And yet, even stated by people in this thread, it is still used as a primary means of leveling.
So anyway, I honestly think one of, if not the biggest killers of the world is dungeon finder.
And youd be dead wrong.
LFG is a universal system used extensively across MMO’s and does not do what you think it does.
Ok, so now that I’ve laid out my reasoning, I think that in order to use dungeon finder, a player has to first get the lore master achievement in order to unlock the dungeons for that particular expansion.
A flat no.
Unrealistic and unworkeable.
You mean there was an option to take a specific dungeon that they didn’t like out of the queue? I’m not suggesting that they implement that.
Dungeon Finder, however is a fairly new phenomenon… Kinda, ish
“New”?
No.
I feel you missed stuff then. Or just didn’t read at all. Absolutely no one said that.
But something like Pathfinder is realistic? That, in my opinion, is overboard. Loremaster is entirely reasonable.
I think Dungeon Finder, though not the whole problem, is contributing to WoW’s overall lackluster.
Yet, as has been said, other MMO’s use it as well…hell they ALL do and none of them have this problem.
LFD access starts at 20. Your “idea” would lock them off from LFD for months.
No.
Pathfinder was the end result of Blizzards catastrophic mistake.
No… I never said that at all. Nor did the original person who said it.
People chose not to discover the entrances so that when they queued for a dungeon, they wouldn’t get that dungeon. There was no option to blacklist. They exploited (and not in the bad gaming terminology way) the system to not have to deal with certain dungeons.
Lets play this out. Tomorrow everyone with loremaster can queue for dungeons. The rest can’t. I have loremaster for everything alliance side, however, I don’t horde side. If I wanted to do dungeons what would I do, level up a character or two or three in those zones doing those quests since with zone scaling you aren’t likely to complete things like outland loremaster on one character or do I take my 120 and go and fly around doing the quests.
So the people with loremaster won’t be available to group up with the people who don’t. The people without loremaster will shortly have it and then they also won’t be available to group up with the people who don’t. Guess who that leaves. New players who won’t have a choice to do dungeons since it isn’t likely they will find groups.
Plus do you really want to be out trying to lvl up with all those 120s flying around one shotting mobs ?
It’s just another obstacle for newer players.
Let’s face it the majority of players have been around way longer than anyone new.
Essentially it’s a free pass for vets to keep newbies out of instances.
It’s a bad idea… either it’s in our out - but normal randoms shouldn’t be locked to new players if they are an option at all.
one has to first finish the quest chains in Outland, and so on and so forth.
I HAVE Loremaster. Want to know just how much is involved in that achievement?
FAR more than you realise.
Maybe I misinterpreted what bad idea for alts meant, but it sounds like he means that he uses dungeon finder to level his alts.
I have six at 120, four at ~110 and two at about 105. I have not ever used the dungeon finder to level. I may run on average 4 BGs, and 2 RDFs each X-Pac during leveling, but that is max. I run the dungeons later in heroic for better loot.
Lol, I have Loremaster too. Loremaster of Cataclysm, Pandaria and Draenor. They weren’t hard to get… Do you think I mean that you need every single loremaster to unlock dungeon finder? Or all those other achievements in the questing section that aren’t required to get Loremaster? I mean you only need to finish Loremaster (just the quest chains, not all that other extra stuff) for a particular expansion for that particular expansions dungeons to show up on Dungeon Finder.
There is very little story in the game. The dungeons come up randomly and unconnected with any storyline.
Why have you not done all this content you claim is not only important to do, but must be done in one and only one order?
Answer: You have never found it of any value, but you think there is moral value in forcing other people to complete this content.
I’ve done a lot of leveling lately. Most of the players leveling in dungeons now did indeed do them when they were current.
I’m not sure how people who find dungeons boring would find them less boring if they were forced to spend many months doing every zone to unlock the dungeon finder.
Yet it still takes MUCH longer to level that way. The numbers do not lie. You go to a quest hub and pick up 4-5 quests you get done in 20 minutes and get non nerfed XP that’s 4 times more XP than a dungeon, or you sit in a Q instead for something that takes longer to get into and do, for far less XP.
What most people WILL do is quest while in Q, it is a reasonable way to level faster, depending on the dungeon really.
Take it from an ex altaholic, since 7.3.5, and then the major nerfs to dungeon XP after doing the dungeons quest, it is a really POOR way to power level. You get far more XP doing BG,s by far.
You do not have Loremaster. I do.
Case closed.
Yes, you said people should have to complete the zone that goes with each dungeon before they would be permitted to do it.
Stop trying to backtrack. It’s what you said. Loremaster in each zone for that dungeon.
No Skaara
I have the title. The Loremaster. Every expac. All of them.
I mean you only need to finish Loremaster (just the quest chains, not all that other extra stuff) for a particular expansion for that particular expansions dungeons to show up on Dungeon Finder.
And again, no.
Unworkeable.
