dragging my team down because I die to regular boss mechanics like Fetid Devourer’s Thrash and there’s nothing I can do about it besides hope that my healers can keep up. The class mechanics have been grossly oversimplified to the point where I could almost play my rotation perfectly without even looking at the screen. I could probably even put it all in a single /castsequence macro and never miss a beat. It’s beyond boring. Meanwhile my DK co-tank has a noticeable presence on the healing meters and has a whole bunch of utility and survivability that I just can’t touch.

Regarding gear progression, the last straw for me before deciding to take a break was actually getting a titanforged 390 piece off of Normal Vectis the last night I raided. It didn’t feel good. I didn’t earn that piece and I certainly didn’t deserve it more than the other people who got regular loot off the exact same kill even though they put in the same amount of effort as me. More than anything else I actually felt guilty about getting the drop.

Besides that the whole Azerite gear system is absolutely terrible. It doesn’t feel like it was designed from the perspective of being a cool new mechanic, rather, it feels like it was designed from a psych profile of trying to develop an addictive “carrot on a stick” incentive to keep people pulling the handle on the slot machine. The vendor system coming in 8.1 will address some of that but it doesn’t change the fact that Blizzard was so resistant to change it in the first place, which brings me to my final point.

Blizzard as a company has become increasingly out of touch with their players. Everything from the global cooldown changes to removing Master Loot to “do you guys not have phones?!” reeks of a company culture that no longer cares about what gamers really want. Instead, they’re trying to push and push and push to see just how addictive they can make things before players reject them and only then do they begrudgingly dial back just a little bit.

BfA has brought many controversial and downright dumb decisions with it and many players have simply had enough. I’ll be back for 8.1 and then I’ll see how I feel about it moving forward. If 8.1 isn’t enough to change my mind then I’ll probably cancel my sub and not return until there is a change in leadership.
