When I purchased the Expeditionary series of armor from the Auction House, the armor said it was for minimum level 70. My character is level 71 as of this post. After I purchased several pieces of armor and checked my mail, all the pieces said that the character must be level 80. I feel like this was bait and switch.
Unfortunately gear has a bad habit of showing scaling to your level, have not purchased gear from AH in a while, but one must be careful when doing so.
Since armour can be made from lvls 70-80, the overall armour listings just defaults to the lowest level available.
When you click into the listing and hover over the item, the tooltips will say what level they are actually for. Generally speaking if it seems like too good of an ilvl for your character level, it’s likely not a level 70 piece of gear.
It’s not really a bug or anything that CS can help with. You can make a suggestion in game or on the General support forums if you want to provide feedback for the visuals of the AH listings.
This is incorrect. Just because you can make any number of different levelled items, the auction is not a theoretical system. It should show what is actually purchasable. If it’s all lvl 80 gear, it should say so, not based on what COULD be made, but what was ACTUALLY made. This is a bug and should be addressed. It’s very clear that if hovering can tell me it’s level 80 then the auction house can also tell what gear is for sale, and should appropriately show the item lvl of the gear, even if it’s the lowest level of many that would be a start, but likely should simply treat different levels of gear as different gear and only aggregate like-level gear.
Never mind that the auction house, by stating the minimum level of in most cases ALL of the gear shown is actually all min ilvl 80 gear, but falsely showing this makes it almost impossible to scan the auction house for wearable gear without clicking into every piece just to see if ANY of the gear is even purchasable. It’s a needle in a stack of needles situation and is a quite lazy implementation that requires a quite level of input/activity of your customer for that lack of thoughtfulness.
P.S. It also breaks your ilvl filter as well.
This is the wrong forum for feedback or bug reporting u want the bug forums if u want the dev to look at it.
I plan to, but what’s listed as a “solution” is hardly.
Except that it is the current solution, even if it’s not the answer you like. Is the system great, no of course not. But it’s how it currently works and there are ways to see what you are buying within those limitations so you don’t buy something you can’t use at the moment.
